Ni got a notice about passenger side air bag being defective and jim barnard Chevrolet can't help me in the replacement of the air bag inflator??? so, how many years will I have to wait til it's corrected. Being a road safety hazard, if my passenger is seriously hurt, due to gm not repairing the problem. Then I can sue gm for big bucks!! now that I have the proof of the defective air bag inflator.
I received a safety recall for the takata airbag inflators in July 2016. Over the part 3+ years I have contacted the local Chevrolet dealership 6 times for status of the repairs. I have been told that parts are not available. I was told the same thing by the gm customer service person. No one seems to be interested in helping resolve this safety issue. The gm recall number is 49151. The letter states that I will be contacted when parts are available but my concern is with the information I keep receiving that there are no parts going to be available. My last attempt to resolve this was March 2, 2020.

May 27,2011 gm annouced a recall of the passeger side air bag on my truck. Recall # 16v381. Now the dealer tells me gm is asking y'all to allow them cancel this recall. Are we the consumer expected to just wait for someone to get killed when one of these defective inflators rupures?? and then gm might do something about it. Gm needs to be proactive and not reactive. Lets get these fixed before my wife or someone esle gets killed.
The recall for the passenger airbag inflator is over 2 years old. I called Chevrolet and they are still listing this recall as incomplete and no remedy is available.

"takata recall and gm" corporations" (takata, gm)) have decided to recall the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2011 for defective air bags. Takata's decision that the driver and the passenger air bag inflators it supplied to gm are defective and advised the consumers to take the vehicles to the dealers for repair of the air bag. I have done so for the past two years and I always get the same response: no parts available for the air bags repair. How can that be possible when smaller dealers like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, etc. Using the same air bags have the parts and have been conducting repairs on vehicles with defective takata's air bags? with this letter, I am requesting with respect for an explanation and a possible solution to this problem that has been going for so long. My silverado truck has only 24 k miles in it and I bought it in 2011. I am afraid to drive it! I am a subscriber of NHTSA. Please, response.

