Nhtsa. Gov/vehic I was going down the interstate and the stabilitrak, traction control, check engine lights all came on. Engine reduced power light came on I lost all power of the vehicle, I was in heavy traffic and forced off of the road because my engine died. I went from doing 70 mph down to 10 mph and came very close to getting rear ended. This would have caused a chain reaction rear end crash with multiple vehicles. When I got to the shoulder of the road I wasn't able to get my vehicle started. I waited about 10 minutes tried it again. It turned over with yellow engine light remaining on. This has happened on multiple occasions. 1 have seen where this is a problem in this year model of this vehicle and wondering why it hasn't been recalled yet by the manufacturer before someone loses there life. This is my only vehicle and I feel that it is unsafe to drive. I have a one year old granddaughter and her safety is at risk. Please help fix this problem as we need a car to drive.

Dash is throwing different codes such as service and check traction control, stabilitrack, air bag, and at times while driving it will say reduced engine power and my foot would be on gas not wanting to barely move. One time I almost got hit. Other several times I was able to pull over and we would have to disconnect battery wait a little and car would be ok again. I have been experiencing problems with this car that it makes me not want to drive it and thank god we have another car. I am also experiencing catalytic converter issues for the 4th time. Car feels at times like it is bogging when on gas peddle as if something had a clog in it and starts pulsating. Check engine light is also on.

While driving the vehicle the engine will cut out. The truck will stutter and the check engine light will go on. A message will appear on the display: service stabilitrack, traction control turned off. A secondary message will display as reducing engine power and then the truck will stall. This has happened on several occasions while in traffic or driving down the highway in normal driving conditions. It has been occurring more frequently. Once the vehicle sits for 20 to 30 minutes it will usually start back up. The check engine light remains on. Once the vehicle is parked overnight the check engine light usually goes off. I have seen that this is a common complaint with this vehicle. I fear for the safety of myself and my family as this can happen at any time. We have almost been rear ended by a tractor trailer doing 65 mph on the highway. Luckily I was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road where it had to be towed. It was looked at by a service station and they were unable to diagnose any problem. The most recent occurrence was 1/20/21 while driving on city streets.

The Traverse randomly loses power and stalls while driving. The check engine light illuminates and a message stating vehicle reducing power appears on the display. The engine then cuts out. This has happened several time recently while in traffic as well as on the highway. It is very dangerous especially when on the highway doing 65 mph. It has been happening frequently with the latest occurrence 01/20/2021. Once the truck sits for approximately 20 to 30 minutes the vehicle will start and run. Sometimes the issue will happen again while driving, sometimes it will not. Typically once the vehicle sits overnight the engine light will go off by itself. I fear for the safety of my family while driving the vehicle as we have almost been involved in a couple accidents due to this issue.

Check engine light came on. Diagnostics stated catalytic converter was the issue and needed to be replaced. . Vehicle with less than 15k miles and owned for about 14 months.

We purchased our 2012 chevy Traverse brand new in April of 2013. I had the extended pip warranty 6 years, 60,000 miles. The mileage is 65,674. On 9/12/2020 while driving rural state road at 55mph the engine stalled losing power steering and brakes. We safely pulled to the side. The engine started back up with the check engine light on and an obvious knock. Towed the Traverse to the dealership for service Monday when they opened. Drivers village dealership cicero NY checked vehicle and confirmed �very bad knocking when vehicle is running, noise changes with rpms. Scanned and found p0016 crank cam. � diagnostic repair fee of $250 determined the #1 bank rod broken- need engine replacement. They also reported oil level full and clean with 57% life remaining. The oil has always been changed at the 3,000. I was presented with two quotes to install a gm new engine or a rebuilt engine. Both options are over $8,500 to repair.

A few months ago my check engine light came on. I had my mechanic test it and it came back for timing chain. He said he knew right away when he saw the code because he's seen a lot of Traverse's with timing chain problems. I had less than 90,000 miles on my car! I called gm but they said there is no recall for my vehicle. Last month I found out my cousin just had her timing chain replaced on her Traverse just before 100,000 miles. There are also a ton of forum posts about Traverse timing chain issues. It's absurd such a crucial part is fault in so many of these cars. A recall needs to be issued.

Check engine light came on at 56k miles. Vehicle having misfire while driving, rough idle while sitting and sluggish at times. Misfire and rough idle not happening all the time. Had generic code check done before I could get into dealership to see what I was looking at. . . Multiple codes with running lean and 02 sensor. Was able to get into dealer after the weekend and they did diagnostic. Found power steering gear inlet hose leaking onto O2 sensor (b1 s1) causing the whole problem. Not covered under powertrain warranty. I am unable to afford the dealership repair cost at this time and have been seeing where older models have had issues with power steering pump failure and more recent models having leaks due to hoses being too close to other hoses. So I am concerned with replacing the hose and sensor and having the same issue occur again.

