Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2015 Chrysler 200 - part 2

This vehicle has shut off on me while driving. I was driving home from work last night and the car just shut off, telling me to shift to park and select desired gear. The gear indicator was still showing I was in drive, but the engine was completely off. I tried to start the car 3 more times and it wouldn't start. I purchased this car November, 21, 2015. Luckily I wasn't driving fast or anything, I was able to just sit in the road until the car came back on. I am really terrified to drive this vehicle anymore.

My vehicle is now a year old and was purchased with 54 miles on the car. Purchase complete in June, by September vehicle needed the motor replaced (so disappointing and such an inconvenience). The car has been stalling amid traffic which is extremely dangerous. The dealership supposedly fixed that issue and yet more stalling now than before. I have reached out to Chrysler several times about this lemon and not much help has been given at all. As I type now the complaints with the car is that the car stalls displaying the battery light but starts back up. Took the car to dealership to see exactly what the problem was and of course they stated the same thing (OH the battery must be replaced) at the expense of $390 which I refused those services. Went to get battery tested from a second opinion and the battery life was fine and was not die to be replaced. Now when the car stalls it displays the battery light, traction light, power steering unavailable and shuts off. Well to top that problem and the 3 or fourth time of stalling depending on the distance, car shuts down completely for approximately 20 minutes displaying braking system notification when the car now does not shift into and gears. The air/heating system, radio, lights, etc still works but car can't go into park, drive, reverse, neutral, or low. I emailed Chrysler along with pictures and of course I am yet to get a reply.

Ive had trouble with this vehicle since I took possession 6/30/2014! issues has been: brakes(2x), uconnect (numerous times taken in for service and still has the same problem), aux- (numerous times taken in for service and still has the same problem, driver chair lever, vehicle shut down with flashing dash and gear lights while driving causing near death accidents (numerous times), radio shut down, vehicle came to a complete shut down and I had to have it towed, vehicle wouldn't start and I had it towed, vehicle accelerates on its own after the brake is released (take in numerous times and still had this problem, this ongoing issue has caused me to get into an accident and now Chrysler has denied my claim for them to fix my vehicle due to there negligent. I take the vehicle in for service for these ongoing issues and I get the vehicle back stating that there is nothing wrong but I have the same problems overtime!! I have video and pictures.

The vehicle is consuming the oil and then shuts off with no warning has left us in 2 intersections had the car looked at both times the dealership is monitoring oil after cryselr done a reset but it is still consuming oil I have spoke with crysler but nothing has been done to ensure my families safty.

Car shuts off while driving and without warning. Yesterday driving home during my commute, in one of the busiest highways in nyc the vehicle shut off. This was a harrowing experience because it was rush hour, I was at the time, passing a short bridge which offered no shoulder for me to pull over. Confused and bewildered, I felt fearful someone my not see me and slam behind me. I quickly put my four ways and literally put my arm out the window frantically waving traffic around the disabled vehicle. As I tried to re-position the gear knob from driving to park, the light indicator would not move from the drive position although the knob did rotate to the park position. After 5 minutes or so, I attempted to start the car by pressing on the ignition button and like nothing ever happened it started up and I was able to drive home safely, although this type of event could had had a very different result.

Takata recall: my car shuts off and will not power back up or allow to start sometimes when I stop. It also will not detect my key fobs while im trying to start it. Also, it will jump very badly when going slow(street) or fast(freeway). The car also smelled like fire while I was driving one day. It also had an issue where it shut off while I was reversing. I took it to the dealership 4 times and made a complaint with corporate 2 times. They always seem to say they did not find anything wrong with my car. One of my case numbers with Chrysler corporate is 29448239 and the other is 29301258. Both were closed although I stated that the issue was not resolved.

