Check Engine Light On Problems of Chevrolet Traverse - part 2

The check engine light has been on for two years in my Traverse and my local mechanic doesn't know why. For about the same amount of time, when filling the tank we have to turn all electronics off and then after the fill we have to pump the gas pedal and coax it into starting. Again, local mechanic doesn't know what to do that won't cost a fortune, so advised to continue driving if what we do works. For the last month or so the stabilitrak warning light has come on periodically and then the reduced engine power light also comes on. This happens when it is really cold. At first nothing else happened, but the last three times we did lose power. I went down to 40mph while driving on the interstate and then at 21 below last night we couldn't go over 10-15 mph. After turning the car off for a while it normally re-sets which it did last night and we finally made it home. This engine power reduction and stabilitrak issue happens while driving. The check engine light is always on when the car is on.

The manufacturer was contacted. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in the warranted repair for the timing chain replacement and the manufacturer also advised that the timing chain replacement ended in two thousand seventeen. The manufacturer provided the contact case number 9027334. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was 49,300. Li.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated periodically when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not reared. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,500.

I was driving on a flat road in the middle of rush hour traffic. The traction control light came on, shortly after the check engine light came on, and steering wheel tightened. I pulled over, shut the car off, waited a few minutes and then restarted. No lights. When I brake car, seems to take longer and then jerks to engage brakes. Shop ran codes and nothing came back.

Worn timing chains; timing chains and guides require replacement of old chains which were still used on the Traverse built in April 2010. Chevrolet has many documented blogs of these timing chains being bad but still used them in their builds.

While driving to work check engine light came on. Took to chevey dealer in somerset ky to have code pulled. Was told the timing chain needed replaced. Was told this was not a common problem but after researching found out it is very common for this vehicle. Other issues with this vehicle has also been air going out and airbag problems. Very frustrating to have to repair so much on a vehicle that doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet.

Ac won't come on or just shuts off while driving, sometimes the service airbag warning comes on, sometimes it sets a check engine light code p0119, if the recirculate button is not on then it lights up and ac compressor shuts off, pull over out of traffic and shut the car off and let everything come to a complete stop and restart the car, sometimes every thing clears up but sometimes it takes several restarts to get car to function properly. Happens driving on road or stationary. Checked battery but seems to be ok, checked fuse box and the entire fuse box is loose, the hold down screws in the fuse box appear to be stripped and will not tighten, shimmed the box to the frame to prevent it from shaking around in the engine compartment. Car was purchased from lakeside Chevrolet in rockwall, TX as a certified used car, it has been back to the dealer for the service airbag issue but they did not resolve the problem. Has been happening every since we purchased the vehicle. Keep looking for recalls but nothing yet. There are considerable complaints about this problem or similar problems. The problem with carrying this vehicle back to dealer is that they don't seem to know how to fix it. General motors should recall this vehicle and repair it because it is obviously factory defective.

While driving car on a state highway, it began to jerk, lose power and check engine light came on. Next day taken in to dealer, informed gm is aware of the problem that also affects several other gm cars and is unable to fix.

Vehicle will suddenly decelerate, with check engine light coming on and notifications that traction control is off, and stabilitrak is off. This has happened twice once while driving (straight on 25mph road) once-most recent- while idling at a stop light. After first time, had vehicle serviced and had a purge valve replaced per computer error code. Vehicle is awaiting service again. To be able to drive, shut off is required (two times) but engine light stays on. Vehicle has less than 36,000 miles. Weather was fair both days-overcast, but roads were dry. Vehicle has been subject to a very wet summer, previously a winter with a lot of salt and anti-skid treatments. Vehicle does not travel much other than to my child's school and basic errands. Only in my possession 2 years as of July.

Vehicle randomly indicates service traction control, engine powering down, service stabilitrack. Vehicle then shuts down. It has happened several times without any warning. The check engine light will come on and then it will go back off.

Without warning, I get an alert on my information panel that stabilitrak is off and traction control needs servicing. At the same time, the vehicle downshifts hard and rapidly decelerates. Several months ago, the check engine light started coming on at random times resulting in an emission error code. The catalytic converter was replaced. A month later, same error code. This current problem happens frequently at various speeds while in motion only.

There were more than a few occasions were I am driving and my car will instantly slow down and the check engine light comes on and something saying traction control. I don't know exactly what that means but when I took it to my dealership the lights had went off and they just looked at me, saying that they can't fix something that's not there. It's scared me because it decreases speed while on the highway and the other cars obviously don't know what's happening and we almost got into an accident. I'm nervous about my car while driving in the road. This has happened on the streets as well as highway.

