Eight problems related to wiring have been reported for the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2014

The wiring connecting the blower motor to the resistor under the glove box has melted the connection between the two resulting in smoke and toxic fumes from burning wires while vehicle was in operation with a/c operating on high. Shutting the vehicle off stopped any further damage, I have googled this issue and appears as though its a known problem without gm acknowledging the issue and doing any thing to remedy the issue, according to complaints filed with carcomplaints. Com.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2010

As you can see from below the complaint, seems I got a call from nikki at gm or chevy and they stated I need to bring vehicle in, pay for the diagnostic and then maybe they can decide on what to do, I believe this issue has gone on for 5 years now and they should be checking to see what the issue is. . . Could be faulty wiring, which can lead to a fire, safety issue, could be a false warning or worse a real warning, as you can see in the link I enclosed to them, many people paying big dollars to not have this issue resolved, how long does this go on, I am hoping you guys can step in for us and hopefully light a fire and get gm and chevy to finally look into this matter. . 3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2010

Fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, and speedometer completely stopped working. I also had to replace the ac/heater system because of the wiring harness. I had to fix things twice for a cost of over $600 in 8 months! GMC really needs to recall these things because so many vehicles have had problems. Every complaint on here is the same! recall it now! it is not our fault. . . It's yours so fix it!.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I currently own a 2005 chevy Trailblazer. Over the past year I have a variety electrical problems with my blazer. In the January of 2010 I had to replaced by ac / heater as it simply went out. When the vehicle was fixed a certified mechanic he showed us the wiring harness that had simply malfunctioned and melted all of the wires together. Now in the past three months my gas gauge has stopped working, indicating that it is low on fuel or empty and my speedometer is no longer functioning. I am very worried about the electrical problems and the risk of a potential hazards to myself and my family.

5 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2009

A/c resistor and wiring harness melted.

6 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2008

While driving above 30mph, if take foot off accelerator, headlights will dim to almost no light as will the dash lights, on off, on off, when press on the accelerator, lights will go on normally with same brightness. Dome light button to left of steering wheel will work once every 50 tries, lights on left side of radio do not work, cd player will not take cds. I am unable to drive my vehicle at night, it has been to a certified Chevrolet dealership twice now, they have stated that everything is running correctly and that they cannot find anything wrong with the vehicle. The speedometer will read 0 (no matter how fast I'm going) which is apparently a known problem with chevy vehicles, but they are not willing to fix it in the Trailblazer.

7 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2007

Window switch panel on drivers door caught fire overnight while parked in garage. No problems before this event. Fuse blew stopping the electric current and the fire burnt out on its own. I discovered the damage in the morning as I was getting in the vehicle to drive to work.

8 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the electrical system failed at least three times in the front passenger seat. Repairs were made under warranty; however, the last failure was the contact's liability. On a separate occasion, she heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that there was a pinched wire issue with that particular year, make, and model vehicle that could affect other electrical components. The dealer made repairs, but the failure recurred within 48 hours. The dealer found wiring in a different area that failed and subsequently caused the failure of the front passenger seat. In addition, the exterior lights flickered intermittently, but the mechanic stated that the wiring would not cause that particular failure. The VIN was provided, but was not accepted by the system. The current and failure mileages were less than 43,000.
