36 Equipment problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

The vehicle will display “service trailer braking system,” as well as “service front camera,” “service driver assist system. ” these messages along with audible alerts will sound while driving. At random intervals, the forward collision system will also activate with no objects in sight. This causes the driver to become distracted or react quickly in unnecessary manner. This can increase risk of collision when the driver becomes distracted. The vehicle has been taken to Chevrolet multiple times and we have been told a faulty wiring harness is the cause. We own two of these vehicles, same make, model and year. This has happened in both vehicles.

39 Equipment problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/23/2022

On approximately December 23, 2022, I notice that the uv protection coating on the hood and roof of my SUV is no longer protecting these areas of my vehicle. Which I am now concerned could lead to rusting on my 2018 SUV. I reported this issue after seeing many complaints on the web for the same problem by vehicle owners. A Chevrolet dealer mechanic also informed me of customers voicing my concern about the uv-protecting coating issue. I'm worried this issue will continue and affect the painting of my entire vehicle.

"service safety restraint system" message will often and randomly display, stay illuminated for random lengths of time, and then clear. Dealer service centers are not taking the random/intermittent fault of the safety restraint system seriously. Passengers are at risk (unknow severity, assume the worst) due to a faulty safety restraint system.

41 Equipment problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/28/2022

Electrical: noticed a few months ago that the lane assistance/departure and blind spot warning work off and on. At times the blind spot warning does not warn and will when there is nothing there. Lane assistance and departure have the same issue. Transmission: gears slipping. I am not a mechanic but there were no telltale signs until it just went out on me while driving with my children in the car! the only thing I noticed in several months prior was that the vehicle would shake as if you were running over the paved warning bumps on the side of the freeway. I just thought it was possibly the road or I needed new tires. I got new tires, problem still persists. When the gears slipped while I was on the highway it took about 15 seconds to engage at which time I removed myself and my children from being a traffic hazard. I checked the transmission oil - which I just did two weeks ago because I knew it was time to change the oil for the transmission - this time it had a very defined burnt smell and black in color.

Multiple time the full safety camera system has failed. The front rear and 360 degree view camera have intermittently failed multiple times. Restarting the vehicle has had no effect on restoring functionality of the very vital rear back up camera, front camera, parking and pedestrian sensors. This is a random occurrence, has happened at least 5 separate occasions since purchase, and occurs intermittently. Date is the last time this issue occurred.

47 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/18/2022

When scheduling for airbag recall repair the dealership has informed me that the service may cause the dash to crack or fall in during or after the install. They also advised me that this damage is not covered under the recall warranty. If the dash is not intact that will result in the airbag not being able to properly deploy.

The vehicle is fixed.

50 Equipment problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/25/2022

We were in an accident with minor exterior damage but when closer look the frame is damaged and even bolts to engine bent. Insurance company first totalled then decided to repair with new frame . All car experts say that the vehicle will decrease substantially in value. My concern is that we have no control or protection about how it is repaired and if we sell it with the current VIN number, it is misleading to the new buyer as it was not assembled as stated in the VIN number. Would appreciate your response.

52 Equipment problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban

53 Equipment problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 03/30/2022

I took my vehicle to have to air bag repaired and it has a cracks all over the dashboard now. I contacted to representative and was informed this is a hazzard of this vehicle. It is a known issue but it has not been addressed by the GMC company. How many people have to be injured or killed before it becomes and actual safety issue? whose life is considered expendable? if it is a known issue and it has been, in good faith, brought to gmcs attention, why has it not been corrected?.

The dash has broken apart on the top in front of the driver. It constantly vibrates and makes a loud distracting noise. There is no way to stop this noise and it causes the driver to constantly hold the broken part down with their hand taking their attention off the road. Our Chevrolet dealer inspected it and said they've had lots of similar complaints. He also said it would cost us $2,000 to fix the problem.