Before reaching 1000 miles, I knew that there were terrible problems with the engine: jerking, hesitating and stalling. These engine/transmission problems make my car unsafe to drive as we have experienced several close encounters with accidents as a result of these defective problems!!. I have complained to our dealership where I purchased my car. But for some reason they couldn't get me in to check on my vehicle because of so many of the same issues I was told & also stated that it wasn't their fault to check with Chrysler corp?? since then was almost killed twice (my whole family)!! merging onto I-20 in georgia, going about 50 while merging when there was a tractor trailer moving up quickly in my rear view mirror I hit the gas but nothing happened!!! I started yelling OH my god my kids screamed daddy my wife screaming then, the car shuts off so now im without power, the truck started laying on his horn then there was blue smoke from the tires of the truck!! "twice" this has happened!!! other incidents, while pulling up to a stop sign or stop light while slowing to stop it would jerk then speed up sometimes throwing me into on coming traffic!! something has to happen!! this car is a death trap!!.

Transmission failure it was replaced once and went again so less than 20k miles and it went through 2 transmissions. I feel very unsafe and refuse to drive the car after the last incident. A/c froze up had to replace carpet in vehicle 2x I have had a rental car for the last 2 months while it was being repaired. Transmission failed going up hill 70 mph in PA with semi-truck behind me who almost rear ended me the vehicle shut off and I lost all power including power steering. I slowed down at 15 mph the car went into park and the e-brake went on and jerked us all over the car.

Leaving for work in the am, started my 2015 Chrysler 200, reversed out of my driveway, made it to the corner of my cul DE sac and the engine completely shut off. There was a message in the display including the words "trans," and "emergency park. " the entire electrical system shut down and the emergency brake engaged. I could not put the car in park because the gear system was locked up. When the tow truck arrived he had a hard time with it because the emergency brake would not release, and the wheels would not roll. I couldn't move this car if I wanted to. I couldn't open the trunk, lock the doors, use flashers, nothing. . . Anything electrical was out of commission. My local Chrysler dealership had the car for two days, said they "performed many software upgrades" and "test drove it extensively" and that it was fixed. 20 minutes after I picked it up, I was driving in the center lane of a 3-lane highway, with my 4 year old and 1 year old in the car, and the engine shut down and the car's power and electrical system shut down also. Luckily, I was able to coast into a parking lot. I had the car towed back to the dealer again. The manager of the dealership said if it happens again, I can replace the car or they will buy it back. I am terrified to drive this car again. I was lucky the first time, barely lucky the second time, who knows what situation I might be in if I agree to let this happen again? I cannot put my children in this car again. This vehicle is a substantial safety risk, and also poses additional risks to other drivers on the road around it. Since everything shuts off when this happens, if I were to get into a crash as a result of it, the airbags likely would not deploy, adding to the risk of injury. I do not feel comfortable in a Chrysler 200, I no longer want this vehicle.

I was driving and my dashboard started blinking telling me I had to park the car. Once I parked for a little bit I was able to restart it but the engine light was still blinking. I was able to get it home before it shut off again and I will have it towed today. This is the second time within the last month that this has happened with the car.

Engine stalls/shuts off while driving July 13th, 2015 while driving the car the engine shut down, would not re-start right away. Got it restarted. Made arrangements to take it into dealer. While at the dealer they said the computer had to be re-program we picked the car up July 17th. August 4th 2015 the same thing happened. It was at the dealership until August 10th. While in the shop the did many tests. Said they had a service bulletin pins on the computer board had to be straightened. Repairs were made and was told they were pretty sure they have resolved the problem. Was not real comfortable with that answer. August 17th the same problem occured. The car is now at the dealership for the same issue. Checking on line this is not an issolated problem. Hundreds of complaints.

Vehicle shut off while driving approx. 40 mph. Vehicle started blinking put car in park, service transmission, service park break. Then, it shut off on its own. All gears locked up and car would not restart. I was a sitting duck in the roadway. This has happened x2, July 2nd, 2015 and August 10th, 2015. Had it towed both times. First time Chrysler dealer stated they replaced tcm. This second time they are stating the car is reading multiple codes and they don't know what to fix.

