Exterior Rearview Mirror Problems of Chevrolet Tahoe

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer states several issues with vehicle and request information on recalls, service bulletins, warranties or lemon law the consumer stated the cruise control down shifted to 2nd while driving at highway speeds and on hills, the starter would hang, there was a noise coming from the ac compressor. The transmission was replaced. However, it continued to hesitate after the vehicle was started, as well as a vibration. There was a clicking noise coming from the differential, the idle needle would rise, while at a stop, the battery drained, the engine stalled, the dash was cracked, there was a problem with the suspension, the tire pressure monitoring system was repaired three times, the passenger side mirror was inoperable, the weather strip had come off the vehicle and there was a clicking noise coming from the u-joint.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the driver side mirror assembly was defective. The assembly would not extend enough for the contact to be able to see oncoming traffic. The dealer replaced the driver side mirror assembly three times, but the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact had to purchase the mirror assembly from an independent manufacturer and was able to permanently correct the defect. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the drivers side mirror was non-reflective and discolored and is obscuring his visibility while driving. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer; howver, the dealer informed him that there were no recalls for that component. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving approximately 45-50 mph, the contact observed multiple images of a circle reflected into the drivers side view mirror and a leakage of fluid. The images projected within the side view mirror were distorting the visibility of the contact, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they recommended the drivers side view mirror be replaced at the contacts expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

: the contact stated a letter was received from the manufacturer that instructed the side view mirrors should be folded in at speeds over 30 mph and not used. The manufacturer was contacted and stated the repair was delayed, because a remedy was not currently available.

The contact stated while driving the driver's side door developed a short circuit in the electric rearview mirror switch and caught on fire. He was able to put the fire out with the water hose. The manufacturer sent an inspector to estimate the damage, and the vehicle was repaired. Updated 1/11/2006 - recall 03v093000 was initiated but it only covered the 1997 and 1998 models.

While parked power side view mirror switch caught on fire. As a result, the plastic on the door was damaged.

Windshield wipers work intermittently. Consumer has to get out and pull the windshield wipers to get them working. Recall 03v159000 was issued. However, this vehicle is not included due to VIN. Also, mirror adjustment button on the driver side overheated. The cover came off after it melted. Recall 03v093000 was issued concerning rear mirror failure.

While driving at 40 mph, the consumer smelled smoke and noticed smoke was coming from the left door the panel,the consumer pulled over and heavy smoke entered the vehicle. As a result, the door panel melted. The consumer indicated there was a recall regarding the same problem, NHTSA recall 03v093000, pickup trucks may develop a short circuit in the electric outside rearview mirror switch. Please provide further information.

I have this same problem as jb---driver's outside rearview mirror (heated and light dimming) reflected image is severely distorted. There has been no damage to the mirror, but it is distorted and at night it is very hard to tell how many vehicles are behind because each headlight appears to be 3 or 4 headlights. This is a safety issue.

Driver's outside rearview mirror (heated and light dimming) reflected image is severely distorted. There has been no damage to the mirror, but it is distorted and at night it is very hard to tell how many vehicles are behind because each headlight appears to be 3 or 4 headlights. This is a safety issue. My step-daughter bought a Tahoe from a different dealer about a month before and she has the same problem with hers.

Consumer stated the driver side mirror hits on mirror frame when folded in, and cracked mirror glass, consumer believes the design of the mirror mouting is flawed.
