At low speeds the steering wheel locks up and become very difficult to turn. This has been an issue for a few years and only happens randomly. Reviewing n212333901 it is the same symptoms but for some reason my VIN is not covered in the recall while is the same year as affected vehicles (2021 Tahoe z71).

I was driving down [xxx] in lapuente and every light on my dash lit up and I attempted to exit freeway and my brakes would not work so I waited for car to slow down and luckily I was near by the puente hills Chevrolet dealer. Also my steering wheel was very lose and it felt that I couldn’t steer well. I pulled into dealership and had to push my brakes all the way to the floor board just for Tahoe to stop. Dealer said that there was various communication codes which they said vehicle would have to stay due to safety issues. My vehicle has been at dealer for 3 days so far information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

In addition, the incident appears to have caused damage to the trailer harness wiring. • how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the malfunction placed my safety and the safety of others at significant risk. When the alert appeared, I lost steering control of the vehicle and nearly collided, which could have resulted in a serious accident. • has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the problem has not yet been reproduced or formally confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. • has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. However, I am prepared to make it available for immediate inspection. • were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes. A “service steering column lock” message appeared at the time of the incident, immediately prior to the sudden loss of steering control and the resulting issue with the trailer harness wiring.
Creaking and groaning from rack and pinion. 60,000 miles on vehicle. No other issues. Potential steering system failure. No warning lights. Happens at all speeds.

The stabilitrak notification comes on constantly. While we are driving/reversing and turn our steering wheel the whole car will shut down and the steering wheel jerks. It's happened multiple times. It takes forever for the car to turn back on. This is super dangerous and cause myself and my children to end up getting hit by another vehicle while on the road.

The safety system needs serviced/repaired and the alert has been present for months, and investigated by gm licensed dealership but not repaired, after several requests. The safety of drivers and passengers has been neglected and the high risk for injury and death while occupying the 2021 chevy Tahoe. Also on 06/11/2025 the eps power steering system failed, with the system alert showing up on the driver's dash. This is a cause for major concern and is noted that 2021 chevy Tahoe vehicles have an outstanding recall for those affected. The licensed gm dealership was contacted on 06/12/2025 and again, denied the repair and/or ability for the vehicle to be operated safely. The Tahoe has been taken to the shop over the last 12-16 months and as of this day, occupants of this vehicle are at very high risk for injury and death due to the service safety system alert and the failed eps system. I am compelled to take additional action, to prevent injury and death unless these issues are able to be immediately resolved.
The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe seems to be known for thermostat failure. My thermostat gauge while driving would drop from 210 to 160 and stay pinned on 160 and the fans would turn on. I was told by an auto body shop that it seemed to be electric issues. I also had a wire under the car catch fire and the auto body shop said that is why my standing lights would not work in the rear but my brake lights would work. It’s very dangerous that the electrical failure caused a fire to start under the car. Then, I ran into another issue just this week where the vehicle has a cracked ac condenser and is slowly losing coolant. It’s a manufacturing issue because all of them seem to crack and we’re not made with a proper seal. Another electrical issue I have is when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right, even when the key is in and engine is on, the engine will shut off. The car completely shuts off and then I have to turn the key to the off position and then it will turn right back on. The steering wheel is also losing power steering and gets very tight when I have to make a turn. The fuses for my radio are blown and when you put new ones in, it blows immediately and doesn’t turn on. I have many issues with this vehicle and it’s obviously a manufacturer issue. This is not ok for a vehicle to all around have such horrible electrical issues. I have had issues driving over a pothole and I lose my radio screen or my whole dash screen and then the dealer and auto body shops say the electrical work is too in depth for them.
Went to my car during lunch at work, turned on but car won’t crank up. Screen says service steering column lock, front collision unavailable.

