While driving the vehicle, the vehicle jolted and made a clunk noise. The check engine light came on accompanied by a message on the dash stating "reduce acceleration, drive with care". The vehicle went into "limp mode", and appeared to be engaged in a single gear. The vehicle was traveling at approximately 30 mph when the transmission malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to my local chevy dealer, where they scanned the vehicle and determined that the valve body was the issue, based on the scan result. The vehicle is a 2024 chevy Silverado 2500hd (gas). It has 29k miles on it. The vehicle was purchased as a "certified pre-owned" (lease return). Within 20 miles of being driven from the dealer after purchase, I experienced a jolt & clunk. The failure occured 42 miles later.

My 2020 Chevrolet silverado has locked up a couple times on 4/2/26 I immediately drove to the robins chevy dealership, the service writer and I discussed the recall of the transmission, the next day I was sent a estimate of 6800. 00 dollars to replace the valve body of the transmission, I asked why am I responsible for the replacement cost due to a known recall of the transmission valve body? I was instructed to call gm directly which I did and no action was taken, I was told to speak to the dealership manager. I need help with this matter.

The transmission on my truck down shifted and made it so I lost all power while driving. If I would have been on the freeway it probably would have killed me or caused a serious accident. It is at a shop waiting to be inspected but they said it was the valve body in the transmission. No warning lights came on at all, and the shop had to plug a computer into my transmission to get the codes. Gm needs to make this right because it is going to kill someone or cause harm if a bad accident happens due to failure at freeway speeds.

While driving in heavy interstate traffic on March 18, 2026, the vehicle suddenly downshifted hard to 2nd gear, locking the rear wheels and causing the vehicle to slide out of my lane. The truck then entered limp mode and appeared to be stuck in 2nd gear. I immediately called my chevy dealer to make an appointment to drop the truck off. While researching, I found there was a recall for the same vehicle symptoms, but my truck falls outside of the recall. The truck is currently at the dealership for a valve body replacement, due to a known issue with the allision transmission where TSB's have been issued. Chevrolet should be more proactive and recall the trucks, and replace the transmissions instead of a bandaid fix, before someone with less driving awareness/experience is involved in an accident.

