The truck is in excellent condition and has been well-maintained. At 127,000 the engine started making a noise diagnosed as lifter noise. Within a hundred miles or so, while driving on a highway, it started to make a very loud noise, and again diagnosed as lifters on at least 2 cylinders needing replaced. Upon the advice of a 25+ year gm mechanic I will be replacing the motor as this is most cost effective as well as buying a program chip to bypass the "active fuel management" which has caused the problem. This was also recommended as gm has not altered anything engineering wise to prevent this from happening on a brand new motor that would be purchased from them.

Drove into the garage and parked. A loud explosive noise came from the truck and fumes began funneling through the hood of truck. Quickly turned off ignition and got out of vehicle. In a few minutes garage was full of intense flames. The heat was so intense it blew open the door into the house and burned/melted the laundry equipment and three rooms, and the second car in the garage, sending smoke damage throughout the entire house. Vehicles melted and everything in them and in the garage- mower, snow blower, small equipment and more, was totally destroyed. The firefighters were able to contain the fire to areas identified above. There was extreme smoke damage throughout the entire house.