While driving with my daughter my truck started to pick up speed than slow down as if it was about to cut off. The check engine light came on than the engine power started to reduce . We had it checked out and we told several different codes showed. The vehicle will not turn back on. The dealership informed us that the timing chain had stretched and needed to be replaced. After looking up recalls on the vehicle and the problem others are having with the same make and model I called gm to see if they were willing to help. I was told there's nothing they can do because the problem is not big as of now but in the future if they continue to have them problems they would send me out a recall on it. My problem is how many more complaints do they need before they recall timing chain for the Traverse. I feel they are very dangerous while driving if the trucks will shut down while driving high speeds. A lot of people can be hurt being this.

My Traverse currently has 75k miles and is already having problems with the timing chain. I took it to chevy but. Was going to be around 3k to get fixed. This car is almost brand new and we've taken care of it and upper maintenance. Its still running but the check engine light is on and I cant afford it. I thought chevy would stick to their word and keeping great quality cars. Ive always bought chevy and currently my 3rd chevy car but its obsurd how cheaper and more problematic theyre getting and ive looked into it online and a lot of people on various sites have complaints about the timing chain at around 80k miles and once it gets fixed it has the constant problem over and over. All I ask is chevy to make it right and keep their word and sell good cars and put a recall on it and fix the problem. I know chevy makes great money and they can make it right and give people what they pay for. My car still have a lot of life and im just so disappointed in this, its so stressful. Please help. Timing chains stretched. Reviewed online complaints and this is a common problem for this vehicle. Chevy has not issued a recall. Check engine light came on and would go off sometimes. When I took the vehicle in I was told that my strut was also leaking. $3000 later I have new timing chains and breaks, and still need to pay an additional $1000 for the struts. I drive mainly highway to and from work. No reason timing chain should have just stretched and had to be replaced.

The vehicle had multiple failures as well. However, the engine failed again and never restarted. The check engine light did illuminate. The vehicle was taken to stockers chevorlet (814) 515-9941 701 benner pike, state college, PA 16801 where they were informed that the engine failure blew out four sylinders and the failure was due to a bad timing chain. They also did nothing for them the vehicle was not repaired and still needs an engine. The manufacturer was not informed. The failure mileage was unknown. Jw.

We had a check engine light come on and when tested we received several different codes. The vehicle did not accelerate and ran rough. The dealership informed us that the timing chain had stretched and needed to be replaced. This appears to be a common issue with several different gm cars including the acadia and enclave. Gm provides a special coverage adjustment for several makes and models for this issue under "special coverage adjustment #11340c", but not the 2010 Traverse.

On all occasions, my car was in motion on major city streets and side roads and my driving speeds ranged from 25mph to 55mph. The following messages flash across the dashboard: traction control off, engine power is reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak. The check engine light comes on with the stabilitrak icon. My speed was thrown down to the range of 10mph to 40mph. The entire car began shaking and the exhaust pipe was giving loud "puffing" sounds. This happened several times, but the third time, I was not able to restart my car. I had it towed to the dealership I bought it from. After having it for a month, they were unable to find the issue, therefore nothing was fixed, and I was told "let us know if it happens again. " wow! . . . And it happened again months later - again three separate times! again, the dealership said they received no "error messages" for that issue, only for my car alarm being faulty. Good grief! had I been on a freeway during one of these occurrences, I would have been rear-ended and into a bad accident; but "we'll just see if it happens again!" I offered the dealership video and pictures as proof of the issue, but nothing has yet been done. I have a video that lasts 1min and 11 seconds, but its too large for me to upload (even when I shorten it down to a minimum 25seconds to get the gist of the issue).

Check engine light came on about a month later took the vehicle to a local mechanic and was told the engine was blown. 3 cylinders were checked and had low compression and was told it could have caused the motor to stall while driving and to not drive it any more due to the dangerous condition this could cause. Never received any indication there was a catastrophic issue with the motor, never received low oil or high temp nothing?.

On more that one occasion but most recently on 03/16/2018 I have driving my vehicle and I get the first message of, "service stabilitract". The next message is, "traction control off". It is then following by, "engine power is reduced" and my check engine light comes on. The vehicle then decelerates to 10-20 mph. This has occurred to me twice while on the highway travelling in excess of 60 mph. (not while accelerating). This has occurred while accelerating from 0 mph, 30+ mph, 60+ pmh and decelerating from 60+mph, 30+mph and from 0 to 30 mph. It has occurred while turning a corner, driving in a straight line. The dealership said to bring the vehicle in after an incident without turning off the vehicle. I have not been able to drive the vehicle without ever having to stop and turn off the vehicle. The power steering is almost non-existent after reduced engine power occurs. It feels like it is running on three of the six cylinders and has almost caused me to have an accident. I almost hit a school bus once. The vehicle is at the dealership again for it's second week of diagnostics.