While driving the car down the highway the check engine light came on. When pulling to the side if the road the car just shut of and went dead. Tried restarting the car it wouldn't start. Had it towed to the shop and I now have a $8,900 bill because the engine seized up due to the timing chain. So I now have a big blue permanent yard fixture because who can afford to fix this car in the pandemic. I've have researched this and there has been alot of people with this issue. Why has there not been a recall to fix this known issue? this is very dangerous. Why is chevy not fixing this problem with these vehicles??.

The vehicle at 125,000 the check engine light turned on and there is a problem with the timing chain stretching. It is the crank shaft/cam shaft. It is over a $2,000. 00 repair and the mechanic said this is a common problem with chevy Traverse's.

While driving, my check engine light came on. Also traction light came on, loss of power came on, and stability traction turned off. My speed reduced from 40 to 25. I shut the car off and now only the check engine light is on.

The timing chain needs to be replaced and is a known problem with Chevrolet even though they have not done a recall. Eats oil, ticks and my check engine light is on. My mechanic looked at it and said it was the timing chain. I don't have 3k to fix my car.

After making a right turn while driving in traffic in a school zone traction control went off then on check engine light went on service stabilitrak flashed engine power is reduced flashed had to pull over and restart car, engine light remained on ecm was replaced less than 3 yrs ago for the same thing at ed morse sawgrass in sunrise, FL.

My 2014 chevy Traverse has been having this issue for months now. I will be driving and my service stabilitrak, traction control off, check engine light will light up, and engine power reduced will pop up. I can not go over 20 mph. At times the engine will become very stally, jerky, my steering wheel and brakes will be very hard to use. These are very random and non patterned I will have to safely pull over rather it be on a back road or a highway wherever it happens turn the engine off for 5-20 minutes and it will eventually clear everything but the check engine light; which will clear within that day or the next until the next time it happens. It has also cause my key to lock up in the ignition. This is very unsafe and scary. This is my family car and will eventually cause an accident and hurt myself, my kids, or someone else. If you google the issue there are tons of forums, websites, blogs that have the same issue with this car. I have spent numerous hours investigating the issue, lots of money replacing parts as recommended or by the check engine light and it continues to do this. Gm is going to have a lawsuit on their hands when someone gets seriously hurt over this issue because they are not doing anything about it.

When driving car forward on roads and when backing up the car/engine stutters. When in reverse the car has cut off, when driving forward the engine rattles with a �tin like� sound. When the car is in park and idling, it will cut off at times. Upon restarting the check engine light will come on. The check engine light will go off and come on intermittently. When I took the car in to determine what was going on, the check engine light had gone off and the dealership was not able to determine the problem initially and had to keep the car overnight to determine the diagnosis that the timing chain kit needed to be replaced. I was told that this repair would no longer fall under the gm warranty. Upon searching online and having my car looked at by an independent repair shop, I have found that this has been a recurring problem with the Chevrolet Traverse and gm has not issued a recall.

1st the a/c would flash and quit working, 2nd the check engine light came on, 3rd the temperature gauge quit work, 4th the engine fan keeps running after taking the key out. 5th sometime the radio controls will not work. And and the outside mirrors will quit working both in motion and not. I took into the dealership and replaced the ecm connector and it immediately did the same thing.

Car was powering down at highway speeds and check engine light came on. Now needs timing chains replaced. Also started having issues with the steering not working and the steering rack is bad and needs replaces. Suspension is no good and all has to be redone. Vehicle only has 70,000 miles on it for being a 2011.

The check engine light was going on and off for several weeks. Sometimes the vehicle seemed to lose some power while driving. Took to mechanic to have it diagnosed. Code p0008 appears to be worn timing chaining. I have spoken to two independent mechanics as well as a chevy dealership - all have told me that the timing chain should last the life of the vehicle. A google search informed me that this appears to be a common issue with the chevy Traverse. In fact, early models received an extended warranty for this issue. This warranty needs to be extended to other years as well.

