2010 Chevrolet silverado. Consumer writes regarding passenger side airbag safety recall. The consumer stated he was unable to have the safety recall performed due to not having internet access to register for it.

I had a recall on my 2008 silvarodo to replace passenger side airbag. I recieved a letter saying parts were in and to make an appointment to have it replaced. I made appointment with victory chevolet in charlotte to have work done. When I got there they said they did not have the parts and would call when they came in. Why make an appointment just to hear them say "we don't have the parts".

Cracked dashboard in several places. Possible obstruction of passenger side air bag in the event of deployment. Pieces of dashboard might become sharp pieces flying around the cab in case of a collision.

The dealer keeps saying there is no remedy for the passenger side airbag recall.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph the both the front and rear driver and passenger side air bags erronsly deployed causing the driver to loose control of the steering and crash into a ditch. During incident the driver sustained a neck injury. No police report was taken. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer ���� who diagnosed that����. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number ( ). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 268,000. Jft.

There has been a recall out on this vehicle for several years now, I just looked it up on safercar. Gov and it says that there is an unresolved recall out on my truck. There originally has been one out on the passenger side air bag. But now I just heard that air bags on 2007 thru 2014 are included in a recall. I would like to know if my truck is included in a recall or not.

I was moving the truck in the driveway, I got out the truck to retrieve something from the rear and while the truck was still running I closed the door and both driver and passenger side airbags deployed.

Was driving in motion straight during icy conditions on freeway and truck slid out of control and I drove through ditch never stopped once and side air bags deployed and seat belts all froze up and ceiling fabric was ruined and torn from deployed airbags. I never hit anything and continued to drive right back onto highway.

The dash above the steering wheel cracked on 12/4/2019, now making a rattling noise. The crack now is going to expand due to vibration and it could effect the drivers side airbag down the line.

I received notification that my passenger side air bag is defective. (may 2016). I've been following this for 3 years. I called gm today and was informed it is still pending and remedy is not yet available. I called nhtfa and the complaint representative was very short and lack concern for my complaint. I said so this could take 10 years, and he said however long it takes.

I have found cracks in the dash directly connected to the support braces for the passenger side air bag, in case of deployment the shards of broken plastic can impale into an individual causing injury or death.

The passenger side airbag dash cover is cracked and makes we worried the heat and weather will make the air bag inflate unnecessarily.

The officer stated that while the driver was traveling at an unknown speed, the front driver and passenger side air bags deployed without warning. While continuing to drive, the steering seized. As a result, the vehicle struck the concrete divider, crossed the median, and crashed into another vehicle. A police report was filed. The driver sustained unknown injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was totaled. The police officer stated that the vehicle would be towed from the scene. The driver called an unknown dealer, but no information was provided. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

Takata recall- contacted gm again about an estimated time frame for my faulty passenger side airbag replacement. They said they had no clue and advised me to not have anyone sit on the passenger side of the vehicle. I then contacted the manufacture directly and the rep tells me that it has not be proven that the vehicle is dangerous. I feel very uneasy having my family in this vehicle and gm seems to have to plan or time frame as to when they can help me.

Vehicle hit a tree in motion. Vehicle hit tree in center of grill. Side airbags deployed but front air bag did not. The only impact was to the front of truck and none to the sides. Large crack on upper left hand side of passenger side airbag dashboard. Truck used on hard surface roads. Truck is parked in garage. Crack showed up without malice. Concerned about possible dashboard shattering if and when airbag is deployed in the event of a collision causing harm to driver/passengers.

I first contacted them on November 7, 2017 and was told the device was not available. I contacted them again on may 10, 2018 and spoke with amanda. Amanda said she would check with her manager to determine if the part was available to schedule the fix but I have not been contacted. I have had a "service air bag" light on for several years now. I have owned the truck since new and it has never been in an accident. From what I have heard it is a driver's side airbag connection issue and if there is an accident the airbag won't activate. After reading about the recall on the 2007 models on up I was surprised and disappointed that my year is not involved in that recall as it sounds like the same safety defect. Mileage on my truck is only 81,000 miles. The truck was stationary and just started when the light first came on and it's been on ever since.

