Takata recall - recall was issued may 27, 2016 for passenger side airbag - 16v381. Gm has no information when parts will be available for the repair and I was told they are waiting for the NHTSA to approve the replacement procedure and parts. When will the parts be available? I also have a 2011 Toyota corolla with the same issue and no answers. It has been 6 months and we have no answers from NHTSA! please act.

Passenger side airbag explosively inflated while driving approximately 30 miles per hour on an inner city street. No jarring or collision occurred directly prior to this incident. This appears unprovoked and poses a major safety risk to consumer. We have young children who could have been seriously injured in this incident. Thankfully they were not in the vehicle at the time and it was the passenger side which exploded and not the driver side. Any of theses scenarios would have (and did) easily endanger the driver and other individuals on or near the road when incident occurred. I immediately turned into a Chevrolet dealership and am currently awaiting word on what exactly caused the airbag inflation.
A-pillar water leak - vehicle is not designed to have water in the a-pillar. Water may have damaged side air curtain.

Dashboard is cracked in three locations. 1st and 2nd: over passenger side airbag from upper corners of the airbag to the air-vent panel 3rd: approximately 8 inches along the top of the driver instrument panel to the air-vent panel. Additional separation between panels is created during temperature changes or running the heater in cold weather. Have had two dealerships tell me it is a normal, known, and reoccurring problem with the body-style but offered to replace it for over $1,000.
The dashboard has cracked next to the passenger side airbag decreasing structural integrity of the dash and increasing the risk of plastic shards being ejected at the passenger during airbag deployment. Manufacturer is aware of the issue and refuses to replace dashboard. Vehicle is on 3 years old.

Dash is cracked over instrument panel, and 2 spots over the passenger side airbag. The cracks get bigger everyday and makes the dash rattle. Bought in 2016 and the cracks just keep getting worse. Along with the drivers side door handle that cracked inside.
The dash at the corner of my passenger side airbag cracked and now the entire dash rattles. I am worried about how this affects the airbag now. The dash was vibrating so much and it just keeps getting worse. I have looked online and apparently, I am not even close to being the only one with this problem. Please help!.

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag and the instrument cluster. This is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from gm.
There is a crack in the dash that extends from the passenger side airbag area. I am concerned with the fact that if the airbag were to deploy it could propel plastic material into the cabin and at the passengers.

The dashboard on my 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe has two severe cracks. . . One above the instrument panel and the other beside the passenger side airbag. It would seem that this crack could interfere with the effectiveness of the airbag. This is a known issue with these vehicles.
I, like several hundred chevy Tahoe, gm owners (approximate years 2007-2013) are experiencing "cracked dashes". These cracks are appearing at various laces on the dash but the area of most concern is adjacent to the passenger side air bag. Gm refuses to take any responsibility for these potential hazardous conditions. Too, it is my understanding that these have been way under-reported to you. These is a lengthy facebook site dedicated to the numbers of owners facing these challenges. Please force gm to take responsibility for these poor design and implementation practices.
Cracked dash dash is cracked in the area of the passenger side airbag. This poses a safety concern in the event of an airbag deployment as fragments of broken dash would become projectiles within the cab of the vehicle.
The dash board has cracked at several places, including where the passenger side air bags it happened sometime in sept'2015, even though the Tahoe always is parked in shade (under the porte cochere) or in the garage. I have called gmac and the dealer several times I have been asked to pay out of pocket $800 for a manufacturing defect as this is a common complaint, on chevy dashboards.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated the dash is cracked above the passenger side air bag as well above the speedometer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that it was a common problem with this model vehicle and gave a quote to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue however the stated that they considered the failure as cosmetic. The vehicle failure mileage was 111,000. Kh.
All six side airbags on our 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe deployed while my wife was driving the vehicle with our two children in their rear car seats. There was no impact, bump, pot-hole or any other reason apparent to us why the airbags deployed. It was completely random. No one was injured and my wife maintained control of the vehicle to a safe stop, but she was stunned and disoriented. The damage to our vehicle is extensive. In addition to replacing six airbags, light fixtures, plastic molding, the roof panel and fabric/liner are all damaged. At this point, the dealer is not helping at all. We have contacted gm but they have not responded after 2 days. We believe this is not only a product liability issue that gm should repair, but also a major safety issue. We are all very fortunate that this did not result in a single or multi-vehicle accident, injuries related to the accident, or injuries related to the airbag deployment. We need help to ensure gm addresses this issue proactively, before someone is seriously injured or killed.

