1 Software problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/23/2020

Vehicle was purchased new in March 2019 off the showroom floor from a dealer in morton, IL. It had radio problems from the beginning and was noted on my first service visit 6/4/19. The radio would freeze on the loading screen and never operate. I was told to wait for software updates regardless of the amount of pictures and videos I showed the team members of what was going on with the radio freezing and rebooting, not to mention the WI-fi issues. Fast forward to July of this year and the whole radio and associated safety features went out. I was driving 1,000 miles from my new house in nc back to IL for a visit and 90 minutes into the drive the radio and climate controls all went out. I was then driving in the rain, in the mountains, without a way to defog my windshield. I'm very familiar will pulling the fuse to reset the radio (as noted in other service visits), but even that didn't fix it this time. For much of the drive I had heat instead of ac in the driver's area. Cameras were not functional during this time and the lane assist and cross traffic alert was intermittent. I arrived to central IL late at night on Thursday, July 23rd, now 600 miles outside the 36k warranty. I brought the vehicle in to pull codes on Friday, as instructed. I was told no one could help me at that point and to just come for my oil change on the 29th. On the 29th, my comment on the radio wasn't even acknowledge by the service rep and there are no notes on the service receipt about it. On Friday, August 28th, the radio started rebooting every 3 to 4 minutes. I have no use of safety features or cameras. The battery then died from rebooting the computers regardless of operation. Both sliding doors were disabled. The back hatch doesn't open at all. Uconnect safety location features were not working.

2 Software problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

First, thanks for this opportunity to bring up my concerns regarding my vehicle: I had the following issues with my 2018 vehicle: 1. On 20 Feb 20, vehicle was in motion when the charging system light came up regarding an issue with the electrical charging system. The vehicle almost turned off in the middle of the street. Now the off/ on start is not working. 2. 9 may 19; vehicle was stationary; another recall regarding the battery ground that have been built with a sealer that is used during the wire harness manufacturing process may accumulate on the wire harness tab which may cause a loss of clamp load in the battery ground joint over time. 3. 23 may 18; few days after purchased, the vehicle was stationary, the recall was about fault handling strategy of the engine control module or pcm software in the vehicle. I am really concern because this is a new vehicle from 2018 and is the vehicle utilized for my family on a daily basis and in less than 2 years and it has 2 recalls and one malfunction. I am really worry about the performance of my Chrysler Pacifica, and I am really concern that one of this days the vehicle left my family on the road.

3 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

This is the second complaint I have filed in 24 hours. I believe I am having a known problem/recall in my vehicle: engine stall due to software issue an engine stall can increase the risk of a crash. Nhtsa campaign number: 18v049000 I drove about 3 miles. Parked my vehicle and pushed the button to open the sliding back door. When I pushed the button the entire vehicle turned off including the engine and all the lights. Nothing on the dash remained lit. I tried to restart it and nothing happened. No sounds, click or lights appeared. I opened my door and waited about a minute then the interior lights turned on. The sliding back door had to be manually pulled shut at this point. I tried to start the vehicle again and nothing happened. I tried again and it hesitated, then started. I was able to drive about 10 miles to work after that.

5 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/16/2019

While the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system repeatedly displayed requests for setting a time during which the system would undergo an over-the-air software update. This dialog box could not be easily dismissed or cleared. I chose and set a time for the update; however, this request dialog was reinstantiated anytime a button was pressed, thus effectively rendering the touchscreen interface (including the navigation) unusable. The dialog had a default time for the system to update. This was set to the current time plus one minute. While attempting to clear the dialog and use the navigation, this default time was inadvertently chosen. One minute later, while the vehicle was in motion on the highway, the uconnect system initiated a software update which completely shut down the touchscreen interface and displayed a warning which said that the vehicle should be stopped and in park. As the car was in motion on the highway, this warning could not be immediately complied with. The repeated dialog boxes were incredibly distracting. The fact that the driver could inadvertently initiate a software update while in motion is not only dangerous but astoundingly absurd.

