The contact owns a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving at speeds of 65 mph in rainy weather, the windshield wipers would not
function when turned on. The vehicle was not taken to an
authorized dealer but the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that there were no recalls on his vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.

1. Door locks failed. Have been replaced multiple times. As a result, my 7 week old baby got locked in the car in 100 degree weather in August. It continues to be an issue and often I have to resort in climbing through the back tailgate. 2. Stabilitrack and traction control lights flash. Sometimes after these lights flash, my vehicle will go into "reduced power mode" on its on which is very dangerous going 65 mph or pulling out from somewhere. 3. My wipers work when they want to. . . Ever since the two recalls Chevrolet released, the work intermittently when they want to. 4. Major electrical issues with these vehicles. . . . I have replaced the battery four times and something continues to drain it.

We have had trouble with our front wipers turning on and squirting wiper fluid in the off (yes the off) position while we are driving. The car must be turned off and restarted to stop the wipers and squirting fluid. This has happened about 15 times since we bought our new SUV. It never does it when we bring it into the dealership so they can't find a problem. The last time it happened, there was very dense white smoke before the wipers started moving and shooting fluid (once again. . . It was totally in the off position!!!). Now the intermittent wiper mode does not work at all. These occurrences are very, very distracting when trying to drive! we just received a recall notice for our 2007 Tahoe but I have concerns about possible fire risk because I know we definitely have an issue related to the recall. Can we get the recall fixed before November 1, 2008 and still have it covered under the recall?
the last episode was this month.

The contact owns a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe. The windshield wipers would operate sporadically for approximately 400 miles and then became completely inoperable. The dealer stated a 50% probability that the failure was caused by the windshield wiper motor controller circuit board. The dealer never made the repairs. The contact felt that this vehicle should be included in recall # 03v159000. The current and failure mileage were 38,000. Ak the consumer stated that the car was repaired on 03/02/07 and also states dealer has possession of the old part. Updated 05/22/07.
Windshield wipers occasionally would stop working or not work at all resulting in loss of visibility in inclement weather. Dealer in local area stated problem was not covered by any recalls (gm truck/SUV windshield wiper recall specifically asked about, but apparently only covers vehicles up through 1996). Corrected problem by replacing wiper motor circuit board and cover myself using recall documentation and procedures applicable to 1996 Tahoe.
: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the windshield wiper/washer worked intermittently. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer, but the manufacturer was alerted.

Windshield wipers work intermittently creating a hazardous or dangerous driving condition. I have been stranded many times with this defect. I would like it fixed.
Windshield wipers will only work on high. When the wipers are turned off they will not return to their appropriate place of rest. This creates a distraction while driving. I will take to a gm dealer for repair. I hoped to find recall information on this web site, but I could not. I suppose this has not been recalled, but from hearsay seems to be a common problem.

: the consumer stated the windshield wipers work intermittently. There is a NHTSA recall, # 98v150001, regarding the windshield wipers. The consumer has the same problem as indicated in the recall; however the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.
Windshield wipers work intermittently if at all, I understand there was a recall for this in the 1997 Chevrolet Tahoes and other vehicles, I understand that it only covered certain manufacturing plants, I am flabbergasted that if this is a problem in all the vehicles why they will not fix this problem for consumers. It is a very big safety concern.
Without any warning the wipers stopped working. The consumer went to the manufacturer and they said that they will not help the consumer with a vehicle that is from 1998 and up. The consumer has had trouble with the dealer in the past and does not want to go to them yet.
The windshield wipers came on and off intermittently while driving in inclement weather. The wipers would stop in any position. The consumer would tap the circuit board and the wipers would work again. A new circuit board was purchased and the problem was remedied. The consumer would like to know how many has gm replaced. Gm suggested that there was a recall but the mileage was too high and they would not replace the part.
Intermittent inoperative windshield wipers. Same as recall 98v150001. Has been going on for a year. I now know what the problem is.

