Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2015 Chrysler 200 - part 1

It has done it before like 6 months after we bought it but it hasn't done it again. I thought I had turned the wrong knob so didn't really look into it much until recently. It almost got is killed. We were gettingoff an exit turning right and it died in the middle of turning. In front of the cars comingour way. . It shuts off while driving at any speed and flashes "shift to park" in order to do that you have to completely stop and shift it then turn off your car in hopes it'll start right up. . . It dont. We were on a busy over pass when it happened a few days ago. Yesterday (04/26/2021) we were by the court house and it done the same thing. Today (04/27/2021) it didn't even want to start. It idled high and acted like it was dying. I of course had to drive my children to school so it was scary.

I have a 2015 Chrysler 200. After the car sits for a few hours an engine has time to cool completely down it shuts off on its own after restart and acceleration. If I start to slow down it will shut completely off and tell me to put into park. It has done it countless times on busy roadways, when I?m coming to a stop at stop signs or traffic lights. It is starting to also shut off as I am turning. Not only is it extremely dangerous and completely unsafe but it?s extremely annoying. It seems to do it more if the engine hasn?t completely ?warmed up? before I drive it. They have recalls for this exact problem on certain Chrysler 200s but apparently mine doesn?t fall under that recall and seems ridiculous that it doesn?t. Seems as though tens of thousands of the 200s are having this same issue but they pick and choose what ones are fixed. Is Chrysler waiting for families to die in car accidents before they finally fix the problem!?.

While driving about 30 miles an hour my car just shuts off and then won't start for about 5 minutes this almost caused me to have a collision because I could not steer very well. The car has not been serviced I have about 93,000 miles on my car. I'm only working part time because of covid and cannot afford to get it fixed. Please help me figure out what's wrong with my car.

The car is stopping at every time the gas accelerates the car shuts down.

The car will randomly shut off without warning. No warning lights, no error codes, nothing. I was going down the interstate and the car shut off requesting that I place it in park. Sometimes it will start back up sometimes it takes days. This has happened on over 15 occasions.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle just shut off. The vehicle coasted down the road and the power steering turned off. The contact was able to pull the vehicle off the road to the shoulder. The contact waited five minutes and the vehicle eventually restarted to be driven home. The vehicle stopped several more times before it finally was driven to the contact's home. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 88,730. Tf.

She was driving down a city road 35 mph and the motor shut off for no reason she had no power steering and the breaks where too hard for her to press the trans locked up and put it self into park and that must be why the trans is slipping after only 56000 miles on the car this has happened twice now in a month and after the car shuts down it does start right back up and drive normal after that.

The vehicle shut off while driving, shortly after being started. I've already installed a new battery. It happened again on 6/6/2020.

We turned onto a main road and we were in front of traffic driving down the road. We had to apply the brakes due to someone cutting us off, then when we tried to accelerate again it shut off and said shift to park while we were in the middle of a busy road. The car behind us almost crashed into us and had to swerve away from us. We had no control over our vehicle, all we could do is try to get the car to turn back on, to get out of traffic. However, we tried to and the car wasn't functioning correctly. The d for the drive position was blinking. We had to completely stop the car, in the middle of traffic, and hope that we didn't get hit by oncoming traffic coming from behind us due to having to control over our vehicle. We pushed the button to the ignition/start to start it and it wouldn't start it. It sounded like it had no power at all and then after a few attempts, while exposed and defenseless in the middle of the road with my family, it finally started and we got going again. This is not the first time this has happened, however, it's the first time it has with my family in the car. This car is unpredictable and unsafe due to that, my family at risk just going to the grocery store. It is our only means of transportation. We looked it up, it falls under crystler recall s55.

Quite a few times now I have been driving down the road coming to a stop and my vehicle just shuts off. Oil life says 30% but the car still stalls and runs rough. I've almost been in 2 collisions because of this, and I've paid for 3 of the tows. They replaced my ecu but the problem is still happening.

The car stalls and shuts down with no warning at all. Has been in the shop for the last 3 weeks. It was bought used from drivetime in duluth georgia. I was told by national tire and battery that they were not going to touch when I took it there for repair, they recommend that I take it to a Chrysler dealer, at that time it would randomly stall but would start back up so I went to work the next day and they car stalled again and got really sluggish I was able to make over to Chrysler dealership in buford georgia. They said it needed a tire sensor after they put the tire sensor on it stalled out on them again so they then said it needed a abs modular once they installed the abs modular took it for a test drive and it stalled on them again then they said they found some loose wires near the transmission the fixed and the car was running. I had the car for 2 days and it stalled out again. Drivetime then sent a tow truck over to take the car back to Chrysler in buford now they are saying the car needs a wiring harness at this point to me the car is unsafe and not reliable at all. I pick my grandkids up daily and I can not afford to have them in the back seat and the cars stalls and we get hit. Obviously they don't know what wrong and they are speculating. I have only had this car 4 month on February 12th 2020 and it's been in the shop for the last 3 weeks and Chrysler can't even repair a Chrysler. . . This is a huge problem. Drivetime is paying for everything so far except our funerals god forbid something awful should happen. This all happened on highway 78 in snellville georgia and they car was in motion when it stalled out. This is unsafe, we could have been rammed the car just shuts down in the middle of accelerating, slowing down for a turn, going downhill, in the intersection it has shut down but that time it started right back up.