Dashboard is cracked in front of the driver. Hard plastic knife like structure are exposed to passengers. Also cracked on the passenger side airbag area. Chevrolet states it is cosmetic. This is potentially a hazard for the occupants.
All side airbags curtains deployed for no apparent reason. The dash board has a long crack nearly the entire length.
I came out to start my car one day and noticed that my dash board cracked in two places. It seems like it happened over night theres a huge crack splitting into another one above my steering wheel and another crack on the crease of the passenger side air bag which is causing it to lift and looks like it could set off the airbag unexpectedly. Very dangerous especially as I have children in the car on a daily basis.
Dashboard broke into passenger side airbag aperture while the car was sitting in my garage and had less than 75,000 miles. I went to Chevrolet service center in dallas, TX on east I-35 concerned about the possibility of additional injury if the airbag deployed since the dash is already broken and probably will further disintegrate if a collision causes airbag deployment.
The dashboard has cracked next to the passenger side airbag decreasing structural integrity of the dash and increasing the risk of plastic shards being ejected at the passenger during airbag deployment. This is a well documented defect affecting multiple models and years that share the same dashboard design. The manufacturer is aware of the issue and refuses to voluntarily address the problem.
I purchased a used Tahoe in August 2014 with 42k miles on it. At the time of purchase the dash above the passenger side airbag had a small crack, approx 1. 5 inches. Since then the crack spread to about 2 inches and I have noticed a crack on the driver side dash as well. The driver side crack started small but extends about 4 inches. Everyone I know that owns a Tahoe or silverado manufactured in 2009 - 2011 have the same issue. Why is this not being repaired at dealer cost? the cracked dash is a serious safety issue should the passenger side airbag deploy. The plastic then becomes projectiles.
The passenger side air bag has a big crack in the dash right above the air bag. This concerns me as I have 4 children and am scared that this may deploy while one of them is in the front seat. I see that there are many complaints on this same issue. I also have an issue with the asb light and stabilitrak lights where they are both on in the driver display dash. Every once in a while they will reset, but then in a day or so these error messages come back on. I also noticed that there are many complaints on this issue as well. Please gm do a recall on these issues!!.
On February 7th the driver side airbag spontaneously deployed as my family and I were driving home from the store. We contacted gm to find out if there were any recalls on our vehicle. We were instructed there were not and we should contact gm customer service. On February 11th they had us take our vehicle to a gm dealership where they conducted and investigation to determine why. Gm returned our vehicle to us on March 3rd stating the airbag deployment was caused by shorted wires in the wiring harness. Since our vehicle was returned to us we have had several more issues that were not present prior to the airbag deployment. The driver seat is stuck in one position, the rear windows will not work, the rear locks will not work, the fuel system is leaking gas, and the battery is dead, even having to be jump started when it was returned to us. General motors refuses to do anything to correct the problems, stating these problems are not a manufacturer defect. However, when the airbag blew, while we were driving down the road, there was significant smoke inside the dash, we believe the airbag burnt/shorted the wires after it deployed. Gm claim number 71-1435001291.

