While driving 70mph on the interstate, my 2022 Tahoe stopped accelerating, the engine seized, and shifted in to neutral at 52,000. I was able to coast to the side of an extremely busy interstate, right before a bridge and wait for assistance. The dealer confirmed this is a problem known to this vehicle. The engine is on backorder, even under warranty. They say an spac has been filed and I had to make a claim to gm to reimburse them for the starter, battery block, and battery they decided to replace first. They said it could take up to 3 months to receive a new engine and there was a waitlist for a 10day loaner car. The vehicle had just been at the dealer for a 50,000 mile check up and warranty repair. There were no other symptoms prior to this catastrophic engine failure.

First occasion the car drove fine with no indication of an issue. Then once the car was turned off then on, the dash showed no lights or gauges and indicated that the steering assist is not working and the wheel was impossible to turn (almost like a limp mode but not driveable). Disconnected the battery to try and clear the issue and car drove home fine. Was told it could be a bad battery so replaced the battery and it worked fine for about a month. Then again with no indication did it again and this time it cleared itself after about 30 minutes. Dealer said there was a short in the negative battery ground cable and an open circuit in the rack and pinion mechanism but that the rack and pinion part was not available and they weren’t sure when it would be (probably due to excessive failures). Replaced the negative battery ground part and everything was fine for about 3 months until today when the car did the same thing again. We will have to keep looking for the unavailable part or I will basically have a $30k paper weight. Very concerned at the possibility that the steering will go out while I am driving as others have mentioned in previous posts. Seems as though something tragic will have to happen before they issue a recall of a part that appears to be a common failure.

All driver assist functions failing.
While driving in atleast in awd and I think it happened in 2wd. My abs light comes on with stabilitrack and trailer break. Once that happens driving feels weird like breaks are closing in. Turning is extremely difficult cause it feels like all this are breaking. Then once I stop the car it kicks forward after the car is off.
So I got a 2015 chevy Tahoe that had recalls done but the problems are still there. The power steering works like every 10th time starting the SUV.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at a slow speed and while making a left turn into traffic the power steering assist malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to turn causing the vehicle to erroneously drive into a busy intersection. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,000.
The power steering motor went out while I was driving. The message center on my dashboard alerted me just seconds before I couldn't steer. Luckily I was on a residential street and was able to get out of the road with a lot of effort steering. The car was taken to a local mechanic and we were told the power steering motor went out. The mechanic ordered the part and replaced it. The process took 3 weeks total to get the part, replace it and chevy dealer reprogramming it.

Power steering went out with kids in the car when vehicle only had 76000 miles. There was a special coverage for 2018 models that my VIN was not a part of. Had it been this wouldn't have happened to my family. I was without a vehicle for over 2 weeks since dealership had to reach out to gm to find the part. Apparently, this is big issue for other models and years which explains the part shortage. A few months prior there was a service power steering on my dash, and I couldn't turn my steering wheel. Took it to dealership and they brushed it off as computer issue. Again, I feel if my vehicle was part of the special coverage, I wouldn't have experienced this issue or had to pay over $2000 to repair it.
While barely moving, (about 2 mph), in a parking lot & preparing to make a sharp left turn, knuckle of driver's side wheel assembly suddenly broke, causing the wheel assembly to collapse, wheel top tilted inward and bottom tilted outward, causing major damage to upper and lower control arms, tie rod and significant body damage to two body parts at the wheel opening. Mechanic reported that there had been very excessive ‘play’ before the collapse at 86,000 miles, this is a very low-mileage for this degree of wear and complete failure, on a full-size, ppv SUV, with many heavy-duty features, designed to tolerate high stress usage. Fortuately, the car was barely rolling. If this had happened 5 minutes later, I would have been driving 65 mph and this would have caused a catastrophic wreck, could have involved several other cars, and could have injured or even killed many people. I am now very concerned about the condition of the knuckle on the passenger side. It could be developing microscopic cracks that would only be observable with x-ray. Especially with this defect being on a very popular police model, highway patrol ppv vehicle, more failures will endanger many people.

Car died with no dash warning. Had battery and alternator checked, battery checked out perfectly fine but alternator needed replacing. Replaced brand new alternator. After replacing, message came up “power steering drive with care”. Steering went completely hard, no other messages or absolutely any lights on dash. Unable to drive due to car steering wheel being locked.
Vehicle lost power steering while driving. Steering became difficult and unsafe while family was in vehicle.