This car has a problem with cutting off with out proper light warnings. It shuts off while in motion, which is very dangerous. I have taking it to be seen but no one can find a problem with it. I have searched online and found people owning these types of cars are having the same issue. It is not the battery starter or anything of that nature so its something else. It happens while in motion on city streets and most deffinately while making turns.

The other day I just driving down a hill and my car just shut off, which was very scary , I push the start button a few times and it starts and drives fine, til today I'm taking my kids to school and it shuts down in the middle of traffic, and I had til sit for a couple cause it wouldn't start, finally after pushing the start button it started and then a few hours later I stop at the store and the car shuts down once again as I'm parking my car. This is a server hazardous driving this car.

Two times in the last week my car has stalled while I was driving. The first time I was turning onto a busy street and was stuck in the middle and the second time I was on railroad tracks. No lights came on to indicate a problem before it shut off. It took multiple tries before the car turned back on. No codes come up when checking for a problem so mechanics have told me there is nothing they can do to fix the issue.

Driving 60 mph on highway, car shuts down completely. Not first time and happens every couple of months. Dealership acts as if they don't know how to fix problem. I am a single mother with 2 young children riding in this car. Does one of us have to risk dying or serious injury for Chrysler to acknowledge or fixed this problem.

I was driving about 35 to 40 mph and the car suddenly began to slow down to 5 miles an hour. I pulled over to the side of the road and it shut off. I had it towed where the dealership told me it was the battery. They kept my car for two days. For a new battery. So I popped up there with my fianc� and drove around to the back side of the dealership. I got in my car it started right up. My car had not been touched or anything. I went to the service cashier where he tried to say that put a brand new battery in it. But I pulled up my cell phone pics showing it's the same battery that I put red finger nail polish on to show it's my same battery. They made me pay for � looking st my car� even though they didn�t. I never bought another battery. I drove my car off the lot and the next day it did the same thing again except this time the brake pedal was stiff and I was not able to turn the nozzle to put it in gear. I had it towed to another dealership and they said it was �the battery�. They jumped my car off and sent me on my way. The a/c is going in and out and it smells moldy when I am able to start the piece of shit. I tried to trade my car in this passed Sunday and they said I needed a consigner and 10k down. I don't have bad credit. They were just saying that because they know my car isn't worth anything. The salesman antoine strong told me it's only a matter of time before the transmission goes out. I have 75k miles on my car. It has been one nightmare after the other. This is the worst car I have ever had. Please help me get out of this car. Oh the dealership I got this shitty car from is landmark Dodge Jeep Chrysler ram in morrow, GA. They don't care about what type of car you want they only want to put you in a new car. They send me thousands of flyers a year to trade my car in but when I do they don't want it. I was just told by antoine strong!.

Car engine stalls when driving down the interstate. Engine just shuts off completely. I will pull over and to the side of the road and it will then start back up but does it again. Upto 4 times while driving my car home from work.

My car shuts off with no warning what so ever. Check engine is not on and my car runs and drives amazing. I took it to the dealership and they said they fixed it but when I went to drive and hour after I picked the car up from the dealership it shut off.

"cold start" my car had a recall for a device that needed to be replaced. "shuts off while driving" I was informed that it was replaced and this would solve the problem. "cold start" this is happening again in the mornings, the car starts fine: I'll sit and let it warm for about 5 mins. When I drive out the carport parking make a left, then making a right the car shuts off while driving. This has happened 2 time's last month. Same issue this month, but it has happened 10 times this month. I warm the car and then proceed to drive, shuts off completely , before it would start right up, now it's having a delayed starting issue as if it doesn't want to start. Same routine as to warming up my car, I made a right onto the street and when slowing down because there was a dip, car shut off, 3 attempts to start it up. The car shut off again at the stop sigh before heading into a major intersection of oncoming traffic. It is now taking at most 3 times to attempt before the car starts and now the needles in the car on the dash board roll over from the 0 and back. It also has a delay when trying to exhilarate. This is happened to my on the streets while in motion, making turns, driving straight. This is very dangerous and the recall specified that the car could shut off while on the highway.

On Saturday 29/9/2019 I was getting ready to go to work from fremont, CA to san jose, CA and my car wouldn't start. I had to press the push start several times to get it to start,. Once it did start when I turned on the defroster it started shaking and turned off. I had to let it idle more than 15 minutes before it warmed up. I made it around the block about a quarter mile before I came to a stop sign and the car shut off. I managed to turn it back on and pull over. It continued to stall until I got back home. Since then it's been shaking when on idle and it jerks between gears. While on the 880 freeway the car will decelerate during peak traffic hours causing me to have to pull over to the slow lanes to avoid getting rear ended. I'm taking to the dealership for diagnostics.