"takata recall" when I was driving home I had my check engine light come on and the traction control disengaged and the same time. It also reduced engine power (it also said it was on the dash board) however with no warning started to slow too quickly while I was dribing down street which speed limit is 50 mph. As I had another vehicle behind me who had to switch quickly to next lane. Once I made it home I did some research on this issue and their hundreds of complaints of the same problem. . . I never seen so many of the same issue with the same manufacturer. . . I have 3 children and are mostly with me when I'm on the road. Luckily I left them home this time. And no one got hurt. However, this is a major safety concern. . . I strongly believe if this would have happen on my way to work during rush hour on the highway. I would have had a different outcome. While driving the reduce engine speed, traction control, stabili-trac, and the check engine light flashes. The engine speed was reduced to a crawl. This has happened three times now and the speed doesn't seem to make a difference 30mph - 65mph. While we have been able to turn the car off and get it to drive home after 5 mins, it is dangerous because it happens while driving at higher speeds in the middle of traffic.

While driving the car is just died and everything locked up and almost rain into a curb with kids in the car. Check engine light was on and had the code p008 and car diagonosed with timing chain issues and needs to be replaced.

I have a 2010 chevy Traverse. First it started with a warning lights of the stabilizing track being turned off and my abs light came on. On 2/18/2018 my reduce engine warming popped on while I'm doing 75mph and my car lost power while I'm on the California freeway, shaking and slowing completely down. I'm pregnant and I was scared that someone couldn't of just slammed right into me. I pulled over to shut down my vehicle to try to reset it but it didn't work. All the same warning lights came back on and the car wouldn't go past 40mph while sputtering on my way to work. I bought the SUV used two years ago without any problems until recently. I was not informed about any recalls with this vehicle and that's very upsetting since this is my family car and my self and my kids are in it 99% of the time and my job is 70 miles away from my home. To make things worse, now my check engine light stud on. I don't have money for any major repairs. Especially one that is a wide spread issue and gm is aware of.

I come to a stop then my SUV starts to shake then turns off as I am at a light or about to turn at a stop. When I push an the gas pedal the whole SUV shakes and sometimes the check engine light turns on right before the whole car just turn off when I come to a stop. I've had all 4 co2 sensors changed. Everything the dealership has told me to fix I have paid to have done on my car. And yet my problem is the same thing for the past 3 years. I couldn't return it because I waited to long after my warranty. Now I am told to keep paying for services I have already paid to have done. Even though it happens to be the same thing the system is showing up on the computer. I have a lemon on my hands and need help figuring out what can be done to fix this.

At roughly 130000 miles, I took my vehicle to a mechanic because of a check engine light that was on. I was told that it was due to my timing chains. I have known of another case of the same problem in a vehicle with the same engine as mine that had the exact same thing happen. The mechanic told me that he fixed at lease 12 vehicles with this problem in the last year.

P008 p0017 same problems with earlier years. This should be covered as well. Driving and check engine light comes on to show these codes. Cost for repair is way too much money.

My 2012 Chevrolet Traverse with 72,000 miles is experiencing the same issue as many other Chevrolet vehicles regarding v6 timing chain. Check engine light comes on with code p0016 p0017. Since I purchased my vehicle in December of 2011, I'm over the 5 year portion of the warranty and the 2012 Traverse is not included in the customer service program extending the warranty on vehicles with the same engine to 10 years / 120,000 miles. Chevrolet needs to be made to recall vehicles they made with this issue.

My check engine light appeared this evening in my 2010 Traverse as well as service stabilitrack and traction control. As I accelerated my fuel level indicator went down and when I hit the brakes it would shoot up to full. I am one of many to deal with the issue with specifically a chevy Traverse.

Vehicle had had been shuddering and misfiring on and off for quite some time, check engine light came on, took to shop for diagnosis. Shop stated codes were related to stretched timing chains. I then took to dealer, got same diagnosis and a $2,000 estimate. Had repairs done. Check engine light has not come back on since. Car would hesitate and loose power attempting to accelerate when taking off in traffic. Felt unsafe driving, as I never knew when car was going accelerate or not.

Takata recall, driving on the highwau my traction controll and check engine light came on. The powere of my engine reduced and my speed would not go faster 25mph. This is the second time this has happen but when I taken the vehicle to the dealership the first time the problem does not occur and nothing is fix.

At 68,000 miles, the check engine light came on, I took it to the local chevy dealer who said it was a timing chain problem. They said that it would cost about $3200 to fix. Doing some research (obd2 codes p0008 and p0009) this is a common problem with this particular engine, spanning many models and model years.