The first incident I was driving through the city approximately 35 mph when the engine shut off. I was not able to restart my car immediately. After multiple attempts the car restarted and I was able to drive it approximately 1 mile before the engine quit again. I restarted it again after multiple attempts and parked it. I drove it home 3 hours later and it appeared to be normal. About a week later I was traveling on the highway when the engine stopped working again. I was traveling 70 mph. I had the vehicle towed to a Chrysler dealership where they could not "re-create" the incident so they gave me the car back. I had the vehicle for approximately 3 days when the engine died again while I was driving it. This time I was in the city traveling approximately 25 mph. I let the car sit for about 3 hours again and was able to restart it after multiple attempts. I was able to get the car back to the Chrysler dealership I bought it from. They have stated a re-call was done on it and the vehicle has been reprogrammed. The recall they stated that was done did not have anything to do with the engine so it is unknown at this time if the vehicle is actually fixed or not.

My wife was driving home from work last night, and the car shut down without warning. We have had the car for 10 months now, and this is the second time in two weeks that has happened. What I am most concern with is, if we are driving the car at the posted speed limit of 70 mph, and the car shuts off, what the consequences of that may be. I ask that you would please, please look into this issue, as it will eventually cause someone with this type of car to have a deadly accident, which I know can be avoided if it is taken care of in a timely manner. What is even worse for us is, the car dealership will not be able to even look at the car until 30 Apr 15, due to their overload of vehicles that they see on a daily basis, which now puts us at even more of a risk of an accident. My wife and I both work, and need both cars, but I will sacrifice missing work to ensure she makes it to her job safely. Again, I ask that you please, please take a look into this issue. I have been online and have seen many other complaints about the same issue with this particular car.

Driving down highway car just shuts off and are stuck in middle of road, car wont restart and have to wait 15min then it will restart. You can not push car off road. Have contacted Chrysler after 4 times to dealer ship for same problem and have been told can't duplicate or don't know what is wrong with it. Chrysler has opened up 2 cases and still no resolution. They declined to buyout the vehicle or replacement. I get same story, bring it in for service and we are sorry. No you will be sorry when my wife and kids are injured in this defective car. There has been numerous time of broken down on road and having dump truck or 18 wheelers dodging my car to avoid accidents. They have replaced computer, transmission parts and sensors. I truly believe it will never be fixed. Need to get the word out and Chrysler needs to be held responsible. I urge everyone to avoid these cars, unsafe and accident waiting to happen and dealership and Chrysler does not care!!!.

I have a 2015 Chrysler 200s, my car has stalled on 3 occasions while driving, each at different speeds. On two of the incidents, the car shut off, I was able to coast safely to the side of the road and place the car back into park. Once in park I was able to restart the engine and proceed with driving. On July 8, 2014 the car stalled and totally shut down. The car was locked and would not do anything. I attempted to place the car in park however the control knob (center console on these cars) to do so was locked and would not move. The engine was shut down however all electrical systems were still active within the car. Several service messages cycled through the display on the vehicle; therefore I contacted Chrysler roadside assistance. Roadside assistance arrived and my car was towed to the nearest Chrysler dealer (not the dealer I bought it from). Once at the dealer I was informed that my car would not be able to be looked at because they were too busy. Therefore my car remained on the lot, all electrical systems were still running throughout the entire night (approximately 12-15 hours) before it was looked at. In that time the battery had died, once it was jumped it started and it was able to be pulled into a service bay. After 2 days in the service dept I was informed they could not recreate the issue that caused the car to totally shut down and lock up while driving. They "road tested" the car 102 miles as instructed by Chrysler however no codes were active in regards to the incident on July 8, 2014. They have now returned my car to me without this major safety issue being addressed. The final verdict from the dealer was, we cannot recreate the stalling and shutdown therefore we will be returning the car to you. The car was bought brand new and I have had it 3 weeks.

I was driving on road at 38mph, car automatically slowed down and engine was shaking. I waa hitting the gas but it wouldnt go faster. I pulled over unto the median. I was afraid of a wreck. I waited 10 mins and drove off but it wouldnt go pass 30 then it shut off. I had flashers on so I wouldn't get hit. It cranked after 3 tries. I finally drove home. When I pulled in driveway temperature went very hot and said, shut engine off temp is hot! the air wouldn't work either. Now my airbag sign is on and says service airbag. Im afraid to drive this vehicle and dealership are two weeks backed up. Please help. This car is unsafe for my family.