While driving at approximately 25-30 mph the steering system locked up for a 2-3 second period not allowing the driver to maintain the desired direction of vehicle movement. The first incident occurred while navigating a turn in the road, the second occurred while turning left at an intersection. The vehicle has since been parked waiting on the dealership to get the vehicle in for diagnostic check to see if the problem can be determined. The occurrences were approximately 1 week apart. The risk is losing control of the vehicle for a short period of time, putting occupants of said vehicle at risk of being in an accident and potentially injured as well as putting other drivers on the road at risk. Vehicle is scheduled to go to dealership on may 7, however dealership is unable to provide a time frame of when they will be able to examine the vehicle. There were no warning indicators on the dashboard prior to the incident occurring nor were there any after the incident occurred.
I had no issues that would hint there was an issue with my power steering. I stopped at a drive thru, and when leaving and crossing 4 lanes to get into a lane, my power steering went out in the middle, driving less than 20 mph. I am very lucky that no cars were coming and I was able to pull into a parking lot that was across the street. My 3 kids were in the car when this occurred, and it seems this is a common occurance. This is a safety issue that needs addressed before someone gets killed.

My truck keeps shutting off and steering locks up.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle in a parking lot and returning to start the vehicle, the “power steering assist fault” message was displayed, and the vehicle was difficult to turn to the right or the left. The contact left the vehicle in the parking lot and after returning to the vehicle later and starting the vehicle, the vehicle had regained power steering assist functionality. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the 12-volt battery needed to be replaced. The contact was advised by the mechanic that due to the weak battery, the power steering assist failed to operate as designed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that several weeks later the power steering assist failure recurred. The contact stated that the "power steering assist fault" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 21v455000 (steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

The vehicle is making a loud ticking noise which leads me to suspect this car has similar, if not the same issue as the 21-24 recalled l87 6. 2 engines. I took it in the first time, they couldn’t reproduce the noise but I already have video documented footage over a few days with the sound of knocking/ticking from the motor. After they did an early oil change at the same mileage I brought the vehicle in for diagnosis, the sound completely went away. A few hundred miles later the sound has come back and the engine is knocking at idle. I have another inspection/ appointment this coming week for the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle makes loud noises from the steering column after it has been turned off. It also seems to wander when driving the vehicle and the steering wheel assists cause the wandering within lane. It is very unsafe to drive this vehicle due to these two issues.
Driving down the freeway at 75 mph and the headlight started flickering any time I would use my blinker. 5 minutes later the car automatically breaks hard all by itself along with the dash lights going off and the doors locking and unlocking. 3 days later driving in town taking a hard left suddenly I get alerts on the dashboard saying, "parking assist off" and "stabilitrak" then suddenly my steering wheel jerks violently all the way to the right. This happened 2x when I am driving!!! it is available for inspection upon request. If this steering wheel malfunction happens to someone driving down an interstate someone could die. It just happened yesterday so I have not gotten it in to be looked at yet. There was zero warning it all happens suddenly and out of nowhere.
While driving 70mph on the interstate, my 2022 Tahoe stopped accelerating, the engine seized, and shifted in to neutral at 52,000. I was able to coast to the side of an extremely busy interstate, right before a bridge and wait for assistance. The dealer confirmed this is a problem known to this vehicle. The engine is on backorder, even under warranty. They say an spac has been filed and I had to make a claim to gm to reimburse them for the starter, battery block, and battery they decided to replace first. They said it could take up to 3 months to receive a new engine and there was a waitlist for a 10day loaner car. The vehicle had just been at the dealer for a 50,000 mile check up and warranty repair. There were no other symptoms prior to this catastrophic engine failure.

On 4 plus occasions, the steering wheel would lock up, I would get warnings that the stabilitrak, the park assist was disabled. The engine shut off. This happens during driving.
First occasion the car drove fine with no indication of an issue. Then once the car was turned off then on, the dash showed no lights or gauges and indicated that the steering assist is not working and the wheel was impossible to turn (almost like a limp mode but not driveable). Disconnected the battery to try and clear the issue and car drove home fine. Was told it could be a bad battery so replaced the battery and it worked fine for about a month. Then again with no indication did it again and this time it cleared itself after about 30 minutes. Dealer said there was a short in the negative battery ground cable and an open circuit in the rack and pinion mechanism but that the rack and pinion part was not available and they weren’t sure when it would be (probably due to excessive failures). Replaced the negative battery ground part and everything was fine for about 3 months until today when the car did the same thing again. We will have to keep looking for the unavailable part or I will basically have a $30k paper weight. Very concerned at the possibility that the steering will go out while I am driving as others have mentioned in previous posts. Seems as though something tragic will have to happen before they issue a recall of a part that appears to be a common failure.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 65 mph, the steering wheel jerked to the left and to the right. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that some unstated bolts had sheared off and an alignment was needed. The contact stated that the rear anchor arm was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
A few thing is on my car I have got new battery, right hub barrier and to get left repaired! light on in care say contraction something has to do by power steering.

