2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. Consumer states after driving on the highway for 15 minutes or so the tire low pressure indicator light on the instrument panel came on
the consumer stated before he took the vehicle to the dealer, the air was checked several times, with no indication of a problem. The consumer then took the vehicle to the dealer, where they replaced the sensor in the right rear tire. However, the problem continued. The consumer went to another dealer, where they ran a test and found no problem. After filing a complaint, the consumer went back to the second dealer where they found a lock problem. They replaced and reprogrammed the rcdlr. The consumer stated the problem is ongoing. Also, the doors locked on their own on a number of occasions.

Tire pressure monitoring system. Sensor breaks when checking air in tires.
As I was driving down interstate 85 in my hometown of thomasville north carolina in my 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe which had exactly 1,320 miles on it, on 12/13/10 at approximately 1:00 pm, my passenger side front tire blew out. I was traveling at roughly 60-65 mph and the speed limit was 70 mph. I was cruising along, paying attention to the road as I always do being mindful of other drivers and my surroundings when I heard a loud pop or bang which I would consider similar to a rifle or shotgun blast. Immediately after hearing this loud noise, I slowed my speed trying to find out what caused the loud noise. About that time my tire pressure monitoring system on the instrument panel came on and began to chime and light up signaling that my right front tire pressure was low. I slowed down even more and began to feel the vehicle pull and drag and felt the front right of the vehicle beginning to drop. I made it safely to the side of the road on an off ramp. I got out to inspect what had happened and what I saw was a tire that was completely deflated and was smoking. I then got back in the vehicle and called onstar and notified them what had happened and they then called for roadside assistance to come and change my tire which they did in a timely fashion.

I am the original owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe with all original equipment. The vehicle standard equipment includes a tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). The problem I have is that all five (spare tire) tire valve stem caps have seized on the valve stem which prevents adding air to the tires. The problem is due to corrosion between the contacting surfaces only of the valve stem and valve stem cap. The corrosion is due to the reaction between the dissimilar metals of the valve stem cap and valve stem. This can cause a safety issue if you have low tire pressure and cannot add air to the tire. Not to mention that the repair is significant as the tpms sensor must be replaced. The valve stem and valve stem cap are the original parts that came on the new car. I took my car to the Chevrolet dealer and they were not able to remove the valve stem caps without breaking the valve stems. I a person needs to add air to the tire they will likely end up breaking the valve stem.
I am writing to report the second failure of a valve stem from ntb. The tire is a michelin tire installed on a 2002 chevy Tahoe. All tires are properly inflated and are maintained at the proper level. The first occurrence was approx. 2 years ago and the tire lost pressure, delaminated and blew out. The current tire lost pressure but is intact. Upon returning home my wife attempted to reinflate the tire to determine where the air is leaking from. It was determined that the air was leaking from the valve stem. Both tires and valve stems were purchased from ntb.

In the period of 4 weeks I experienced two high speed tire failures while traveling on interstate 95 in virginia. In each case I was barely able to maintain vehicle control and pull off the road. In each case the tires were completely destroyed and off the rim. After the second case I chose to have all four tire replaced and prior to actual removal I checked the tire stem on one of the 2 remaining (not new tires) and discovered the valve stem had a split. The same was discovered on the other tire still on the vehicle. I also checked the valve stem on the latest tire that had gobe flat and it to had a crack. It is clear that at least 3 and most likely four of the valve stems failed causing the complete destruction of two relatively new tires (less than 17 k miles) and almost resulting in two high speed interstate vehicle accidents.

The service tire monitor warning displayed frequently and reportsed that a tire pressure reading was unavailable. This happened since day 1. Each time the vehicle has been brought in for service, the problem has been reported, and an attempt to correct has been performed. Two years later, after at least 5 attempts to correct the problem, it still existed. Thiswas a major annoyance as each time the monitor waring displayed it caused you to inspect the tires , and check pressures to ensure proper inflation, especially since tires were made by firestone.