I have a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe that has windshield wipers that do not work. This began about 3 years ago. At first the wipers worked intermittently and are now at the point where they do not work at all. I own a 1997 Chevrolet ck 3500 pick-up that also experienced this problem and this vehicle has had the windshield wipers repaired as the VIN for the pick-up was on the recall list. According to recall #03v159000, year model 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe vehicles are also affected and are the ones eligible for repair. It seems very apparent that the same circuit board that was used in 1996 vehicles has also been used in 1997 vehicles as I own a 1997 and it had this problem, as stated above. I am requesting that this vehicle also be eligible for the recall #03v159000 and therefore have the windshield wipers replaced.
Windshield wipers operate intermittently, making it difficult to see the road during inclement weather. Manufacturer has been contacted by consumer.
While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wipers would come on and go off intermittently. The consumer noticed when the weather was dry, the windshield wipers would come on. The driver drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. Please fill in additional information.
The consumer was having the same problem as recall#03v159000 regarding the windshield wiper. The dealership would not repair free of charge, because the VIN was not included.
Windshield wipers stop running intermittingly.
Windshield wipers are erratic in operating. Sometimes they will not work at all , or start and stop on their own. Intermittent operation is almost non-exisistant. You have to either tap on the motor under the hood or pull on the arms to get them to work. Sometimes you have to wait for the rain to stop so you can continue to drive. This has been an ongoing problem for months and I have called several dealers in my area with my only option was to pay for the repairs. I have since talked to a lot of other owners that have the same problem.
Windshield wipers/washer fails to either start or to continue wiping when on. They just "stop" for no apparent reason.
While driving in inclement weather the windshield wipers would come on and go off own their own. The dealer was aware of the problem. The consumer has contacted the dealer for an appointment. This problem is intermittent and also this caused poor visibility while driving. Please fill in additional information.
The windshield wipers of our 1998 Tahoe stopped working. Sometimes we would have to push them to get them started, other times we would have to jiggle the wiring to get them going. They would sometimes work for the remainder of the trip, other times they would stop every few minutes. There is no consistency to when they will work. We were stranded out of town in a heavy rainstorm. This is the same problem as the 94-97 recall and needs to be included. I spoke with Chevrolet and a local dealer. Both acted like they knew nothing about the problem until I mentioned the prior recall, then they just said we were not covered. This is a serious safety problem and chrvrolet needs to be held accountable for fixing the problem.
Intermittently while driving at any speed the windshield wipers did not work properly. This problem occurred ten times in the last three months. Tahoe had a recall on the wiper motor circuit board and cover on the 1994 through 1997 vehicles.
Intermittently when the windshield wipers are engaged the motor buzzes but the wipers don't engage. A service rep,. Told the consumer to bang on the casing when this occurs. The truck's VIN # is not included in the windshield wiper recall 03v159000. . . . If gm knows ther eis a problem with this wiper motor and has recalled certain vins. I see no reason why my VIN shouldn't be considered- aproblem-is a problem-since this model was on early 1999-purchased in may of 1998. Is it possible it has parts that were recalled on other vehicles earlier models. I do not feel I should have to pay on other vehicles, earlier models? I do not feel I should hav eto pay for a known problem tha tis a factory recall.
While driving in inclement weather, the windshield wipers came on and off on their own. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic informed consumer that recall expired on February 29, 2004.
While driving from boerne, TX to dallas, TX the windshield wipers failed during a rainstorm while on highway. I have had to have the dealer replace the windshield wiper module. There have already been two other recalls by gm on 1994-1997 and 2002-2003 suvs for the exact same problem; windshield wiper module failure.
Windshield wipers on my 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe suddenly stopped, then become intermittent, then may work fine for a few minutes then stop again. Acts like there is an intermittent issue with the circuit board for the wipers. Very dangerous to happen when I was driving in hard rainstorm.
Drove into rainstorm. Turned on wipers. After two sweeps, they quit, but motor continued to run. Pulled into service station. Attendant raised hood, jiggled the wiper wiring harness. Wipers worked; then quit. Repeated jiggle; wipers worked until I reached home. Checked with local Chevrolet dealer. No recall listed, but service agent said she was familiar with problem and had seen it on several other Chevrolets.
Windshield wipers failed while driving in moderate rain resulting in near zero visibility through the windshield. Symptoms are exactly as described in NHTSA campaign #03v159000. Vehicle affected is a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet customer service representatives say this vehicle is not affected by the recall issued for 94 through 96 model vehicles.
Windshield wipers fail intermittently. When the Tahoe has been driven for a long distance (hot) wipers sometimes fail to work. When Tahoe is cold wipers usually work. They act very similar to my 1995 GMC jimmy before it was recalled for wiper circuit board failure.
Windshield wipers hesitate and starts moving when not on. Also, it won't turn off and stop halfway up with windshield - this is an every week occurrence.
The windshield wipers worked intermittently.
Windshield wipers often do not come on or will come on and stop. This first occurred in 2000. The first time this happened, it left me stranded on the side of an interstate highway. The man who stopped to assist me hit a box under the hood to make the wipers come on. This action has started the wipers ever since.
The windshield wipers suddenly stopped working, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.