While accelerating to merge back onto the highway from the exit the SUV stopped accelerating. The check engine light came on and it just shut off. It was coasted to the shoulder and tried restarting it but nothing happened. Checked the oil dipstick and it was reading empty. Two quarts of oil was added and it still wouldn't start. The SUV had been driven about 4k miles since purchased with no oil change but at no point did the oil light come on to say it was low. It was towed to rincon chevy where they said it was catastrophic internal engine failure and engine to have no compression. Contacted the dealership it was purchased from, waldorf Honda, and they continued to say the oil not being changed at 3k miles for the problem. They continued to ignore the fact that I called them the day after purchase that I noticed a hesitation while driving. Told them a second time in person about it and was told to drive it until something happens. I have read other instances about these same types of problems. This is a major safety issue for anyone as for riding in this SUV was a man, an eight month pregnant woman, and a three year old child that was traveling on a highway where speed limit was 70 mph. In the process of taking it back to the dealership where purchased. They are still putting on that it's my fault and are surprised that the warranty company is offering to pay about 30% of the cost to replace the motor. Saying that replacing the motor is the only option and also the only way to figure out the hesitation issue, a possible transmission problem.

Check engine light came on had the codes checked and I had the engine taken apart twice because the timing chain had jumped causing it to run rough and light came back had to do again and it was fine for a few months but mechanic said the engine is the same as the enclave and acadia which both have had recalls on this issue. This happened the first time while car was in motion.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine timing chain needed to be replaced. The timing chain was replaced but approximately 30,000 miles later the failure had reoccurred. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer patriot Chevrolet located at 40 auto park blvd, limerick PA, who diagnosed that the failure was due to a faulty timing chain. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while driving at various speeds with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on three separate occasions and diagnosed with a faulty evaporative emissions control unit. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred and persisted after each repair. The contact then called the manufacturer who informed her to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to bob johnson 390 Chevrolet inc. (2780 lakeville rd, avon, NY 144140) where similar repairs were performed on the vehicle however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to hoselton Chevrolet (909 fairport rd, east rochester, NY 14445) where the check engine warning light was reset however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

On a normal sunny afternoon after about driving for 20 or so miles, we were approaching a red light in a line of traffic at a busy intersection, the vehicle appeared to start slightly jerking as I was coming to a stop. Once stopped the stop/start function operated. Upon releasing the brake to accelerate thru the intersection the vehicle started jerking and lurching uncontrollably then shut down completely, the instrument panel went dark. I could not get the car out of the line of heavy traffic, I had to put it in park right in the middle of the road and try the start button. Thankfully the vehicle started, the check engine light came on and stayed on but the vehicle appeared to be running normal again and we were able to proceed. This was very upsetting and dangerous as it occurred in heavy traffic at an intersection. I took it back to the dealership the next day (I bought this vehicle used 2 weeks prior, this was only my 2nd time driving it and I had only put 70 miles on it in the 2 weeks I had it). The current mileage is approx. 25,600. The hard code the dealer retrieved noted a camshaft sensor issue. The sensor was notreplaced, I was told that gm is aware of this problem and would be issuing a recall but they are not sure when. They said it was a computer program issue. I am very concerned for our safety while operating this vehicle as they said the issue may or may not happen again. Onstar sent me an email notifying me that my 2018 chev Traverse had and engine/transmission issue and to take it to the dealer ASAP . Thank you onstar, I am very aware of the issue and it was already at the dealer but I appreciate that you also recognize that there was a problem. Hoping gm does something very soon, this is a $50,000 vehicle with only 25k miles on it and it is not safe to operate under these conditions.

In early April 2019, approximately the first week of April, I was driving the Traverse on a hill and stopped at a stop light. When the light turned green, I attempted to step on the gas and pull forward, but the car rolled backwards. I looked down to see if I was in reverse, but the car was in drive. This specific incident occurred a total of two times. On April 23, 2019 around 9:40 am I was driving and my car stalled multiple times during this trip. I was not sure if the car was going to make it to my final destination. The check engine light illuminated. On April 24, I received a call from the dealership. The dealership informed me that the car showed 4 �codes�. P0011 �a� camshaft position � timing over-advanced or system performance bank 1 p0014 �b� camshaft position � timing over-advanced or system performance bank 1 p0021 �a� camshaft position � timing over-advanced or system performance bank 2 p0024 �b� camshaft position � timing over-advanced or system performance bank 2 these codes represented a software problem related to the engine. Tim informed me that according to the gm bulletin (pip5568e or document id# 5251270), the recommendation is to delete the codes and that there is not a software solution to the problem at this time. The dealership informed me that because of the severity of the symptoms I was experiencing related to the codes he did not feel comfortable with the recommendation from the gm bulletin and he would be escalating the issue to the gm district manager. The ultimate result is that they want to delete the codes and have me come pick up the car as there is no solution to the issue at this time.