Takata recall -- dealerships state they are unable to replace the takata inflators at this time. They are unsure when they can replace.
Takata recall apparently I have a defective passenger airbag inflator and received a legal notice from tk holdings. Inc. Contacted dealer. No solution from gm?.
Takata recall: my vehicle has been identified as having takata inflators but no dealership I have contacted can or will replace these inflators.
Takata recall. Received legal notice that I should contact nearest dealership to schedule a free repair of the airbag inflators. I was told the dealership did not have the equipment to replace the airbags. I am putting my family and myself at risk due to the recall.
Takata inflators: this recall has been in effect for over a year with no solution yet. How much longer do I have to wait for this to be fixed?.
1/08/2017- bakersfield, CA. Passenger side airbag, for my model it has been identified as defective. Received legal notice this date from tk holdings inc, monroe WI. They are debtors, who filed chapter 11 for takata corporation. They stated take your vehicle to local dealership immediately to schedule a free repair on a defective or potentially defective airbag inflator. I've known about this issue for over a year now. General motors, takata corporation are in a legal battle over this airbag issue. In the mean time citizens of our great country are going to be impacted by this continue delay, and cost of all parties involved to prevail in court. The federal govt. Natl. Transportation safety board needs to intervene, and stop this airbag crisis. I would classify this matter as a natl. Security & safety threat because lives will be loss. Everyone involved are not accepting responsibility for this serious dilemma, due to ongoing litigation. I very rarely allow anyone now in my truck, minor fender-bender, airbag deployment, extraction metal shrapnel. Maybe I can get our washington DC senator of our district apply a little pressure on this matter, election time in 2018, look what happened on 10/07/17, state of virginia , state of new jersey, both republicans loss to democrats. This is not time for politics. Lives are and will be loss.
Takata recall--I called (11/7/17) my chevy dealership as soon as I received the "important legal notice for owners of vehicles with takata airbag inflators" to schedule an appointment per instruction on postcard. My chevy dealer says the parts to repair the airbags are not available yet. The original recall letter came out in 2016. I am concerned as the postcard mentions personal injury or death. Please advise.
Takata recall. Chevrolet dealerships, including eldorado Chevrolet in mckinney texas, refuse to repair the air bag inflator. Say they don't have the required parts.
Takata recall. . . I was notified in July 2016 of a recall on takata airbag inflators installed in my vehicle. This recall stated that the propellant in the inflator can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. When this propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflator can rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. As of November 2017, there is still no remedy available for this recall for a defective item that could result in death for me or my family. I have called about the availability of a remedy several times, with the most recent call taking place in August 2017, when I was assured that the solution would be available by the end of October. It is still not available. I live in alabama and have owned my truck for 7 years, so my airbag propellant has been exposed to the exact conditions and length of exposure that could result in death as stated in the recall furthermore, it angers me that the recall states that this propellant, when exposed to hot and humid conditions for an extended period of time, could result in death but then goes on to state that "the vehicle is presently safe to drive". I think that gm and takata have had plenty of time to establish a remedy for the problem. It is obvious to me that neither company cares about the safety of their customers. Some action needs to be taken against these companies to ensure that they take action to repair these potentially deadly problems.
Takata recall I have pursued through the Chevrolet dealerships for over a year a remedy to the airbag recall. My understanding is that they were to provide a free repair or replacement of the airbag inflators. Every time I have called to get a repair scheduled, they have either told me that the repairs are not available, or that the parts aren't currently available, and they will call me when they are. Every time I follow up on that call, they seem to not have my information. I just read something online saying that they were supposed to have a final decision from the NHTSA in August 2017 reference my vehicle and others. It is now November, I received another recall notice in the mail recently, and still the Chevrolet dealerships are not cooperating in the repair process.
Takata inflators: recall notice received July 2016. Have checked with dealerships since 10-19-16 and they say they have no parts to fix the recall and do not have date when parts will be available. Have received another notice that t k holdings have filed for bankruptcy chapter 11. No accident but recall not fixed.
As I called the dealership they state that the item to be replaced / changed is not available (takata inflator).
Takata recall. Received "important safety recall" on gm letterhead dated July, 2016. Gm recall #"49152", thereafter called gm recall #2049152; NHTSA recall # 16v383. Original letter states "vehicle is presently safe to drive. . . No need to take action now. . . Will be notified when parts are available to remedy your vehicle. " I checked the status of the recall at my. Gm. Com/recalls on the following dates with the same information found: 10/8/16; 1/3/17; 8/10/17. I received a legal notice on 10/20/17, stating that takata, the air bag inflators manufacturer, is/has declared bankruptcy, etc. And decided to follow up on the recall as suggested in the legal notice. I spoke to "mr. P. " (first name) in the service dept at columbia Chevrolet, 513-823-9268, who looked up my VIN and state that his gm website states that gm and takata have petitioned the NHTSA to determine if a recall will be made. I pointed out I have a gm recall and was told gm will send me a recall notice if one is made and "anyway, there are no parts available for this and we don't know what parts they would be. " I think the response that we don't have parts to remedy the problem, (which we now don't acknowledge)15 months after receiving an official recall, which was originated 20 months ago, is inappropriate and has added stress to my life in having to follow-up repeatedly and worry about the safety of my vehicle, which may still have a serious safety concern unaddressed. No motor vehicle accident or other incident to stimulate the action of the air bags has occurred, thankfully.
Takata recall we received a notice about a bad takata-manufactured airbag inflator recall but we have not received a repair notice to fix our airbag problem.
1. My takata inflator needs to be replaced on my 2007 Chevrolet silverado and, is a recall item, and general motors is using delaying tactics rather than replacing the defective part(s). This is unacceptable. Now my airbag light is on and after looking at the recall list and description it says: safety risk: the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. Remedy: the necessity of a remedy is dependent upon NHTSA's decision on gm's petition for inconsequentiality. Additional information will be available following that decision. In the meantime, you can also check the status of this recall at my. Gm. Com/recalls. Gm considers your vehicle safe to drive. Recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available . . . . 2. I've had a recurring electrical problem that is not diagnosable as it is a total electrical failure that is not able to be determined by on star and without power, no diagnosis can be made. The computer doesn't keep a record of why the failure occurs, and we have had multiple cables and batteries replaced in an attempt to resolve the unknown issue. This vehicle was produced in canada.
I believe this is a takata inflator recall issue. The air bag warning light has been staying on since about may 1, 2017. I noticed it on while I was driving on the highway. I have had no kind of impacts or collisions. I just went to the nhtas. Gov site for recalls and found that this vehicle is part of the airbag mfg recall #2049152 and NHTSA recall #16v383. I bought it used last year. Is this vehicle safe to drive?.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed due to the service fee. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v383000 (air bags) for the frontal inflator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that a petition was filed and the air bag indicator illuminating had nothing to do with the recall. The failure mileage was 90,474.
Takata inflators: I believe my vehicle is on a recall list for faulty airbag inflators.