All driver assist functions failing.
While driving in atleast in awd and I think it happened in 2wd. My abs light comes on with stabilitrack and trailer break. Once that happens driving feels weird like breaks are closing in. Turning is extremely difficult cause it feels like all this are breaking. Then once I stop the car it kicks forward after the car is off.
So I got a 2015 chevy Tahoe that had recalls done but the problems are still there. The power steering works like every 10th time starting the SUV.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at a slow speed and while making a left turn into traffic the power steering assist malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to turn causing the vehicle to erroneously drive into a busy intersection. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,000.
The power steering motor went out while I was driving. The message center on my dashboard alerted me just seconds before I couldn't steer. Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. The mechanic ordered the part and replaced it. The process took 3 weeks total to get the part, replace it and chevy dealer reprogramming it.
Power steering went out with kids in the car when vehicle only had 76000 miles. There was a special coverage for 2018 models that my VIN was not a part of. Had it been this wouldn't have happened to my family. I was without a vehicle for over 2 weeks since dealership had to reach out to gm to find the part. Apparently, this is big issue for other models and years which explains the part shortage. A few months prior there was a service power steering on my dash, and I couldn't turn my steering wheel. Took it to dealership and they brushed it off as computer issue. Again, I feel if my vehicle was part of the special coverage, I wouldn't have experienced this issue or had to pay over $2000 to repair it.
While barely moving, (about 2 mph), in a parking lot & preparing to make a sharp left turn, knuckle of driver's side wheel assembly suddenly broke, causing the wheel assembly to collapse, wheel top tilted inward and bottom tilted outward, causing major damage to upper and lower control arms, tie rod and significant body damage to two body parts at the wheel opening. Mechanic reported that there had been very excessive ‘play’ before the collapse at 86,000 miles, this is a very low-mileage for this degree of wear and complete failure, on a full-size, ppv SUV, with many heavy-duty features, designed to tolerate high stress usage. Fortuately, the car was barely rolling. If this had happened 5 minutes later, I would have been driving 65 mph and this would have caused a catastrophic wreck, could have involved several other cars, and could have injured or even killed many people. I am now very concerned about the condition of the knuckle on the passenger side. It could be developing microscopic cracks that would only be observable with x-ray. Especially with this defect being on a very popular police model, highway patrol ppv vehicle, more failures will endanger many people.

Car died with no dash warning. Had battery and alternator checked, battery checked out perfectly fine but alternator needed replacing. Replaced brand new alternator. After replacing, message came up “power steering drive with care”. Steering went completely hard, no other messages or absolutely any lights on dash. Unable to drive due to car steering wheel being locked.
Vehicle lost power steering while driving. Steering became difficult and unsafe while family was in vehicle.

I was driving I almost crashed I lost my power steering.
Hello, I purchased my truck last year in December and I told them the problems I was having with the truck when I got. They act like they fixed it but it’s still doing the same thing. I’ve put struts on it and control arms 3 times and it still is giving me problems. My suspension and driver assist warnings always pop up. When I get up to 85 mph, they truck shakes really bad and the speed won’t go over 85 mph. When I got brakes, the trucks pulls to the left and right which I know that could mean a line up but even after I line it up, it still does the same thing. I feel like it’s a defect with the suspension and driver assist systems with those model trucks. I love my truck and really don’t want to get rid of it. I’ve taken my truck to my dealership several times and I don’t want my warranty to run out before I can get my truck fixed. Can you help at all???.
While driving home from corner store, power steering locked up with very little play left or right. My vehicle is undrivable and parked at this time until I figure out what to do. I understand that gm issued a recall for such safety issues in 2018. I just brought my vehicle a year or so ago. Please advise, thanks.
Brake control module failed and is available for inspection. It is still at the dealership as the part needed for repair is backordered. I had trouble braking and steering vehicle putting myself and others at risk but fortunately was in a parking lot at low speed. Problem has been inspected confirmed by dealership only. Warning lamps/messages first appeared at time of incident, none prior.
