1 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

Power steering failed instantaneously while driving in traffic while making a left turn at 15mph on a city intersection. Luckily an accident was avoided. Took the car to the dealership for a diagnosis. Apparenly the steering motor has failed and in turn they recommend replacing the entire "steering gear" gm # 84368394 for $2250. Called gm, they stated that the car is out of warranty and this failure is considered normal wear and tear. There is an existing recall for the 2015 Tahoe model, but this VIN is not included so they will not cover the repair. The recall referenced is, NHTSA campaign # 4v719, gm recall 14743,.

2 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that there was a progressive power steering failure that occurred without warning. The suspension was also unstable in the rear associated with the rear wheels. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they replaced the 4-wheel driver module, which did not remedy the failure. While traveling approximately 35 mph, the steering wheel locked without warning and the wheels in the rear locked. The contact applied force to correct the failure, but the steering wheel and the rear wheels locked. The vehicle veered to the left and crashed into a 1996 GMC sierra 3500. The front air bags and side air bags deployed with force. The driver sustained major injuries to the right arm and the left leg as well as extensive abrasions. The driver had to receive medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a wrecking yard and then to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not inspected by the insurance adjustor to determine the extent of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

3 Power Steering Failed problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Failure Date: 03/13/2015

The power steering has completely failed on the the vehicle. The power steering pump has been replaced 2-3 times. My next step is the intermediate shaft or the gearbox but I have to spend $90 to have a diagnostics test run to determine what the exact issue is. I read some blogs online that said chevy had a recall on this issue but the dealer I called told me that there were not any recalls.
