3 Radiator problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/12/2015

I have read multiple posts that fit exactly the same description to what happened recently with our 2006 Chrysler 300c 5. 7l hemi awd - so I thought I would share our experience. We have always taken very good care of our 300, regular services etc and have kept every single documentation since purchased. Recently, my wife was driving at 70-75 mph on I-95 - engine completely conked out and started steaming. Towed it to the mechanic. Originally the mechanic said it was just a crack/leak in the radiator, which would cost $750. They went ahead and fixed this problem. However, 2 hours later we get a call saying there was a severe crack in the engine that has caused a major leak internally. Now at the mercy of the mechanic, as we owe them $750 for their misdiagnosis. New diagnosis - need a complete engine replacement that would cost approx $8000-$8500. Absolutely pointless when you take into consideration kbb value is between $9,000-$10,000. After doing my research it seems a new 300 engine would be between $4,000-$5,500 and labor is approx $1,800-$2,500. So I guess it isn't a bad deal for mechanics who can possibly fix it themselves. However, as usual the loyal customers always seem to get screwed by Chrysler. Worst part about it is 4 months ago we purchased a new 300. Maybe this was one of the reasons they revamped the entire engine of the newer Chrysler 300 model range???.

9 Radiator problem of the 2008 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 08/26/2014

My wife had taken our 2008 Chrysler 300 in for service when while sitting in the service lane awaiting a service advisor with the engine running at idle one of the fan blades broke and went into the radiator. We found a technical service bulletin # csn-l08. We complied with sending all of the documentation per the service bulletin to Chrysler as instructed. After not hearing anything for more than 60 days after sending the documentation into Chrysler, we called Chrysler customer service and we were told that the reimbursement was denied due to some kind of sales code. When we asked what that was we were never told and kept being told the service bulletin was denied due to a sales code, but they would not tell us what that was and there is no such sales code mentioned on any of the paperwork and the service bulletin does not address any sales code. This seems to be a lot of double talk so it does not have to be reimbursed. We were never notified that the request was denied. We also had ignition problems per Chrysler recall # p57. This was still not fixed. We were told that was due to no parts available. We are brand loyal customers but this is changing our outlook for the Chrysler brand. Very disappointed with Chrysler's reaction to this issue.

10 Radiator problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

On yesterday I pulled into my driveway after picking up my seven year old son from school put my car into park and the exhaust fan explored. The blades hit the radiator so hard it put a hole in it. The fluid from the radiator poured out onto the drive. All I could do was sit and thank god it didn't happen the day before because I was out of town and I had to replace the shift lock in this same car as it was struck in park. What's next????? how many people have to complain about these two problems before a recall is issued. Clearly this is a problem with all these cars.

11 Radiator problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 06/23/2014

The fan broke and flew into the radiator, puncturing it. This caused the car to lose power and die while I was driving. Thankfully, I had just turned onto a street and was able to pull over to the side of the road. If it had happened while I was on the highway, it could have been extremely dangerous. Apparently, Chrysler has recalled the fan assembly on some of the models, but not on mine. It looks like this needs to be done to prevent others from having the same problem.

I was stop at the light and when the light change, I proceeded to drive and I heard a terrible noise that sound like a flat tire. I quickly pull off the road and found out the it was my radiator and red fluid was coming out. I found out later at the Chrysler dealer repair service that the fans had came a loose and puncture the radiator. He stated that several of the same type of car had the same problem with the fans coming loose and puncturing the radiator. Their should be a recall on that part and I should be refunded the money I had to spend to get it repaired.

16 Radiator problem of the 2008 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 02/28/2012

We have 5 Chrysler 300's used for transporting our residents in and around our community 4 out of 5 of these vehicles have had the same issue. The cooling system fan blades come apart and the shrouds of the fan go through the radiator causing immediate leakage of all coolant and destroying the radiator. As of date 4/30/12 Chrysler/Dodge has yet to recall this defect and is not covered under warranty. This is obviously a problem with this year, model and needs to recalled on the 300's and the Dodge chargers.