I was driving my Traverse on an on ramp to the highway when the check engine light came on. The dash said service stabilitrac, engine power reduced. . . Just as I was about to merge into traffic. I lost acceleration and had to take the shoulder of the highway to avoid getting run over by a semi that was at highway speed! I can't believe there isn't a recall or something for this extremely dangerous issue!!.

My vehicle has the check engine light on and is throwing dtc code p0008 which is caused by premature wear of the timing chain(s). This seems to be a well known issue and in fact the same engine has a "special warranty" on the 2009 Traverse and several other lambda platform vehicles prior to 2010. This is the same engine. The special warranty currently in place on the older models is 11340-c. This condition could lead to a catastrophic failure of the engine and strand the vehicle - possibly in a dangerous place without the ability to move it.

Vehicle turned off during operation. Vehicle was traveling at 45 mph on a local highway and turned off. Coasted the vehicle into an empty parking lot where parking gear was applied and vehicle was restarted. Check engine light was now present. Vehicle was dropped off at dealership where it was purchased. Was informed it was a software anomaly and is currently being investigated. No repair, software was reset and vehicle was released.

While driving 75 on a freeway the service stabilitrak, service traction control, and check engine lights all came on. The engine power was reduced and I couldn't go over 40mph all at once. The vehicle was limped off the freeway without any incident with another vehicle, thank god and brought to a mechanic. He said that he has seen hundreds of the same issue over the past few years on the same vehicle and other Chevrolet vehicles. He told me that this will happen to diagnose a more general issue that could be wrong with the vehicle and that it could be a number of things that need to be tested without replacing hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars worth of parts. It could be even be one of a variety of sensors on the vehicle. My complaint is that with such a high tech computer on the vehicle, how is it that there is not a specific problem code or light to tell you or a mechanic what is actually wrong with the vehicle. Secondly that a general code coming up on a car should not be powering the engine down so drastically. That could have been very dangerous if there was someone right behind me. This is a hazard worth a recall before someone is injured or killed because of it.

Car began running extremely rough with lack of power. Check engine light came on and obd showed codes of p0016 and p0017. Vehicle had a bad timing chain which was replaced at a cost of $3200. Vehicle shows 66409 miles on the odometer.

While driving with no warning the check engine light comes in, the dash flashes service stabiltrak, traction control off and engine power reduced. The vehicle slows down to 25 mph and if you try to speed up it shutters and bucks. I have to pull over and return it off and then when turning it back on the check engine light stays on for about a day but other warning lights are gone. This has happened three times and I have almost been hit every time, because the vehicle just slows itself down to 25 mph with no warning while you are driving.

Timing chain as well as catalytic converter completely destroyed after the timing chain was installed by a Chevrolet dealership less than 1 year go. Check engine light came on vehicle went into safety mode and now will not start. Chevrolet will not help cover the cost of repairs since it is out of warranty. The car only has 48000 miles.

While at a traffic light, the engine auto stop engaged as usual. However, upon releasing the brake to proceed through the intersection, the vehicle restarted but would not run properly. The vehicle would lurch/jerk forward then lose power over and over again. It felt like we would get whiplashed from the movement of the vehicle. The engine light came on. We were able to make it off of the road into a parking lot in order to call the dealership for advice. They advised to turn the vehicle off and restart it in order to reset the systems. While this restored the ability to drive the vehicle, the check engine light has remained on and the vehicle will be going into the dealership in 3 days (the earliest available appointment) to be evaluated.

Vehicle stalls while driving at highway speeds. Check engine light comes on and steering wheel locks and sometimes key gets stuck in the ignition. Dealership says there's nothing wrong with the car and replaced the battery. While driving home from dealership my vehicle stalled again.

We purchased our 2016 chevy Traverse new and now have approx. 38k miles on it. After the 1st year, we began experiencing power loss issues and ended up having fuel injectors replaced in mid-2017. Since then, we've been experiencing the same issue that has already been reported to the NHTSA by other owners. Periodically, our "service stabilitrak" will appear on the dash and the "traction control off" will appear, along with the "check engine light". When this happens, the vehicle runs extremely rough and violently shakes back and forth. I've had the vehicle into autonation chevy in both gilbert, az and mesa, az for a total of 5 times since mid-2017 for this issue. I just picked it up a few days ago after being in the shop for over 2 weeks. Unfortunately, no repairs were made as no codes were found/stored in the computer and the mechanic was unable to replicate the issue during the 2 week period. This is clearly a safety issue and I'm a bit surprised no resolution has been made given the complaints regarding this issue just in 2018. This has occurred while driving, while idling and while waiting to turn in a busy intersection and almost led to an accident. I will be taking the vehicle back to autonation once again today. Gm/chevy please review and offer guidance as to what's going on before fatalities occur. Thank you.