My 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd bison zr2 (VIN [xxx] ) suddenly lost all power steering, acceleration, and propulsion while driving my children to school at approximately 8:00 am on March 16, 2026. The truck came to a complete stop with no warning lights or prior indication. This matches the exact ‘critical issue with the engine and transmission system’ alert I received from onstar advanced diagnostics the same morning. Steering was completely unresponsive and I had no acceleration. My children were passengers — this was extremely dangerous. I have not driven the vehicle since and have requested towing to the dealer. Please investigate under any open probes into 2024 silverado hd power-loss and steering failures. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Transmission control valve body (recall #n242454440) ?your truck is part of the massive recall issued late last year (expanded in February 2026) regarding the 10-speed allison transmission. ?the problem: internal wear in the valve body causes a drop in pressure, which can cause the rear wheels to lock up suddenly while you're driving. Multiple occurrences. It has been taken to the shop for this issue.
The transmission malfunctioned 4 times in the first 3 weeks of ownership. Once on the way home from the dealer, but I could not return as they were closing when I picked up my new 2026 Silverado 2500hd pick up. It has 2 issues so far since that ride home, 2 times, on separate occasions, I was approaching a red light and slowing down when the light changed while I was in a slow speed, so I accelerated to get to the speed limit, while doing so, the truck hesitated for a couple of seconds then banged into gear. The second time for that same scenario was several days after resulting in the same hesitation and then bang into gear. No warning lights were reveled. I called the local chevy dealership, as instructed by the dealership I purchased it from was 107 miles away, they gave me an appointment to investigate the problem. Upon arriving, I needed to back up to align my vehicle with the entrance to the service area and my truck would not go into reverse. I tried 2 times shifting from park to reverse and nothing, I put it back into park while still running and went into the service area explaining my new issue, the service writer got a mechanic and he tried shifting into park with no luck. He then shut off the engine, waited about 30 seconds, restarted the engine and shifted into reverse and it worked. They checked for codes and none were present, so they test drove it for about 20 minutes, did not experience either symptom and email gm service assistance and were told to have me come back and they would check the parameters and make sure the software was updated as well as the transmission fluid level and condition. I returned for them to accomplish those tasks and drove home, 2 miles, and had no issues till the trip I was going on today, I warmed up the vehicle as it was only 37 degrees today and when I put it in reverse, it did not engage, so I shifted into drive, it engaged then I put it in reverse and it did finally engage. Now I'm going to renotify the dealership.
Concerned about the 10 speed transmission and the rear wheel lock-up , and how to obtain a extended warranty to cover this if trouble arises from issues with 10 speed transmission issues.
While accelerating to merge onto the highway, the transmission attempted a shift twice and could not complete the shift. That process causes an aggressive deceleration with each shift attempt. It then slowed, turned on the check engine light and displayed "reduced power mode" - I. E. Went into limp mode. The dealer pulled code p0747. The repair is a full transmission rebuild. I did not experience wheel lock up like other people have, but this is the same problem that has been heavily documented.
While traveling at highway speed on the interstate in my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd (approx. 120,000 miles), the vehicle experienced a sudden hard jolt followed by a momentary rear wheel lockup. This occurred without warning. Immediately after, the transmission defaulted into a fail-safe condition and became locked in 4th gear. The vehicle would move but could not shift properly, resulting in abnormally high rpm and engine load at highway speeds. I was forced to continue driving several miles in this condition to reach a safe exit. The unexpected drivetrain behavior and temporary wheel lockup created a serious safety risk, including potential loss of control and risk of collision. The dealership identified transmission diagnostic trouble codes p2715 and p2733 (pressure control solenoid performance). Transmission fluid was found to be burnt and contaminated with metal debris. The vehicle is subject to gm special coverage n242454441 for a known control valve body defect that can cause harsh shifting and reduced engine power. Although code p0747 (referenced in the bulletin) was not present, the failure involved transmission hydraulic pressure control. The dealership is replacing the valve body under the special coverage but is not addressing the internal transmission damage, stating they cannot determine whether the damage resulted from the covered defect. The sudden rear wheel lockup and transmission fail-safe condition at highway speed present a significant safety concern involving unintended drivetrain behavior.
The contact owns a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a rumbling sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact associated the issue with technical service bulletin: 20-na-142. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and test-driven, and the technician was able to experience the rumbling sound coming from the vehicle. However, the vehicle was not diagnosed because the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure while performing an additional test drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 1,100.
Pulling out onto road, heard a bang, no forward or backward, unable to move vehicle, brought to repair shop, says output shaft is sheared off, 68000 miles on it, looked on line, apparently common defect, my son in laws friend just had his happen getting off ramp exit, 80000 miles, I’ve read where low as 20000 miles, as well as 59000, 33000 ridiculous crap made in USA…. Please help! no repair as of yet.
Will pulling camper, truck lurched with hard shift at around 35mph and caused a sudden slow down in traffic. Truck then went into limp mode with engine light illuminated. Pulled over to turn vehicle off and restart. Attempted to gain speed again and similar lurch with hard shift at around 35-40mph. Vehicle again in reduced power mode. Was able to ease truck to dealer where code reader showed p0700 and p0747. This was similar to issue found in recall for model years 2020-2022 with gm 10l1000 transmissions. There has been a technical service bulletin issue by gm regarding models years 21-25 but no recall. Dealer has ordered parts for TSB but repair not performed yet.

When putting vehicle in park, I get a message on dash that says "shift to park" when the vehicle is already in park. The vehicle electrical components does not turn off. Sometimes if I wiggle/hit or stick my hand under the steering wheel adjustment lever I can get it to turn off. Becoming more troublesome. Through research I see it is a common issue among gm/chevy vehicles.
When driving, between the speeds of 40-50mph, the wheels would lock up without warning. This happened 4 times during the month of January, sometimes in 4wd. This occurred at speed when the vehicle seemed to be upshifting. Control of the vehicle would be lost during the lockup as the wheels would stop rotation entirely and rather violently. Check engine light came on after the 4th incident, reducing power and a code of p0747 "pressure control solenoid "a" stuck on". The transmission valve body was repaired by the local Chevrolet dealership under powertrain warranty. This is a known issue on previous years of this truck with the same transmission but has not been expanded to cover this vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to maintain contorol and was not in traffic when this occurred. I notified the dealer that the vehicle was shifting very hard during the last visit but no codes or issues were found at that time indicating an issue.
My pickup truck has a duramax diesel engine with a cp4 diesel injection pump. That pump has not failed yet in my truck. However it has been known to fail in numerous other gm vehicles with duramax engines and when it does fail the engine comes to a complete stop and cannot be restarted. This is a potentially hazardous even fatal situation. Repair if the pump fails is very expensive - $12,000 to $14,000 in some cases. I would like gm to replace the injection pump at my dealership to ensure this known failure does not occur. My pickup truck is otherwise in excellent condition.

