1 Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/29/2007

Clanking in steering wheel / column. Took to dealership, was told everything was fine just how 2002 Suburbans run. Not happy with answer, took it back again, intermediate shaft was replaced. 6 months later, same thing, again intermediate shaft was replaced. Guess what, making appointment to go back because of same problem in steering, with clanking and vibration, can hear it and feel mostly with any turn of the wheel. . . . Bet it will once again be an intermediate shaft replacement and 3 days with out my vehicle!.

2 Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 06/29/2007

3rd failure of the intermedite steering shaft on the 2002 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Suburban.

3 Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/18/2007

Loose steering caused by obviously a design problem and should have a recall to address a permeate remedy. While the factory warranty paid for the first two replacements, and the extended warranty paid for all but the $50 deductible on the this third replacement this was by all accounts an ongoing problem with the 2005 Chevrolet Suburbans.

5 Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 07/27/2004

Loose motion in steering and knocking sound. Had to wait on repair due to dealer informing us of backorders on intermediate shafts. Dealer had said there were many complaints of this same nature. We also had 2 family members to have theirs repaired. Dealer repaired, but we had to pay for all repairs.

6 Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft problem of the 2000 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 12/15/2001

Dealer recently replace part (with no charge) but did not perform a front end alignment to ensure vehicle is safe. New part (9per the limited warranty) is good for 12 months after sale or replacement. Steering shafts should be designed for life vs failing after 18 months. Unsure of other 2000 Suburban's but, this was a critical part of the vehicle and if not fixed surely would have caused and accident. .