I was driving I almost crashed I lost my power steering.
Hello, I purchased my truck last year in December and I told them the problems I was having with the truck when I got. They act like they fixed it but it’s still doing the same thing. I’ve put struts on it and control arms 3 times and it still is giving me problems. My suspension and driver assist warnings always pop up. When I get up to 85 mph, they truck shakes really bad and the speed won’t go over 85 mph. When I got brakes, the trucks pulls to the left and right which I know that could mean a line up but even after I line it up, it still does the same thing. I feel like it’s a defect with the suspension and driver assist systems with those model trucks. I love my truck and really don’t want to get rid of it. I’ve taken my truck to my dealership several times and I don’t want my warranty to run out before I can get my truck fixed. Can you help at all???.
While driving home from corner store, power steering locked up with very little play left or right. My vehicle is undrivable and parked at this time until I figure out what to do. I understand that gm issued a recall for such safety issues in 2018. I just brought my vehicle a year or so ago. Please advise, thanks.
Brake control module failed and is available for inspection. It is still at the dealership as the part needed for repair is backordered. I had trouble braking and steering vehicle putting myself and others at risk but fortunately was in a parking lot at low speed. Problem has been inspected confirmed by dealership only. Warning lamps/messages first appeared at time of incident, none prior.
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the warning message "service restraint system" was displayed and the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electrical wiring under the front driver’s side seat was damaged from moving the seat back and forth. In addition, the contact also indicated that while operating the vehicle the message "power steering" was displayed and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

