The truck was traveling on the interstate and the driver had to brake for heavy traffic ahead. Without reason both side airbags deployed. The airbag deployment caused the driver to veer off the interstate and onto the frontage rd. There was no impact with anything prior to airbag deployment. Luckily there was no impact after deployment either. The driver stated that he was hurt by the airbags. I rendered aid to this driver and completed a incident report. The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that there was a fracture over the passenger's side air bag housing and extended across the entire dashboard. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v627000 (air bags) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Beck & masten Buick GMC north (11300 farm to market 1960 rd w, houston, TX 77065) and bayway Chevrolet (5719 broadway st, pearland, TX 77581) were contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Chevrolet (3127 w tennessee st, tallahassee, FL 32304) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall regarding the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously taken to the same dealer for the passenger's side air bag recall repair. While the vehicle was being repaired, the contact signed a waiver that the dealer would not be held responsible for any damages to the dashboard. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. The VIN was not available.

At original notice over a year, dealer states no repair parts??? passenger side airbag recall, waiting on CO-operation and parts from any dealer Chevrolet.

The dash has a crack above the passenger side airbag. The crack is completely through the entire piece of plastic so it makes me concerned to drive the vehicle if it were involved in an accident I am not certain that there wouldn't be plastic flying throughout the cab of the truck. The truck has just over 60000 miles and we were told it is out of warranty therefore the estimate to repair is $1004.

Tl takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Rosner Chevrolet (800 south harbor city blvd, melbourne, florida 32901, (321) 723-3611) was made aware of the recall and stated that the part was unavailable. The dealer deemed the vehicle safe to drive. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that there was a crack in the dashboard directly above the passenger side air bag. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall. I have a 2009 Silverado 1500 lt 4x4. My vehicle is impacted by the passenger side airbag recall with takata. I have been waiting for over 2 years for a resolution and have gotten nowhere other than receiving a letter that takata had filed for bankruptcy. This issue is extremely frustrating! it is dangerous for anyone to ride in the passenger seat of my vehicle and nobody is doing anything about it. I call and speak to gm and they say they feel confident that my truck is safe yet people are filing injury claims against gm because their airbags are causing them harm. I need this issue resolved!.

Takata recall I've been unable to get the passenger side air bag replaced. Chevy tells me my status is 'incomplete" and I will be contacted when they have replacement parts. I'm concerned chevy may never get replacement parts due to takata filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Gm recall #: 2049152 NHTSA # 16v383.

At the top left corner of the passenger side air bag there is a crack in the dash board. I am concerned that in the case of the airbag deploying it will send hard plastic across the entire cab, or that the air bag may be prematurely deployed due to lack of support.

Passenger side airbag sensor light default. Diagnostic shows airbag passenger side. Fails inspections due to this. This is when it's moving, stopped, stationary. I have been told numerous times that it's airbag recall but not on your VIN. This has been going on over 1 1/2 years now. We have recd notice of recall and VIN # still notlisted.

The dash is cracked next to the passenger side airbag. If the air bad deploys the sharp edges could damage the airbag.

The dashboard has cracked at the top left of the passenger side airbag. This was noticed the other day while driving. Vehicle is very well cared for.

Both side air bags deployed without an impact or accident while driving down the highway. Gm has been no help in the matter, and cannot find an explanation as to why the airbags would deploy.

Cracking plastic dash on upper left corner of passenger side air bag. Seems thousands of other people have same issue.

I have cracks on my passenger side airbag, and over my instrument cluster. This is a well known issue, and I'm sure that if my airbag went off, the plastic would become shrapnel.

Moving my truck from the back yard to the front yard, traveling less than 3 mph, no one on the passenger side. The passenger side air bag deployed first and then about 2 seconds later the drivers side airbag deployed. The chevy emblem on the steering wheel embedded itself into my right hand nearly breaking my thumb. After coming to stop, I noticed the seat belt pretensioners on both sides had also been deployed and they are now locked up tight. The truck did not hit anything. I say it like this because the Chevrolet dealership would not believe me and told me it was impossible and that it was my fault. I want my truck fixed because I no longer have any safety features. Chevy said they will fix it for $4,000. 00. I say the control module went bad and it is their fault and it should be fixed for free.

Several times now this last 2 months my truck stops running. At first it would slow down then stop, the last time it completely shut down 3 times from work to home which is only 10 minutes away. The ignition seems to be the problem. I am bringing this to everyones attention just in case someone else has the same type of vehicle. If I were driving 65 or 70 miles per hour it could have killed someone or me or both. My passenger side airbag is also showing a fault. It shows that it needs serviced.

