My husband was driving on the interstate at about 65-70 mph. All of a sudden it dropped down to 40 and we immediately pulled over and turned off the ignition. The needle was still reading 40. We were three hours from home and had no choice but to continue driving. Once we got within an hour from our house it started working correctly. Three days ago I was driving by myself and it happened again. The needle is stuck on 60 mph and my car is parked in the driveway. Please address this issue ASAP I don't think I should be driving around in a vehicle that isn't operating correctly just because I didn't choose to buy an escalade, tahoe, or suburban. Vehicles that have the same problem and were issued a recall.
I own a 2005 Trailblazer. Its a great vehicle but problem's of great concern have risen. I would like to petition to have Chevrolet to display a campaign for the recall and correction of a fuel gage problem which myself and many, many Trailblazer owners are having. It involves the fuel gage not functioning properly displaying empty and or a variety of levels of the fuel tank. The amount of complaints which I have found on the internet of Trailblazer owners should warrant an action from Chevrolet to repair the problem with no costs to the owners of these vehicles. Please investigate and you will see the situation. I hope an action to correct is the responsibility of Chevrolet because it is definitely an design issue. Why do the owners have to pay something that is not functioning properly and definitely an issue from the manufacturer. The other issue is very serious. The doors lock automatically when the vehicle is not in drive or the engine is running. Case in point, my wife stopped at the service station to fill up with fuel, left the keys in the ignition close the door and started to fuel up. Part way in the filling as she stood there outside of the vehicle, her purse inside on the seat and the doors locked on their own. She then had to barrow someone's cell phone to call on-star to unlock the doors. I did not think much on it and thought she had did something to trigger the action. Well one day I was in the sitting truck and waiting for my wife. I have the key in the ignition, the engine not running and then the doors locked by themselves. I did nothing to trigger this. Now I believe there is something very wrong. This locking by themselves will be very serious if a mother has an child or infant inside the vehicle and he or she is possibly getting fuel or something. What if this happened and the child or infant started choking or convulsions or a very hot day and help is many minutes away. Does Chevrolet not care?.
I parked the 2005 Trailblazer in the garage after a short trip to pick up a neighbors child. Two hours later when I went to start my car to take the child home, my key would not turn. Steering wheel was not locked ( it could be turned and turn the wheels) trans was locked. I read on online forums that others have had issues like this, one guy said that he was able to pull back on his shifter and turn the key at the same time. This did not work for me as the trans shifter was locked. Result, tow, and replace switch.
I purchased a 2005 chevy Trailblazer on 4/15/05 shortly there after I was having problems with a whining sound. I took it to a dealer and I was told that it was the ignition pulley. I contacted the corporate office of Chevrolet to inquire about assistance with payment considering I was about 3, 000 miles over the warranty. After several calls Chevrolet absorbed this cost. Then in sept. Of 2005, my husband totaled his car and I purchased a 2005 Trailblazer for him. Again this car began making similar noises and my husband was driving home with our 2 year old son and the car began smoking. My husband immediately pulled off the road and contact roadservice. Once we took it to a mechanic he said that it was the ignition pulley which caused the transmission to die. We took it to a Chevrolet dealership and they said that was the transmission. I contacted the corporate office once again and this time they would not offer any financial assistance. It seems that the dealership said that it was the result of an oil change that did not occur at the 3000. They, the dealership based this off of a sticker that was in the window of the car. When I went to look at the car they was no oil sticker in the window. Despite that, I had contacted the chevy office about the same whining noise that I heard in my car (the ignition pulley) that my husband was experiencing in his car. This is still not resolved. We were told to fix this car it would cost $10,000. 00, yes, for a new transmission. We have since towed to home in order to avoid storage fees. Here sits a 2005 chevy Trailblazer with approx. 50,000. 00 and a new transmission is needed. We do not have the money to fix this and also pay the car note on it as well. As a read reports, this is a similar problem with many many Trailblazers. There needs to be a recall on this vehicle for faulty transmissions!!!!!.
I have a 2005 chevy Trailblazer that when driving at times the lights go bright and them dim when accelerating also makes a noise from the engine, also after sitting for the weekend would have to jump start and keys would stay locked in ignition I have searched the web for anyone having similar problems and I am glad to say that I am not imagining this, when we took to dealer they could not find anything wrong. Please investigate this problem I will add link to web site of forum where other people are having the same problem with this vehicle. This is a safety related issue due to driving @ night when the lights go dim is dangerous, please help. . Read more...
2 gauges in ipc have malfunctioned: the speedometer and the fuel gauge. The speedometer needle begins to "stick" at 60 mph mark and does not reset back to zero after turning the ignition off. In fact, while on the freeway, the speedometer will often go past 120 mph mark. The fuel gauge needle sticks at the "empty" mark. Common sense dictates that driving a vehicle without any clue as to how fast or how much fuel you have is hazardous. My research has determined that gm has recalled the ipc for other 2003, 2004 & 2005 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC models but not the 2005 chevy Trailblazer.
