The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. While driving various speeds, the vehicle's thermostat ran hot. While accelerating, the thermostat would reset to normal. The contact also stated that while accelerating at 55 mph, the vehicle shut off and the electronic throttle control (etc) warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to wait thirty minutes before the vehicle was able to be restarted and resume normal driving. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the thermostat was replaced, but no error codes could be found regarding the etc. Despite the thermostat replacement, the failures persisted. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 132,000.

While I was at a red light to make a u turn my car was runing just fine , I proceded to make my u turn half way through my cars engine complete shuts off without warning or knowledge that it did due to everything else working just fine in the middle of traffic at that point my steering wheel got hard and I had to push it out of traffic. Did not feel safe that my car just shut off while driving I had my children in the car thankfully it did not result to any accident or injuries but it could have. Afraid to drive the car at all at the moment.

My car cut off and would turn back on I paid 250 for a battery and labor. Once I started driving it the car shut off in traffic.
Same problem that occurs with known recall p60 - NHTSA campaign number: 14v634000; Chrysler 300 while I was driving my vehicle shut down completely in the middle of a heavily populated city 3 lane road while I was driving at an unknown speed (35-40 mph) since my digital display screen and speedometer malfunctioned. While driving my car cut off completely with the only waring being "battery saver mode" that occurred less than 5 mins prior to my car shutting off. It appears the my alternator failed causing engine stall, thus increasing the risk of crash, since no warning is issued. Had it not been for the cop that pulled up behind me, I would have caused an accident on that street in which the police officer would have blamed me for. My car is currently at the dealership with a "alternator" repair. This repair doesn't apply to the current recall from 10/8/2014 because I have a 180 amp alternator with a 3. 6l engine, but not a 160 amp alternator with a 3. 6l engine.

