Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe - part 2

I have a 2021 chevy Tahoe that has been to the dealer 3 times now for an airbag light (dtc b14dc). The dealer has yet to resolve this issue. I am being told it has to do with the harness in my drivers seat. The dealer performed a TSB for this issue which still hasn't fixed the problem. My wife and I travel back and forth from michigan to arizona and I am concerned that the system wont perform correctly if I am in an accident.

The contact owned a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags). The contact stated that while driving at 75 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while parked at a rest stop for approximately five minutes, the vehicle was turned on, and the driver's curtain air bag and the passenger side air bags were deployed inadvertently. The contact sustained lower head and scalp injuries and was knocked unconscious. Medical attention was not needed. No police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown third party by the insurance company where it was deemed totalled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,251.

My 2012 chevy Tahoe dashboard is completely cracked up. This seems to be a very common issue as I read online. I am very concerned about the safety with the dashboard being cracked in multiple areas. What do I need to do to get chevy to replace this at no cost to me?.

Most the time my passenger airbag will not detect someone sitting there. However, when it does, it will shut off and on.

We were sitting in car with it idling, the right-side air bag just deployed without collision. We turned the ignition off waited a few moments and turned it back on and the right-side dash airbag deployed without any warning. The vehicle has not been in any collisions.

I took my vehicle into sunset Chevrolet in sumner washington, in November of 2022 and had them complete the takata air bag recall on the vehicle. I drove it for a few months and put it in storage. Since the recall the dash is now cracked where the dealer replaced the passenger airbag recall. It was not cracked prior to the replacement. I have talked to the dealer and they are saying they will not cover this. This is a hazard issue and can cause additional shrapnel to come flying at you if the vehicle is involved in an accident. The vehicle was stored in the garage and not driven. The dealer won't even examine the vehicle to see if the bolts were inadvertently overtightened on the technicians side. This is not right and this is something that should be covered. The vehicle has about 88k miles on it. My dash was not cracked at the time of the repair and now it is. This is not right to put me at more risk than what I was at prior to the recall. I read that the takata airbag recall stated to repair the cracked dashes. Mine cracked after gm performed the recall. This is a hazard and is something that should be taken care of. I am disabled individual.

The indicator light 'service safety restraint system' beeps and comes on about every 5 minutes when driving. Sometimes it doesn't come on at all. There is no rhyme or reason for why it happens.

The truck had an airbag malfunction notice on the information center. We took the truck to the dealer and was told that it was an electrical problem with the airbags. That the only way to have it covered under warranty was for the vehicle to be under the bumper to bumper warranty. The truck at the time the mileage was 39844. We had the truck fixed since it was a safety issue. It cost $420+ to fix it. We feel that it should have been covered due to a safety issue.

The airbags failed to deploy in my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe after being involved in an accident where another vehicle t-boned my vehicle on the passenger side front end to rear end causing severe damage and pushing my vehicle with great force. A police report was taken by officers that responded to the traffic accident. A claim was filed with my auto insurance and my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is currently being repaired as it was not deemed a total loss. Myself and my passengers were injured and received and continue receiving medical treatment for our injuries; our safety was definitely placed at risk. Before being involved in this accident, warning alerts/lamps would appear on the vehicle’s dashboard indicating to “service the safety restraint system” and also to “open then close passenger window” which in turn led me to take the vehicle in for service however the dealer said it could not be duplicated nor did the computer show any alerts. After the accident, I contacted general motors and filed a claim for the non deployment of the airbags, they in turn are conducting their investigation.

Air bag lights it’s on, I’m already went to a shop and they put the scanner and said that there’s no air bag and transmission go out with 78xxx miles.

Front passenger air bag warning light lit up during road trip to nm. (1400 miles) warning bell sounded. We were very concerned airbag would explode at any minute. This was second time airbag light went off. First time was a loose sensor over drivers head. This time we repaired airbag in passenger seat at cost of $1800!. Now light is on again! this must be defective and needs a recall.

I was rear ended while stopped by another truck that was going 60+ mph. None of the airbags in my 2012 chevy Tahoe deployed. The backside of the driver and passenger seats fell off - unsure if that is airbag related but nothing deployed. My car was totaled my insurance.

Drivers side air bag barely inflated but something is causing aching in my ear and hearing is a little funny. My arm was cut from whatever blew out of 1 of the front airbags. I never received anything about any recalls.

Frequently getting warning message on main info display stating "service safety restraint system". This is consistent with a message and service bulletin issued for 2021 Tahoes where there is an issue with the connector for the airbag under the seat.

The side area bags are deployed a the vehicle is parked an not be operated. It wasn’t involved in any collision, the front dash board airbags & steering wheel air bags aren’t deployed an are in tact…. There is no body damged or the vehicle was parked not being operated for over a month I don’t understand how the side air bags have ruptured without any cause that is very big danger to my self an family…there is no warning lamps on or check engine light activated,.

Vehicle is displaying service safety restraint system error message which may affect airbag deployment. Dealer advised problem from gm with a harness being too short under seat and seat adjustment can disconnect srs system which could fail during an accident. Advised no recall but repair parts were not currently available.

The vehicle was involved in a "t-bone" collision where two vehicles drove into the driver side of my vehicle. I was not at fault and yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In February of 2022 I took the vehicle to felix Chevrolet to have the airbag recall repaired. In late January 2023, the "t-bone" collision occurred. My elderly mother (front passenger) and my two sons (13 and 14 rear passengers) were also in the vehicle. Zero airbags deployed in my vehicle. The vehicle has been parked at my residence since the incident. The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others since the incident. I noticed the dash cracking after the recall was performed in 2022. I contacted felix Chevrolet and spoke the asst manager sergio who told me that gm is not replacing the cracked dash boards and if I could take a photo and text it to him--which I did.

Air bag warning light on. We had gm dealer perform the airback recall already.

About five days ago, my air bag sensors came on and a strange message on the 2022 Tahoe display. It said “ service safety restraint system” needs to be serviced. I received numerous messages from the app and computer system saying something is wrong. I took the truck in to GMC brandywine service in brandywine, MD. I was told they couldn’t fix it and gm knows it’s an issue and may do a recall. I am riding with my son and grandkids in an unsafe vehicle. I was told something is wrong with the computer. The way it’s communicating the issue but nothing seems right with this truck. I had this truck in service for majority of my ownership for numerous defects. This airbag sensor has had issues in Jan 2022 and now it’s back. They are not fixing these issues and could cost me or my family’s life. I will upload the invoice later. I have to get it out of the truck. I was told gm knows about these issues. But all year it’s been numerous issues and the trucks are not functional.

I have this car since 2018. The dashboard of this car was in good condition however in the last few months we have see cracks developing near the airbag and the driver steering wheel. These are deep cracks. The car was 100% parked inside the garage. We are concerned if the airbag function will be impacted due to this cracks.

My car’s service safety restraint system alert is on for the second time. I took it to hanner Chevrolet in baird, TX the first time and they told me it was fixed. It stayed off for a few months until the alert lit up again. My car is available for inspection. According to the dealership, while that light is on, they cannot guarantee that my airbags will deploy in the event of a crash. The dealership has confirmed that there is a problem and has seen the same issue with many other 2021 Tahoes. My vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership so far. The warning lamp is currently on. Luckily I have not had an accident in my vehicle, but I feel unsafe driving it at this time until the issue is resolved. After speaking with the dealership and researching online, it appears that this is a common issue with the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and creates a significant safety threat. I believe a recall might be required.
