3 Steering Noise problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/15/2015

I started my car and the brakes were gone and the steering wheel was locked up. I turned it off and started it again, then the brakes would lock up and there was no power steering. I waited a while and tried a third time, it made a power steering machine noise and was back to normal. I was afraid to drive it because I didn't want to cause an accident if it happened again. I had it towed to the dealer. The dealer could not reproduce the problem, therefore could not use my extended warranty to fix it. I paid out of pocket for a new power steering pump, because I will not drive it if there is even a chance of that happening again. It's too much of a liability.

6 Steering Noise problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

I have a 2004 chevy Suburban that has a bad vibration and clunking noise coming from the steering wheel. I have addressed this issue with the dealership and they state their is no recall, but I know of 4 people with chevy trucks with the same issue. I have also done some research online and found multiple people complaining of the same issue. 7 Steering Noise problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 10/18/2008

I have a 2003 chevy Suburban that has a clunking noise in the steering. While turning at speed or simply correcting as driving. I have noticed many other complaints on the site about it but it appears gm is not paying for a recall on this issue. Has anything been done on gm's behalf to pay for these repairs or am I stuck fixing this? the vehicle has also become very loose when driving.

10 Steering Noise problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 02/25/2006

This is the second time this has happened to this vehicle, a 2003 chevy Suburban. I fixed it the first time in 2006 and now it has happened again. A loud clunking noise around the steering wheel shaft. The dealer said it was not a recall item but one that they have had numerous complaints about. I guess because no one has died from it, chevy thinks that shabby workmanship and defects are okay to pass on to consumers. This is an annoying clunking and one that could mask a real problem if you can't hear it. When is someone going to do something about it?.

Failure Date: 09/20/2004

The truck had an ongoing problem with a clanging noise in the steering column, mostly when the steering wheel was turned. Consumer was afraid that it may cause a steering component to break, resulting in loss of steering, and could cause an accident. A service representative was contacted by phone and informed of the noise, to which he replied that there wasn't any recalls, and the noise was not dangerous/serious. The dealers tech indicated that the intermediate shaft was the cause of the problem.