I checked my oil before leaving on a 3 hr trip this past weekend, because I notice that centripetal force was causing my oil light light to ding. I figured it may need to be topped off. I checked it 3 times to be sure, and the dipstick showed I was at the max fill line. When the engine had overdrive engaged, it suddenly disengaged, losing all power. I pulled over to the side of the road when the vehicle shut off. Attempts to restart sounded as if the engine was seized up. I tried to roll it to disengage, no joy. Had it towed to my local Chrysler dealershipt (110 miles) and they told me the engine was bone dry. Can I suspect this to be an issue with oil sludge, as previously reported with the 2. 7 liter engines?.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle shut down and lost all power without warning. The vehicle restarted after a while. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and replaced sixteen spark plugs. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who replaced all the spark plugs again. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer, and to save the receipts for reimbursement in case of recall. The manufacturer also stated that there were two open recalls regarding the air bags. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
The engine shuts off while I'm driving and in reverse. I can restart it with no problem as long as I immediately step on the gas peddle. I have to shift into neutral to keep the engine running while at a stop light & back to drive. When I turn the key I do not hear the fuel pump like I used too! I've had repairs costing$509. 96 and still have the same problem! I think my fuel pump is not working correctly or about to stop working! is there a recall for the fuel pump?.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving at 63 mph, the vehicle shut down without any warning. The vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who test- drove the vehicle for about 80 miles but was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was notified but did not offer any help. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was 129,117. Fe.
Had two occasions in the past 12 months where as I'm driving along, the engine shut off and was barely able to keep car from colliding with other vehicles on road. Most recently, I experienced a 3rd incident where while driving at approx 30 mph, all warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle lost power and was unable to accelerate. Pulled over and shut off car. And tried to restart. Engine started but was in 'limp' mode and had codes in computer. Had car towed to mechanic and they stated codes p0344 , p0340 & b1a35 present. Advised that motor now has a knock in it and would need an entire replacement.
While driving at 35mph with the ac on the car shut down. I was able to coast to stop and re-start the car after a few minutes. Several days later the car shut down again at 40 miles per hour. With no power steering the car was diffcult to get over to the side of the road. Car started again after several tries and I made it home.
Vehicle's engine shut off while driving like the key would be pulled out, would not start right away, some times would not start at all before a trip. It happens daily and after going to 3 mechanics and 1 Chrysler dealership the issue cannot be identified. No codes are stored and therefore they said it's working fine. Do I need to get into an accident before this problem is addressed? I know about many people having the same issue with the same unidentified error. They have this problem with the new models and they should start checking the old one as well. It is definitely an ignition problem as the car can be started by bypassing the key switch.
Engine shut off while driving anywhere from 20-40 mph - or when the car is in idle mode - engine will shut off. Sometimes after refueling as well - gas tank was replaced with the warranty issued by Chrysler by an authorized Chrysler dealer however a day or two later I was back to seeing the same engine shut off issues. I find it hard to beleive that this is not taken as a severe safety concern. Someone is going to get hurt or killed due to this engine shut off issue - it should be reinvestigated.
After filling the Chrysler up with gas for the last 6 months, maybe more, the car starts and then within 3 feet it shuts off. The computer says that the system is ok. This happens 3 to four times in traffic. It has caused minor bumper problems. It is a serious safety issue. Finally, it was supposedly, inspected by bettenhausen, fiat in tinley park, but we never got a response or the problem alleviate. It did the same thing today on the highway. Thank god, there were no cars next to me. I had to pull over because the car stopped without warning.
One morning my husband was on his way to work around 6 am when suddenly the car shut off with no warning or indicator. The car was still under the manufacturer warranty so we had the car towed to the dealer where we purchased it (carmax). Upon further review we were told the engine blew due to sludge build up and they needed our maintenance receipts. Even after provided the documents for the last year they still refused to cover it under the warranty because Chrysler doesn't cover sludge build up. We were advised to research this problem by a shop that sells these 2. 7 liter engines because it was a common problem among these engines nation wide. Chrysler said they did not have enough complaints to issue a recall. Unfortunately they'll recognize this defect when there is a catastrophic pile up on the road and people lose their lives. This link is for a petition from people around the u. S with the same problems. . Read more...
I purchased the used car on July 20,2013 from car center in waldorf, MD. One week of driving the car I had to fill the gas tank up. Once I started to drive it the car began to stumble and shut off on me while I was driving. I immediately called car center and I was given a loaner car 08/01/13 and the car was supposely taken to waldorf Ford and Dodge to have it looked at. I called the waldorf Ford and Dodge to discuss my car. They told me the only thing they did was cut a new key for the car, which I had them fax me the receipt of the work done. My car shut off another 2 times while I was driving, just after fueling. When I personally dropped the car off at waldorf Jeep and Chrysler dealership the technician told me that I'm not the first one to complain about my car shutting of while driving, just after filling up my gas tank. I asked him was there a recall on the car that was not done. He said they're investigating it. I asked him what do I do in the meantime, his smartass answer just don't fill it all the way up. On 04/16/14, my car stalled in the middle of a busy highway while I had the green light to cross it. We were almost side swiped by another vehicle because they're light turned green and I couldn't get the car started in time to get out of the way. I no longer feel that this is "safe" to drive but yet I'm still stuck with these payments! please help I love the car but want something that is safe to drive.
Engine shut off after tank fill up.
After refilling the vehicle with gasoline I travel about a mile from the service station and while coming to a traffic light the vehicle rpm began to decrease until the car engine shut off; I was able to restart the engine and the vehicle drove a short distance and began to stall again. I restarted the vehicle and was able to get the vehicle off the road into a parking lot; after sitting briefly I restarted the vehicle and drove it to tire kingdom to have it checked, the technician scan the vehicle and determined that there was no codes available to determined what caused the malfunction. He took the vehicle for a test drive but was not able to duplicate the discrepancy; in his opinion since the vehicle tank had just got filled more that likely the problem was caused by a vapor lock. I was told since the problem could not be duplicated to continue with my travel and if the problem returned to return the vehicle back for evaluation.
After filling up the fuel tank, after approximately 30 seconds the engine shut down. It was hard to restart, but finally restarted. When pulling out fromt the fueling station, the car began to buck and jerk intermittently. When stopped at a red light, it stalled again. I restarted the car. When I proceeded when the light turned green, the car again stalled. This occured for the next 5-6 miles, then stopped occurring. This happened every time I refilled the fuel tank. Since ooa 15 December 2011, I cannot fill my fuel tank and have to stop it before the nozzle shuts if off. If I inadvertenly let it fill until the nozzle clicks off (doesn't matter the fueling pump/station), it will buck and stall for the next several miles until some of the fuel is burned off in the tank.
The car just shuts off when am driving. All the dashboard light go on and no power. The car shuts off when I stop and put it in park and other gears.
My engine shuts off when the car is low idling, typically in highway stop and go traffic or at a stop light. Everything shuts down, but the car starts up again 15 to 30 seconds after it stops. This has happened every year since I bought the car (2007) first occurring @ 25,000 miles. I experience this 4-5 times per year, usually during the winter with cooler temperatures and rain (I live in southern California).