65 Equipment problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

Dash has cracked completely front to back on drivers side, and has several cracks around the air bag on passenger side. Nothing has happened to cause stress on the dash that would cause these cracks.

66 Equipment problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/19/2021

The condenser has a faulty design and cracks, causing it to leak flammable r1234yf coolant in the engine bay. Additionally, this leak causes the ac system to stop cooling, thus making the inside of the vehicle a very dangerous place, particularly during summer months, as it is impossible to cool. There are thousands of reports of this issue on all chevy/gm models between 2015-2020 including tahoe, silverado, Suburban, and yukons. The manufacturer has put out a "special coverage 17336" adjustment but it only covers the vehicles up to 60,000 miles and because it's not part of a recall it's not automatically sent out to the owners of the vehicles. Further, a large number of vehicles are well beyond the 60,000 mile limit in the special coverage before the owner ever learns of the issue. According to sae j1739, "manufacturers must conduct failure mode and effect analysis (fmea) as provided in sae j1739 (adopted 2009). Manufacturers must keep the fmea on file for at least three years from the date of creation. " I would challenge that Chevrolet did not do this fmea testing or did not do it per standard as it would have shown this issue. Instead they moved forward with production affecting hundreds of thousands of their most popular vehicles from 2015-2020 and resulting in the consumer having to pay an average of $1100 in repair costs due to a known defect from the manufacturer.

67 Equipment problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/16/2021

My dash is completely cracked in several places, I believe it’s a 2 piece dash the section closest to the windshield and the other half has the vents passenger airbag. There is approximately a 1 inch gap between the 2 pieces as well as multiple cracks. Also the rear sensors on the bumper I had replaced one and the part cost me $20 or less. I am disabled and was able to have a friend get under the rear of the truck and change 1 sensor. There still was a code and I had nobody around that could help me and I was due for inspection and thought I may get failed if they see a code. With that I brought my vehicle to schumacher Chevrolet in livingston NJ. So they told me I had another bad sensor and I had no way to clear the code so I had them do the repair. They told me the same part I brought for under $20 cost me there almost $300 for the sensor. . Do they have to use their parts or should they had given me the opportunity to get an aftermarket one whether they got it or I got it and then have them finish the job. Needless to say I walked out with a bill around $500. I’m permanently disabled and receive a little money from s. Security every months. That cost my 1/3 of my entire check for the month. I always thought they give you an option or aftermarket parts. I’ve had other vehicles in my life before I was disabled and always was asked. I’m really disappointed in the condition of the dash and the crazy amount for a part. Note I do have a 2008 f-series super duty truck with a little over 108,000 miles and my Suburban only has 89,000 miles yet my Ford dash doesn’t have one crack in the dash. I also had a 1999 Chevrolet tahoe and sold that in 2010 and got the new truck I mentioned but I have well over 120,000 miles on it and that didn’t have any dash cracks. That should be held accountable obviously it’s an issue with the company or how they are making the dash. My 75th anniv Suburban should not have dash issues with as much as the vehicle costs. Parts are too $$.

70 Equipment problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/21/2021

Purchased the new 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, 4 miles on odometer and left the dealer. Less than 20 minutes from dealer ac stopped working. Called dealer thinking it was small error. While on phone I looked under the vehicle which was now emitting foul burning odors. Noticed a very large amount of oil(1quart+) dripping from everywhere from engine to exhaust mid way down vehicle, oil cooler line was blown off. Towed newvehicle to dealer. Chevrolet wants me to keep this vehicle even though there was a TSB issued last year about this same issue. Chevrolet was supposed to fix before shipping vehicle and demanded dealers to do the same but did not follow its own advice. Now they want me the consumer to take a vehicle that now has 17 miles on it that has been repaired even though the issue was supposed to be remedied by manufacturer. Gm/Chevrolet considers this a new vehicle even after major service for a known issue and wants me to marry this vehicle for 6 years of payments. I put down $22500 cash and this is the slap I get as consumer!.