The car has shuts off while driving. I bought the car used last year in March 2018. It had issues w/jerking between gears and "hopping", but several months ago, just shut off while driving 75 mph on a highway (twice in 15 mins). Dealership attempted to fix. But, its back to same problem. It shut off Tuesday while out of town at a hotel while pulling out onto a 5 lane road. Supposedly fixed, and then shut off on interstate 695 around baltimore last night while two lanes of traffic over. Shutting off with -0- warning while traveling on busy interstates is extremely dangerous and possible life threatening. Per research, this seems to be a major issue for this car, not sure why NHTSA has not recalled it yet.

The failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.

Car just shuts off while driving . Stopped at a red light waiting to turn and when it turned green the engine began to stall. Wasn't expected and almost caused me to get into an accident- I was on a city street . I had to put my car park and restart it a few times . I took my car to Chrysler this morning and they said there is no recall and maybe it's my oil life but I just got a oil change a few days ago . I feel very unsafe driving this car on the road.

I have had this car 3 months and the following this has happen numerous times over 10 and almost cost me my life along with family members. 1. While driving the vehicle the engine shuts off for no reason with no warning lights. I must put the car in park and put brake on to restart car and the engine just continue to turn over before it catches. The vehicle has stalled/shut -off on me going over a railroad track with me and my grandkids in the car. I am so blessed no train was coming. 2. While driving the car will also shift unexpected to neutral. 3. When I go to accelerate the car will hesitate and jerk and act like it may be stuck in between gears. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealership and the salesperson drove the car and it happen to him as he was driving and came back and said I can't tell you the problem but you do have a major problem it shut off on him as he was driving it on a major road. I have taken it to a shop left it over night and the mechanic states you have major problems with this car. It is unsafe to drive. All this problem with the car has been while the car was in motion on city streets and highway. All of this started January 4, 2019. The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a death trap and lemon!.

"takata recall" my car shuts down while driving which is a big problem because my children is the car. Also when I push the gas it stalls then it turn over .

Takata recall my vehicle shut down on me last night while driving for the umpteenth time since I've had it. I've contacted Chrysler but of course they act as if they know nothing. I got serviced for two recalls one in 2016and the other 2017 and neither have remedied the issue. There is no code, no lights come on or anything. The only warning warning that I get is for me to put it in park in order to restart it. I'll never purchase another Chrysler in my life.

The first incident of the car stalling occurred in a parking lot on 8/18/18, it just shut off while still in gear. I put it in park and restarted it and I was able to continue driving. Later that same day, I was driving home, thankfully on a quiet road. It started to sputter and shut off again while still in gear. Somehow I was able to pull to the shoulder of the road. This time, I could not get it restarted, so I called my roadside assistance who towed the car to the place I purchased it. They changed the spark plugs and said they were oxidized and were probably the cause. I picked up the car on 8/21/18 and it drove ok. The next day, I was driving home and as I turned the corner onto a busier road, it stalled again while still in gear. I could not get it to restart at all. This was quite scary even though I was over as far to the right side of the road as I could be with my hazard lights on. I called roadside assistance again and I received a text that they would be there in less than 45 minutes, and then another stating they would be there in less than 20 minutes. The sheriff that showed up said she wasn't waiting around for 75 minutes and forced me to have my car towed by the county tow company as she said it would be faster. My tow company showed up less than 2 minutes after theirs did, but I was told too bad and they took my car to impound. I had to come up with almost $300 to get my car out and then I called my roadside and they switched me over to Chrysler roadside who was able to tow the car to the nearest Chrysler dealer, where it now sits. I told them I am afraid to drive this car now and I want it fixed. I am thinking it is this is the electrical system recall r24.

Driving down highway and car shut off. The dash lights went out but control lights stayed on. Took 3 attempts to start again. 2nd time this has happened.

2015 Chrysler 200 have had nothing but trouble with the car since purchase. Transmission runs very rough, car jerks, shifts gears unexpectedly, engine shuts off while driving. 9/29/17 engine shut off while driving and car hit a curb. Have taken to the dealership over and over and they say nothing is wrong with the car and have not noted in my file that I have complained about transmission problems. Was contacted by Chrysler engineers that were doing a study on the transmission problems and wanted me to test drive a newer model to compare. They admitted Chrysler knew about problems with this model but have been unable to get Chrysler to admit or buy back the vehicle.

While turning onto the on ramp of the freeway one morning, the car engine shut off. I had to quickly get out and push the car out of the lanes. The car prompted shift to park and attempted to restart. After some time approximately 2 to 3 minutes trying to start, the vehicle started back up. The lights were dimmer and power was weak. Drove about a mile (at 32mph as the max speed the car would allow) and it shut off again. Once again prompting to shift to park. The vehicle restarted with no issue this time. Made it to the front of my house, 3 miles away from where it stopped the second time, and it stopped again.

Vehicle shut down at random after 1 month of driving when purchased April 2017 and has been stalling and randomly shutting down since. There has been two to three maintenance checks at two auto services including chysler. This problem has not ben fixed. I was deiving everytime it shutdown and the vehicle stalls while driving and sometimes when stationary.