On several occasions at various speeds, both driving straight and turning, my 2015 chevy Tahoe has turned off. During higher speeds the SUV will turn back on, instantly, by itself but during lower speeds and turning the car has to be manual turned back on by switching into neutral, pressing the break, and pushing the start button. The most recent time this has happened, it was dark outside and I was turning. I lost everything including my head and tail lights so it was hard for oncoming traffic to see me. I also almost hit someone coming in the other lane because I was unable to fully turn due to the loss of power steering. After this happens, I get many warning/action required messages across the dashboard but no check engine light or code have come up. I will be taking it to the dealer but since it does not happen every time the care is driven, I can only hope they can experience what happens.
Power steering has failed completely, can not turn at all unless its slightly.
I was involved in an accident last year where I took out a gaurd rail next to a building. My air bags never deployed and now my car will not run.
Complete loss of electronic power steering. My children safety along with my own was put at risk. This problem was supposedly repaired by courtesy Chevrolet of ruston,la July 2021.
Six days ago my 2015 chevy Tahoe had a sudden loss of power steering assist while driving down the road after having to come to a sudden stop. The sudden loss and stop required me to jar to the r side of the road. Later in the evening while driving home from work, suddenly my power steering began to work again - causing the steering wheel to have a lot of "play" in the turning of the wheel. This sudden loss and sudden return of power steering has increased since the first incident and happens more often than not. Every time the loss or return happen to the steering, I feel like I lose control of the vehicle to an extent depending on the speed of the vehicle. I am a single mom with two little children who are constantly with me in our vehicle which concerns me for all of our safety. I have done my due diligence on contacting the local chevy dealership, gm and even the better business bureau due to not being able to get to the bottom of this and continuously being told there's no recall connected to my VIN. There was a recall previously for the power steering assist motor kit in 2015 chevy Tahoes. According to gm which I contacted today, my vehicle was a part of this recall and the assist motor kid was "fixed" which is why there are no current recalls on my VIN. We were told there was a 12 thousand mile warranty that was placed on this new assist motor kit however, the same issue is now happening again. In the initial recall, chevy was told that dealers are to replace power steering assist motor kit due to increased risk of crash. Dealers are to service all vehicles subject to the recall at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle or ownership from this time forward. The fact that I am having the same issue with the assist motor after its already been "replaced" is quite concerning for me, my children and quite frankly other bystanders or other drivers with the increased risk of an mva. I had an auto body shop diagnose the issue with the same resu.
Power steering assist, abs and skid control failed all at once during travel. Also emergency brake light lit up along with these other warnings. Hard to steer. The vehicle has not yet been inspected. Scheduling that now. All dash warning lights lit up along with warning messages just as the failures occurred. Upon restarting the vehicle the failures reset to normal operation. Note: the vehicle had been running and idling in very hot temps ~101.
The power steering failed while driving and we had our baby in the car. We had to make quick adjustment to our driving. We made it home bit very difficultly. I believe there is a problem with the control module because I was able to get it working again but almost immediately it faults out again.
My wife was driving everything was working fine until a message came on the dash "steering stopped drive with care" she was mid way in a turn to get on highway when this happened if I wasn't in vehicle to grab the wheel my wife would have ended up in a wall or worst case in the canal next to 95 with my 4 year old in the car. The vehicle is currently at a chevorlet dealer in greenacres florida and they say the electric steering gear has stopped working. . This seams like a very unsafe system as when it stops the steering wheel is very stiff more than a old car with no power steering. I think this needs to be investigated yesterday as someone could die from this if it hasn't happened already. As of right now I no longer feel that this is a safe vehicle for my wife to be driving.
I purchased the gm sts2 software and program my truck and now I have no brakes, have all lights on with calibration and rams problem I’m sure that the calibration they provided to me, costed this problem and none off the lights are turning off, the truck lost brakes I have to stand on the paddle to stop the truck. Now I have no choice to send it the gm for there mistake. I spoke to acdelco sts2 rep. And he couldn’t figure out the problem. And the hybrid system issue also. Both front air bag impact sensors cracks in the middle turns the light on. That’s been a fault with all gm trucks. They need to update this problem.
Sudden and unexpected loss of power steering several times. In all cases, the loss of power steering has happened when starting the car. Turning the ignition off and immediately on again did not resolve the issue. Turning the ignition off and letting the car sit for 10 minutes before re-starting the car appeared to resolve the issue. The vehicle has been inspected several times by the service department of mayer Chevrolet in st. Petersburg, florida, who has been unable to replicate the issue and therefore has responded that they are unable to resolve the issue. Gm has issued a recall for the same issue that has been identified on the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and other related gm vehicles, recognizing there is an issue, but no recall exists for the 2019 Tahoe. Issue continues to happen every few months.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 35-40 mph, the power steering assist failed. The failure occurred on several occasions, which nearly caused a collision. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Steering wheel hard to turn and locks for a short period when making turns going low speeds. (turning into parking spot or reversing out of parking spot) when steering in reverse, front dashboard shut down and returned in 1 second with a restart. Left in middle of road trying to back into driveway. Car parked and started, car windshield wipers were activated while in garage, radio station was reset & wouldn't allow to be changed, and car gave action required notifications on dashboard (power open & close driver window & passenger window) park assist off light shows after steering issues. Tire sensors reset compass recalibrated.
My engine light keeps coming on randomly. When this occurs, the dashboard lights blinks and I get a " steering assist" error message. Once this happens it is really hard for me to steer and I lose acceleration as well. Imagine losing acceleration in the middle of an intersection. Also, I noticed my temperature gauge moves up & down as well. I have taken it to the dealership each time it happens and they are saying they haven't been able to replicate the issue. The engine light only stays on for a few hours or days and the problem goes away once the engine light is off. From my research, this was the same exact problems the 2015 chevy Tahoes had as well. I don't understand why they cannot figure why I am having this issue. The engine light errors code listed alot of issues yet they still can't diagnose a problem. They have updated the system and checked all wire connections per the dealership. This is my third or fourth time complaining about this issue and this is the dealership's third or fourth time trying to diagnose the problem but they keep telling me they can't.

Vehicle randomly throws stabilitrak, traction control and abs codes. Engine derates to limp mode. Transmission goes to full line pressure shifts. A cycle of the ignition system will reset the system a majority of the time. There is no "recall" but the general consensus in the mechanical world is two things cause this issue. Throttle body is bad and/or the steering position sensor fails causing the stabilitrak system to be disabled (which in a 2013 Tahoe, stabilitrak cannot be turned off) I have replaced the throttle body with an oem part and the problem still occurs with our vehicle. It is a big enough of a parts failure/equipment failure that most of my mechanic buddies I've talked to knew exactly what I was talking about and said I replaced these two parts and the problem was solved. May not be enough for a recall but a TSB really should be issued because I've found a lot of information online that a lot of people are having this same issue. Between this website's complaint section and other chevy/gm forums, I'm estimating 5000-10000 people have had similar issues with the stabilitrak being disabled somehow while driving. Manufacturers need to be held accountable for parts failures like this, as when recalls do finally happen, it is next to impossible to get the vehicle in and repaired in a timely matter (takata air bag inflator issue is a great example, our local dealer cannot give me an estimated date they can get the vehicle in for repairs because its a mass parts recall and the replacement parts are unavailable) incident has happened over a dozen times in the past 6 months but the additional details will not let me select multiple dates.