The dashboard is cracking in several places. One location is right above the instrument cluster. The other is around the passenger side airbag. This is a safety hazard as an airbag deployment could result in plastic breaking free and become flying projectiles within the cabin. Like many other vehicles with this same issue, the vehicle is well maintained, garage kept, and in good working order. The way that gm designed the dashboards and the materials used for the dashboards are the reason for this issue. Both gm and our local dealership have denied me any assistance in having the dashboard replaced.
Dashboard on a 2010 Tahoe cracked in 2014 near the left front corner of the passenger side airbag. If air bag were to deploy the dashboard could become shrapnel injuring occupants.
There are very large cracks on my dash board, the worst one being around the airbag plastic cover on the passenger side of the dash! you can see under the cover showing all of the components under the dash! the crack that is on the drivers side is above the steering column running from the defroster to the top by the speedometer displays, etc! I feel as if these cracks, specifically the one on the passenger side, is a huge safety hazard! without crashing, there is no way of telling if the passenger side airbag will deflate properly due to this! I feel that to find this out, it should be at no ones expense! I have filed a complaint & a claim with gm a few months ago only to be told by the dealership that gm contacted on my behalf that the responsibility is mine if I wanted this problem to be fixed! the dealership informed me that it would cost $850 to $1000 to have the dash replaced! the dealership also said that they are very aware of this problem in the Tahoes because they have replaced some dashes! gm is not taking any responsibility for their faulty equipment & refuse to issue a recall! there are thousands of other customers who I know for a fact that are also facing the same problems with their trucks & suvs! please do the right thing & issue a recall on these faulty & cheap made dash boards! thank you!.
While turning left (tahoe) with a protected green arrow at an x-shaped intersection, vehicle (kia sedan) at fault failed to yield and entered the intersection at speeds upwards of 40 mph from the left of the Tahoe. Front-impact collision occurred; due to the shape of the intersection and the velocity of the impact, Tahoe struck passenger side of kia sedan. Trajectory of impact caused directional changes in upwards of for both vehicles; the force of the primary accident described above also caused mentioned vehicles to collide with left rear of another vehicle (Honda sedan), causing near 360* rotation of the Honda sedan. Due to the force of impact, front & side airbags deployed on both the kia sedan and the Honda sedan, but failed to deploy on the Tahoe. Scene indicated that the kia sedan made no attempt to brake or decrease speed prior to collision; posted speed limit at intersection is 40 mph. Force was such that after the collision, Tahoe transmission was in drive, but remained at a complete stop. Damage sustained on the Tahoe include front-end body damage, engine damage (vehicle required towing and was inoperable), and frame damage, at a minimum. In addition, engine service lights as well as onstar vehicle diagnostic reports indicate that the airbag system, antilock braking system, and the stabilitrak stability control system also sustained damage and require attention. Multiple first-responders commented on the oddity that, given the damage sustained by the Tahoe and the velocity at impact, the airbags deployed on all vehicles but the Tahoe.
I own a 2011 Tahoe that has been kept in the garage and is in immaculate condition. I have 2 cracks on my dashboard; one on the upper left-hand side of my passenger side airbag and the other right behind my steering wheel. This crack is actually branching into two cracks now. I have some serious concerns regarding the safety of my vehicle in the event I am in a collision and my airbags need to be deployed. This cracked dash seems to be a common issue in Tahoes from at least 2007 and newer and I am concerned that gm has done nothing to recall this issue, especially considering how far back it appears to be affecting vehicles. My concern is the possibility of lack of airbag deployment and/or shards of sharp plastic flying through the air in the event of a collision causing injury to passengers or, in the event my airbags do deploy, a compromise to the effectiveness of their deployment due to puncture. It is apparent the dash is defective by the number of similar issues reported by customers. It is apparent that the dash is already compromised due to these cracks and gm needs to consider the safety issues posed with this defect.
Dash is cracked in 3 places as of today 9/30/14 and one place is next to the passenger side airbag.
I noticed a crack in my dashboard about 5 months ago. This crack is directly beside the passenger side airbag and is about 1-2 inches long. The opposite end of the crack (not connected to the airbag) has splintered off into more than just one crack. My concern is if the air bag is deployed, will this cause shattering and debris to fly into the face of my passengers and myself?.