Traveling under 10 mph in neutral, both side air curtains deployed. Traveling on dirt road. No pot hole, rock or bump involved. No warning of deployment.

Takaka airbag recall. On 8/2/17 driving down the road 8:45am passenger side airbag deploys n then driver side deploys never hit anything. State highway 21 south bound approx 1/4 to 1/2 mile north of 21 and 47 highway intersection in the cadet missouri area. Traveling about 60 mph.

There is a crack on the dash that runs along the compartment housing the passenger side air bag. This crack could potentially tear the airbag upon deployment making it useless in the event of a crash. The dealership informed me this was a common occurrence and it could be replaced but that the replacement may crack due to body shifting during operation and sun exposure. Now the dash is beginning to crack in other places (stress fractures). Not sure when these cracks started whether the vehicle was in motion or stationary.

Drivers side airbag not working. Paid 100. 00 to have it checked and it has recall. Unable to use horn or cruise control. Worried if in an accident will not have drivers airbag.

Cracked dashboard by passenger side air bag. My concern is if the air bag is deployed will it cause the dash to shatter causing more injury. I had the same crack in the same place on my 201 3 tahoe but I have traded it in. It seems that there a major issue with multiple Chevrolet vehicles similar to mine.

Intermittent electric power steering loss caused accident. Chevrolet denied it. Same problem almost caused a accident again but no there is no electric steering at all and vehicle steering is unable to manually be steered! it was towed to a simpson Chevrolet, garden grove CA. 92643. 714 527 7000. This dealer is even trying not to warranty it!!! I need help here. This is the same truck that deployed the side airbags only at a steering failure involved accident. Same problem but now its dead all the time.

Dash cracked around the passenger side air bag.

The dashboard immediately surrounding the case holding the passenger side airbag in my 2009 chevy silverado is cracked and broken in three (3) different places, including two (2) corners. I was advised this is a common issue in gm trucks, and that it is a structural integrity issue that could cause airbag deployment without accident. I was advised that since our truck is part of the takata recall to have our airbags turned off, especially since the dash holding the airbag is broken and damaged. Three-way Chevrolet in bakersfield, CA refuses to turn the airbag off, even after agreeing the cracked and broken dashboard poses an inherent safety risk by compromising the already defective airbags.

The dash in my 2012 silverado truck has cracked on it's own in front of the passenger side airbag. This is a known defect to consumers(just do a google search) with a safety concern that if the air is deployed, the cracked plastic could get blown off and become a deadly projectile. There is no aspect of this that can or should be considered safe.

While on a dirt road driving at a slow speed, the side curtain airbags deployed. The vehicle did not hit anything and no other damage occurred. Gm sent a 3rd party to evaluate the vehicle and declared the warranty void since we had installed a 4" lift kit. There is currently a recall for takata airbags on this particular truck but gm says this is unrelated. This vehicle was purchased new in March of 2016 and had 5089 miles when this incident occurred. How can gm deny this claim. Shouldn't they have to prove that the lift kit caused the deployment if that is their reason for denial? no where in the warranty information does it state installing a lift kit can cause the side air bags to deploy. No where on the information provided from the lift kit manufacturer does it state your warranty could be void if you install the kit. This isn't right. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

The dash board on my 2008 silverado ltz is cracking in several places, my safety concern is, that if the passenger side air bag were to deploy, there is a great possibility that sharp pieces (shards) of the cracking, defective dash, would be sent flying through the cab. This could possibly cause lacerations and blindness. This dash cracking on 2007-2014 gm products is well known and very common. Replacing the factory dash is very costly. I am concerned that aftermarket "covers" or "caps" might interfere with the air bag deployment. Also there is a recall 49151 on the air bags. I am also concerned that an after market "cap" or "cover" might interfere with the replacement or service of the recalled air bag, as most of these aftermarket caps are difficult to "uninstall", if access is needed to repair or replace components below the dash.