Cracked dash, involving the passenger side airbag.

The dashboard is cracked in 3 places, one of which is touching the passenger side airbag. The cracked edges of the plastic are sharp and would do serious damage to a passenger in the event of an accident and/or airbag deployment. The truck is very well taken care of and is kept clean and well serviced. The dashboard cracked while the truck was parked. One of the cracks is in the center of the dashboard and splits the dash into two pieces.

Noticed rather large crack on 2008 Chevrolet silverado ltz dash board on the driver side hump of the dash and passenger side airbag. Dealer estimated at the minimum of $400 repair. Could possibly cause harm if ever in accident.

Vehicle was parked for the day while I worked. Entered and started vehicle, the vehicle message center indicated "service airbags" message. The message would come and go which made it difficult for the dealer to determine the problem. In November of 2013 the service airbag message stayed on, took vehicle in and had the front passanger side airbag sensor replaced. This resolved the problem. One month later (December 2013) the same thing happened and it turned out to be the front drivers side airbag sensor. Had the sensor replaced, resolved the problem.

While I was driving my vehicle the passenger side airbag blew up. After the residual trama wore off, I immediately headed to the dealership. While on the way (about 5 minutes late) the drivers side blew up in my face. I made it to the dealership where they had to unlock the seat belt that was cinching me in. To make a long story short, they replaced the airbag and were going to charge me for the new seat belt. But after some haggling they covered that too. My question is --how can I know if the new airbag they put in is or is not a takata airbag. (since those are recalled) this incident happened in August of 2013.

Takata airbag, still no resolution for this by gm. The dash on the pick up also have the same cracks that thousands of owners have experienced around the passenger side airbag and across the driver side as well. I have repaired it multiple times for it only to crack in new places. It began cracking with only 30,000 miles on it.

About two years into owning this truck, (purchased brand new from dealer), the dashboard cracked at the corner of the passenger side airbag. There was no incident which caused the dashboard to crack. Nothing hit it, no accident, etc. This is a potential hazard and it seems to be a recurring problem for many Chevrolet owners. I took it in to the dealer and they said it wasn't covered by any warranty. How is it okay for gm to know about a defect with many of their vehicles and not have to assume responsibility for fixing it??.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the side air bags deployed independently. The manufacturer was notified and sent an investigator to further inspect the vehicle. After the investigation, it was determined that there was an instability issue. The manufacturer offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 34,000. Kmj.

My dash board is cracked and getting worse as the crack grows. The crack is behind the passenger side airbag and will cause the airbag to deploy in an unsafe maner and also cause extra debrie to fly around when the airbag does deploy due to the faulty dash that affects 2007-2013 gm trucks and SUV's.

There is a large crack on the front left side of my passenger side airbag. I am afraid that if the airbag has to deploy that it will send plastic shards in the air at a high velocity. I don't want additional injury to occur from broken plastic. Gm has refused to repair this as a defect in their truck line.

The dashboard has cracked running from the corner of the passenger side airbag towards the windshield. This happened when the vehicle was parked and not in use. I am very concerned that a vehicle of this age has a defect such as this in the location that it does. I fear that in the event of an accident and deployment of the airbag, the already cracked plastic of the dashboard could become a dangerous projectile.

The dashboard is cracked around the front passenger side airbag. After searching the internet this is a widespread problem for gm vehicles year models 2007 - 2013. I fear this is a safety issue. Please help.

The dashboard around the instrument cluster as well as the passenger side airbag has developed large cracks due to poor made products or poor manufacturing processes. Due to the explosive nature of the airbags as well as the location of the cracks on the dashboard, I fear the airbag will go off in a front end collision causing sharp plastic pieces from the dashboard to unnecessarily injure me and/ or my passengers.

I was traveling northbound a regular city street when the inside of my tires hit a pot hole and set off my side impact airbags on my 2007 chevy Silverado 1500 z71 4x4. There was no side impact on the truck at all and no front -end collision to set off the front air bags(they did not deploy). I am extremely worried about the safety of others. Please look into this.

The failure caused damage to the seat belts, the headliner and the ceiling light. The contact also stated that there was a powdery residue inside the vehicle, which was expelled from the air bags. A police report was available. The manufacture was contacted and the contact was advised that an engineer could inspect the vehicle within ten days and the results would become available within 120 days of inspection. The vehicle was neither inspected nor repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 38,000.

I have a 2008 silverado extra cab 4 wheel drive and was ran off the road and hit a bump not even big enough to pop a tire no body damage and the side air bags deployed. Dealer says not a defect problem I think it is . Can we not drive a 4 wheel drive off road?.
