Chevrolet Tahoe owners have reported 9 problems related to software (under the electrical system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Tahoe based on all problems reported for the Tahoe.
The electrical software isn't functioning properly. The radio, onstar, the door/seat belt chimes don't work. None of the electrical works in the vehicle. I was driving and when I pressed on the brake and turning, the dome lights start to flicker making it difficult to see other cars at night. The back doors don't always lock when locking them.

Vehicle randomly loses steering control and flashes warning lights. At times, xm radio will not play. At one time, vehicle shut off and would not resart for approximately 10 seconds. Occasionally, the warning lights flash when making an adjustment like changing to bright lights or activating the turn signal. Left turn signal disengages cruise when activated. Gm has updated the software twice due to service over the above complaints. Fixes problem for short amount of time.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the liftgate, after being operated, would independently fall without warning. The vehicle was taken to klamath falls Honda (2810 washburn way, klamath falls or) where it was diagnosed that the actuator and software were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. While driving various speeds, the digital instrument panel would display incorrectly. Also, the air conditioner and remote start failed. The vehicle was taken to washington Chevrolet (1 raymond blvd, washington, PA 15301 (724) 222-2800), where a software malfunction was diagnosed and the software was updated, but the failure recurred. Several months later, while driving 25 mph, the contact inadvertently swerved to the left and struck a utility pole and fence. The air bags failed to deploy and there were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact sustained head injuries and bruising that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not assist. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 16v651000 (air bags, seat belts). The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

The approximate failure mileage was 27,800. Ak.
Our Tahoe accelerated on it's own 3 or 4 times at different speeds. In each situation putting on the brakes would not stop the vehicle. I was forced to enter high speed traffic and get into a center turn lane just missing an accident. I put the chevy Tahoe in neutral which allowed the engine to race to a point it could/would have blown. I was able to turn off the ignition but was in the middle of the road. My wife will not drive the car and will trade it for another brand. Each of the times this happened it was at different speeds & the speed control was not on. Turning off the chevy Tahoe allowed it to restart each time so we could get home. Gm like all car companies diagnostic software is not designed to signal the causes of these intermittent types of problems thus they can go on for years before getting fixed. This is the fourth gm vehicle over 20 years & all have had electrical issues and unless multiple people are killed gm keeps doing the same poor job.

Upon purchase of a new 2015 Tahoe I observed the possibility of a problem with the forward collision alert system (fca). I reported this to the service manager at Chevrolet. On 9 April 2015 the service manager, assistant service manager, master technician, and I took the vehicle for a test drive. While driving the vehicle at moderate highway speeds I demonstrated the various phases and operation of vehicle detection. The fca has plenty of sensitivity and detects vehicles in excess of the specified distance in the owner¿s manual which is not an issue. At a moderate closing rate between vehicles the instrument cluster icon changes from green to amber-orange which appears nominal. However, the red alarm heads-up windshield display, rapid high-pitched beeps and red icon are never activated until a closing distance about ~3 feet before a collision. There is virtually zero reaction time for a driver to brake the vehicle at less than one car length before going to red. In addition, the system is supposed to disengage the adaptive cruise control (acc). Considering time, rate, and distance this is ineffective as the mass and kinetic energy also needs to fully disengage before a potential collision. Because of the danger of creating a traffic incident the vehicle was not tested to the level of a full collision. I was informed by the service manager that there are no service bulletins, adjustments, or software patches that may correct this deficiency by the dealer. Gm stated that the system works as designed and delivered. The gm forward collision alarm (fca) delivered product appears to have a design deficiency and is an operational safety hazard waiting to happen. If the fca does not function properly then why introduce it to a consumer regardless of gm owner manual warnings about trusting alert systems.
After only one month of purchase auto start feature does not work unless you were 3 feet away. The vehicle once sat over night would make a really loud clattering sound when you would turn on the engine. I took the car into the dealer and told them about the problems the dealer indicated that they had to reprogram the software in the Tahoe to reprogram auto start. The next morning I was called and informed that they were unable to reproduce the clattering sound and that nothing wrong was detected with the vehicle so that it was ready for pick up. Everything was o. K. For about a couple of months. Auto start wasn't working again. At my third service visit to the dealer I noticed the tires were starting to get wasted towards the inside. The vehicle only had about 5,000 miles on it at the time. When the dealer was informed he indicated that the tires needed to be rotated. After about three tire rotations I noticed the tires getting warn out pretty badly on the inside. He indicated that the problem could be that it needs a front end allingnment only after the vehicle having less than 12,000 miles. The front end alignment was done on the vehicle. To this day that the tires are wasted more on the insides than the outsides. This last month we have had a problem again with the loud clattering sound in the engine when we start the vehicle. It has gotten alot worse I took it into the dealer and they said that they were aware of the problem and that it appears to be oil build up in the air compressor that when it sits for more thatn 3 hours it apparently makes this loud sound when you start the engine. He indicated that chevy is looking into the problem and to this day has not done anything about the problem. I was furious when they refused to do anything about a problem that chevy well knows is a manufacturer defect.

4 wheel drive light came on and would not engage. The dealer told the consumer it was a software problem. The consumer thought the problem was resolved until a couple of weeks later when he attempted to place the vehicle in reverse and it did not engage. After trying a second time if engaged and the 4-wheel drive light illuminated again and the vehicle failed to go into 4-wheel drive. The consumer was finally told that the manufacturer did not have a fix for the malfunction of the 4-wheel drive. The vehicle had other problems such as a rattling noise coming from the glove compartment, the remote keyless entry was inoperative, there was a thumping sound coming from the drivers side when the consumer made a turn, the emblem fell off the back of the truck, the seat mechanism did not work and there was in the drivers side running board.
