Engine Stall Problems of Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have a severe engine stall at slight acceleration it feels like the tires are going to lock up or break something in the drive train dealer says my complaint is normal.

I was stopped on a heavily travelled road, waiting to make a left-hand turn. The engine suddenly stalled and I lost my power brakes and steering when this happened. I took the truck to the dealer and was told that the ac compressor locked-up. I believe the compressor locking-up caused the truck to stall. Had I been turning when this happened, a collision or worse could have occurred.