My 2024 Chevrolet 2500hd duramax experienced a forced emissions derate event with a speed-limited countdown. The vehicle suddenly lost normal operating capability and became unsafe and undrivable. The truck was disabled in enid, oklahoma and had to be recovered and transported to a dealership. Prior to failure, the vehicle showed abnormal def/emissions behavior. The failure involves the scr/def emissions system. I later confirmed this vehicle has a completed product emissions recall for scr fault detection. Despite that recall, the emissions system failed and triggered a derate and loss-of-mobility event. The truck is currently at classic Chevrolet in owasso, ok for diagnosis.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle entered limp mode. During the failure, the transmission became stuck in 5th gear, and the vehicle operated at reduced speeds. The vehicle was turned off but failed to immediately restart. After approximately 15 minutes, the vehicle restarted, and the failure was self-corrected. The failures had occurred while hauling a heavy load and while not carrying a load. The message "decreased acceleration" was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The transmission fluid was flushed and refilled, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,000.
Supposedly the oil cooler ended up failing causing oil to be pumped into the cooling system at 26000 miles 8 months after purchase. A low oil message popped up upon start up looked under the hood a noticed no oil on the dip stick and a coolant reservoir full of jet black oil (supposed to be a bright red) and a fluid level higher than the normally observed coolant level. Thankfully happened in my drive way. It could have left me stranded had the engine completely run out of oil/overheated etc. Had the coolant reservoir broke/cracked due to the extra pressure and added volume in the coolant system it would have leaked a coolant/oil mixture in the engine bay around hot components of the motor. (potential fire hazard in my opinion) thankfully was able to get it towed to the dealer before any major leaks of the coolant system or catastrophic damage (that I know of) occurred.

Transmission lags and slips while over reving the engine. A local gm dealer has confirmed transmission issues and slippage.
First issue was around April-may 2025 when my engine started knocking and burning fuel. Warning light came on and it went right in to the dealer where I have all my maintenance done. They determined that it due to (2) faulty fuel injectors and I had them replaced at that time. In December of 2025 my engine started doing the same thing as before with the knocking and burning fuel and reduced speeds when on the highway so again it went into the dealer. It has since been in there and first was told it was the fuel injector again. They priced out the one was bad and I asked them to replace the remaining 6 fuel injectors so I didn't have this issue again in the near future. They did and the vehicle had the same issues going on. During the next inspection it was determined that the engine needed new rocker arms. These were replaced but this also did not solve the problem and the vehicle would not pass the regeneration on the engine. During the next inspection it was determined that we needed to replace a cylinder and one of the valves. After this was complete they were still having issues and then I was told that the piston was bad and there are (2) bad valves so I need an entire engine replacement. My truck only has 130,000 miles and has been in the shop for almost 2 months last year from engine issues and it has had all maintenance completed at he same dealership with records.
While driving, the 10l1000 transmission in the truck attempted to shift from 6th gear to 7th gear. The transmission locked up causing a violent "buck" from the rear end of the truck. The road was icy and could have caused the truck to lose control due to the lock up of the rear wheels. After getting the truck to a repair shop, valve body was deemed the cause of the failure. A complete transmission replacement is needed. Had I lost control of the vehicle due to the lock up, my family and other motorists would have been put at risk of severe injury or worse. No warning lights were illuminated prior to failure.
I purchased my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd new from wilsonville Chevrolet in oregon. Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced a noticeable shutter/vibration at highway speeds, consistently between 70–75 mph, whether towing or not. The shutter feels like it is coming from the transmission or driveline, and it occurs on multiple road types and conditions. I reported this issue to wilsonville Chevrolet, but they told me they “could not duplicate” the problem and offered no repair. I then took the truck to power Chevrolet in corvallis, who stated the tires were out of balance and replaced them. This did not resolve the issue, and the shutter at highway speed remains exactly the same. I also contacted gm directly, but was redirected back to the dealership, resulting in no progress. At this point the issue has been reported multiple times, yet no root cause or repair has been provided. I am essentially being sent in circles without a solution. There appears to be a growing history of transmission-related issues with newer Chevrolet hd trucks equipped with the allison 10-speed transmission, and this symptom seems consistent with those reports. A shutter at sustained highway speeds raises a significant safety concern, as a transmission failure at 70+ mph could lead to loss of control or power. In addition to the shutter, I have repeatedly noticed a strong “burning brake pad” smell coming from the rear of the truck. This happens randomly and has also been reported to the dealership, but no cause has been identified. I am unsure whether this is related to the transmission issue, but combined, these symptoms suggest a potential mechanical defect. Given the safety implications and the lack of resolution from authorized dealerships, I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in investigating this issue.
The vehicle developed a extremely hard down shift and then a check engine light came on. The vehicle went into limp mode, took the vehicle to local diesel mechanic and I was informed that the transmission was bad and had to be replaced, while replacing the transmission I was also told the transfer case was making noise and needed to be replaced. This happened in November of 2025 and the parts are not available. This happened while I was towing our trailer across a bridge when the traffic came to a sudden stop, once traffic started moving we could not get up to speed thus causing a traffic hazard. Yes the repair shop was able to recreate the issue there were no warnings prior to the failure. I know gm has had issues with transmissions in newer models, I did not know that there was a process like this prior to getting my vehicle repaired and I needed it repaired as soon as possible. That is why I went to and independant repair facility.

