We were driving about 70mph on the highway when the engine started to make a knocking sound and losing power. We pulled over to see what was wrong and the car wouldn't start. We got a jump and had to buy a new battery due to it being drained. Got a new battery and pulled up the code for the knock sensor. We replaced it and new codes pulled up. The engine thru a rod with no warning of anything being wrong with the Traverse. It was well maintained with only 140,000 miles. The new battery we bought was drained almost immediately and needs to be charged for the Traverse to even start when the mechanic looked at it.

Engine began to make loud noise knocking noise while driving. Checked all fluids and they were all in good condition. Had a mechanic check, they said engine was shot and that they have seen a lot of the Traverse vehicles have engine failure.
Takata recall for the timing chains. My family and I was on our way to chicago when I heard a knocking noise. I pulled over to the side and had my car towed to the dealership. They advised me that the timing chain was the issue and was a known issue on these cars.

I was at a red light, foot on the brake when the vehicle accelerated jumping from 1000rpm to 3000rpm, multiple times in a row. Causing my car to lunge forward over and over again. I contacted the dealership immediately & was asked to drive my car in. I was headed to a destination first. When I arrived at my destination, I turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes. When I turned my car back on, there was a loud bang noise, car smelled like something was on fire & the acceleration did not return. What did happen was I now had no air conditioning. Dealership stated it was the ac compressor that went out and caused all the issues.

Truck was being driven on the freeway, driver excelerated to pass another vehicle and it acted as though it had run out of gas. It was pushed to the gas station and filled up with gas, then it wouldn't start and eventually the battery died. It was jump started and drove a few miles to the house with a knocking sound. Independent mechanic evaluated it and said the engine is blown. It had regular maintenance, without missing an oil change, all mainteance has always been done on this vehicle since it was bought brand new in June of 2010. There were three safety recalls, one including a gas tank issue, and although several messages were left on the "recall hotline", no return call was ever received. Mechanic says there is metal in the oil but the engine oil is not low. This vehicle is too new to have a blown engine. Help!.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. While driving 70 mph, the engine seized. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the off ramp of the highway into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to classic Chevrolet Cadillac (3855 eastex fwy, beaumont, TX 77706, (409) 892-5050) where it was also determined that the engine needed to be replaced and metal shavings were found in the oil. The contact stated that Chevrolet issued a report that engines in the vehicles may experience metal shavings, which could cause engine failure. On two occasions, the contact pointed out knocking noises to the dealer when she brought the vehicle in for oil changes. The manufacturer stated that they could not assist. The failure mileage was 115,084.
