2 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/18/2010

2006 chevy silverado hd diesel with allison trans-- transmission cooler lines leaking, dealer said there has been no known problem. I searched online and found hundreds of similar complaints. So I was forced to pay $700 to have the lines replaced, which will probably end up leaking again. This is obviously a defect, as I have 3 other chevy trucks, none of which have ever leaked from the trans lines, and some are over 10yrs old.

Leaking transmission cooler lines. Lines consist of a flexible section swaged to section of hard line. There are 3 lines total. 7 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 09/30/2009

My Chevrolet 2500 has a function called grade braking to assist the brakes when towing a load down hill. It has quit functioning but the dealers cannot figure out how to troubleshoot the problem. They said since no codes show on the computer I have to wait until I have a trailer behind it and am near a dealer that is near a steep grade to test it. The whole point of the system it to keep the truck from running away on a steep grade. Doesn't sound like the place to test it. There are no steep grades with in 150 miles of me. There should be a simulated test run by their computer.

8 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 08/24/2009

My 2006 durmax diesel 2500 truck has transmission hoses that run from the transmission to the radiator. These hoses have aluminum pieces on each end and they seep oil at the joint where the aluminum joins a piece of rubber hose in the centre. They continuously leak transmission oil on the ground at this crimp join. The colder the weather, the worse these hoses leak. I feel because of the damage this oil causes to our fish stocks and the environment these hoses should be recalled and replaced a Chevrolet's expense. To date so far, all attempts I've made to correct this problem, at kelowna chevy or head office have failed. They are now interested. Please give advice.

9 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 05/28/2009

2008 chevy Silverado 2500, gas engine, 34,600 miles. Transmission is having issues that dealer cannot seem to fix. New pump put into trannie, still having problems. Usually happens in tow haul mode, hauling approx 5,000 lbs. Transmission will not shift up, holds and revs to 3500 or 4000 rmps. I take foot off gas and it bumps into gear. Most often happens at 35mph and 55 mph. When slowing down transmission slams into lower gear and revs very high. At 55 mph on I-435 in kcmo during rush hour, trucks tires locked up and squealed when trannie down shifted. Has a major issue between 30-40 mph. Again, slams between gears throwing passengers forward (I dont want to think about how it is affecting the horses!) we are first and only owner of truck. Truck treated very well, no off-roading or abuse. Sad that we are having this issue. . . . . It doesn't even have 35,000 miles on it!!!!!.

10 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 03/03/2009

Took my Silverado 2500 in for some maintenance and the dealer informed me the transmission cooler lines were leaking at the fittings from the cooler lines to the cooler. They also informed me this was a very common problem they have seen a lot of, but there is no recall and it would be a rather costly repair. I did not pay the outrageous fee and have not yet fixed the problem. . .

11 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

While doing routine maintenance on the truck I noticed the transmission cooler lines leaking. The failure is the cause of a poor fitting design on gm's behalf, and they have not committed to providing an updated part but instead choose to replace the lines with the same inadequate part. The leaking lines have not been replaced.

12 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 12/28/2008

My transmission cooler lines began leaking 3 months ago. I took it to the dealer and instead of them replacing the lines, they told me that I needed a new transmission and lines and it would cost me $6200 to fix it.

13 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 11/01/2008

2006 chevy Silverado 2500 hd w/allison trans. Transmission leak. Took truck to deal, deal fix 1 out of 3 lines under warranty. 4000 miles after dealer fixed first line, 2 other started leaking, deal would not fix other 2 lines stating truck was no longer under warranty. 16 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 02/01/2008

The allison automatic transmission cooler lines are leaking. This poses a fire hazard. Gm needs to redesign the hoses that connect the transmission and transmission cooler. Many others are having this same problem and have had the lines replaced multiple times.

17 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 10/01/2007

Driving 2001 chev 2500 (heavy duty) allison trans when started to vibrate. Took to shop and rear housing on tranny cracked all the way around. $1,200. 00 repair bill.

18 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 08/15/2007

The event leading up to is wet weather. The transmission will stick in one gear and will not shift. When I took the truck in to cindy chevorlet I was told that per g. M. Policy they could not do anything until the computer showed a code for the problem. This is the response I got from three dealerships.

19 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 09/15/2006

I parked my pickup truck 2005 chev. 2500 hd on a hill side in order to collect rocks to use in creating flower beds at home. My wife an I had parked the vehicle for about 10-15 minutes. The truck was placed in park with the ignition off. We were standing about 15 ft from the truck when we heard a loud popping metallic sound. The truck immediately began to rolled back and traveled about 20 feet or so before running up and onto a wood log. I have contacted Chevrolet and they made a computer check of the vehicle and found nothing wrong. I requested that Chevrolet check the transmission and steering column. They declined. My wife and I could have been seriously injured by the failure of the vehicle to stay in the parking gear position (automatic transmission). What can we do to rectify this situation?.

20 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 08/03/2006

After a stop in the parking lot, with my foot on the brake, shifting from drive to park the vehicle wanted to jump backwards for a second. This has occurred on several occasions. It feels like it wants to go into reverse instead of park.

21 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 07/11/2006

Starting 4 days after delivery of this new light duty truck with diesel engine and 6 speed heavy duty automatic transmission, the transmission has almost continually malfunctioned, causing what I believe are dangerous conditions putting myself, my passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians at risk. The malfunctions include acting like in neutral when starting from a full stop, causing the engine to rev, and then the transmission suddenly engages causing the vehicle to lurch, similar problems at the transmission searches for higher gears, even at highway speeds; the engagements are so hard I believe I am at risk should this occur on low traction roads, or on curves. Most disturbing is that moments after coming to a full stop (foot off accelerator), the transmission suddenly (on no fewer than 10 occasions) sends a surge of power to the drive wheels causing the vehicle to lurch. I am fearful that this malfunction may cause the vehicle to be propelled into a vehicle in front of my, or worse, pinning a pedestrian between this vehicle and a fixed object. Also shocking is that upon the vehicle being returned to me for the 3rd time on August 11th, within an 1/8 of a mile form the dealership, as I approached a stop the vehicle wheels suddenly locked up for a moment. I returned to the dealership and the service manager drove the vehicle. He repeatedly duplicated the problem and experimented by shifting into neutral, shockingly, while in neutral, the transmission still seemed to engage the drive wheels as we approached a stop. Only 42 days since delivery, and the vehicle has been at the dealer for service for 13 days, and has also continued to malfunction while under my control another 12 days. I believe the dealer, auto manufacturer, and the transmission manufacturer (who is said to be providing direct instruction to the dealer on diagnostics and repair) are placing me and others at serious risk of injury.

22 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Failure Date: 04/10/2005

My 2003 Chevrolet 2500hd truck has had the power steering pump go out three times. When it goes out the steering and brakes fail and make it very hazardous to continue requiring me to stop and have some one pick up my truck and haul it home. I've also had my air conditioning go out twice and is nearing failure again. The front hub assembly has also gone out twice on this truck. Once the repair was made under warranty.