The vehicle experienced a sudden and complete transmission failure at approximately 77,800 miles. There was no prior abuse or modification. The failure resulted in loss of normal drivability and required full transmission replacement. The transmission was replaced with a remanufactured unit due to catastrophic internal failure. Repair costs were approximately $7,000. I am aware of similar gm transmission issues and recalls affecting comparable model years and components. Although my VIN is not currently listed under a recall, the failure appears consistent with known gm transmission defect patterns. The failure occurred while the vehicle was in the middle of an intersection in heavy traffic, resulting in sudden loss of vehicle functionality. A child passenger was onboard at the time. The incident created a significant safety hazard due to loss of drivability in an active traffic environment.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while slowing down and coming to a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed while in drive; however, the vehicle started to roll backwards. The contact depressed the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards, and the rpm became elevated to 5,000 rpm. The contact immediately turned off the vehicle to prevent the rpm from continuing to increase. The vehicle was shifted to park, restarted, and then shifted to drive(d) and the brakes released. While releasing the brake pedal, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was immediately turned off and towed to the residence. The dealer was informed of the failure of the clutch pack, which was welded together from friction. The dealer scheduled an appointment; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate and shudder abnormally. There was no warning illuminated. The contact continued driving at approximately 30 mph. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had another 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 in 2025, and the vehicle experienced similar symptoms before the transmission failed. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to a dealer, who advised that this was a known failure with the 6-speed transmission. The contact was informed by the dealer that the torque converters were too small for the transmission. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
10l1000 transmission, began having problems with delays and harsh gear engagement. Flare shifting and shuddering. Finally starting having transmission overheating issues while towing. I had to make several unsafe stops with a trailer to wait for the transmission to cool down again before continuing to get it home. Saw trans temps up to 240°f on flat land with 40° outside temps. I could smell the hot transmission fluid inside the truck. When I went to check the fluid level of the transmission, the fluid was full but had a large amount of glitter like metallic flakes. The fluid was very dark brown in color and smelled terribly burnt. The last recall I took in to the dealer for was about the transmissions possibility of failing, locking up, along with the rear wheels at any speed. I have young children that ride in this truck, that in it self was unsettling and unsafe. But then to have issues with absolutely no warning light was concerning. Ive since ordered an aftermarket built transmission to avoid repeating the same issues with a factory gm replacement. My factory warranty had also ended a few months prior to having these problems with it. Leaving me to completely foot the bill for it to be replaced. I had to pull money from my retirement early to cover costs, in fact costing me much more than just the sticker price.
Transmission has locked up briefly during decelerations, has been making grinding noises, has high transmission fluid temperatures, hard shifts during acceleration and deceleration, and has slipped during acceleration.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that on two occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into limp mode with an audible chime, and several undisclosed messages displayed on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the vehicle was turned off, and the battery terminals were disconnected for several minutes before being reconnected. The vehicle resumed to normal functionality and the warning lights independently turned off after driving for a while. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered several diagnostic trouble codes associated with the transmission control module. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving 45-55 mph and hauling a trailer, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was shuddering abnormally, and the wheels locked up for approximately 4-seconds. The contact stated that the transmission was shifting hard. The thermostat light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was no under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
I just financing this car and dealer write on dmv price of $57,057 with 63,631 miles that the tell me that was a pre contract on 9/13/24 then they then the bring the truck on 9/15/2025 with 64156 miles at the price of 61,777 on the contract I dont know what to do.
I am writing to express my serious concern and frustration regarding the unresolved recall on my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (VIN: [xxx] ). Despite multiple visits to multiple dealerships, I was repeatedly told that the necessary parts to complete the recall repair were on back order and instructed to “wait for parts. ” no interim solution or assistance was ever offered. As a result of this delay, my vehicle broke down without warning, leaving me stranded on the side of the road. This created a hazardous situation and significant disruption to my day. To make matters worse, I had to pay out of pocket to have the truck towed to a repair shop in an effort to get it operational—an expense I should never have incurred given the known recall and repeated attempts to have the issue corrected by Chevrolet. I have been a loyal Chevrolet owner and have always trusted the brand for its quality and dependability. However, this delay and lack of proactive support is causing significant inconvenience and eroding that trust. This situation is unacceptable for several reasons: 1. Safety risk and recall obligation: Chevrolet acknowledged the defect by issuing a recall, yet I have been forced to operate a vehicle that does not meet your own safety standards for months. 2. Repeated service attempts with no resolution: I followed the proper process and visited an authorized dealer multiple times, only to be turned away each time with no solution beyond “wait for parts. ” 3. Breakdown and financial loss: the vehicle failure and subsequent towing expense are a direct consequence of Chevrolet’s inability to provide timely parts or alternative accommodations.