6 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

While driving, the car disabled radio and navigation to put up an alert to schedule a software update. Attempting to dismiss this alert by selecting a time resulted in the alert coming back. When I hit 'cancel' to block the update, the vehicle decided to perform a software update while driving. The vehicle created an reoccurring driver distraction, and then unsafely performed a software update while driving, during which it disabled emergency services.

7 Software problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

The electronics through uconnect shut off randomly or will not all work randomly. We have had the software updated by ourselves and the dealership on multiple occasions. While driving or in park. Next, our dash lights would not go off one night no matter what we did to shut them off and ended up killing the battery by morning.

8 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 05/21/2019

Currently have 53,078 miles on this van. It is serviced regularly by the same dealership we bought it from. Today as I was picking up my kids from school( speed limit is 15 mph) van suddenly lost power, it made beeping noise, and dash said to shift to park. I shifted to park and shut it down then restarted. It is driving normal again but I'm still taking it into dealership because ever since it had a software update last year, I have had issues with transmission slipping as I drive on highway. It slows down by itself and jerks van roughly as it automatically shifts to next gear. Also the trunk stopped making beeping sound when it opens.

11 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

Engine shut off while driving at approx. 25mph on a snow covered street in the dark. Lost all power and electrical systems and was stranded in middle of street with traffic all around. Engine restarted after a number of attempts. Vehicle had previously been updated with recall to address this issue in January of 2017 (u01/NHTSA 18v-049). Contacted Chrysler and was told they are aware of the issue and expect another software recall to be ready in April. They requested the vehicle be taken out of service and provided an rental car until update will be made available.

12 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/25/2017

Car, with no warning, lost all acceleration while driving approximately 35 mph and flashed several warning lights on dashboard including electronic stability control, forward collision warning, service forward collision warning, and electronic park brake failure. In addition, the shifter knob light blinks and switches to 'p'. At that point, I can only drift the car to a stop. In my case I was able to turn the car off, then restart it and the issue did not occur again for another 4 days. After 4 days, the exact same thing happened, this time while I was stopped at a red light. Took the car in for service and was told they performed a software update on the transmission and the car was fixed. I got about 1 mile from the dealer and the exact same thing happened while driving at approximately 30 miles per hour. Drove car back to the dealer and they have the car now again trying to figure out what is wrong.

15 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/14/2017

Vehicle purchased in December 2016 for $44,000 from safford of fredericksburg. On October 14, 2017, I was driving with my wife, three children and mother-in-law and experienced a loud malfunction that rendered the car inoperable. Luckily we were not on the highway at the time and the vehicle was eventually towed to safford of fredericksburg, virginia for repairs. The right front axel had ruptured (total miles on the car were 8,311 at that time). The service agent (jim bogan) noted that this had been flagged on other occasions as identified issues at other service department requiring the next "generation" of axel assembly parts for the repair. Shortly after receiving the vehicle, we returned to the same dealership to address a loud girding noise also associated with the right front axel. In early December, 2017 we had the vehicle towed once again to safford of fredericksburg where they again had to repair the right from axel. Intermittently and over the past year while these issues were occurring, we continued to experience electronic issues with the sliding doors and rear lift hatch as well. The uconnect entertainment system will also malfunction from time to time. Several software updates have been initiated, addressing window and transmission concerns according to the dealership's service department. Yet, the vehicle does not function properly, where idle and transmission functioning often appears compromised (rough idle, rough shifting, sudden rpm increases and acceleration bursts when shifting from reverse to drive). I fear this car is not safe for my wife and three young children.

16 Software problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/31/2017

Car shut down while in drive, 5300 current miles. I was driving in heavy traffic in nyc and car shut down, earlier in the day I was at a dealership in safford va and they performed software updates because the day before in florida windows opened and closed on their own in the front passenger side, cluster panel went on and off and battery light came on. Battery maintained its 14 amp charge for the next 90 miles I needed to reach autotrain in sanford florida. I immiediately went to service in safford virginia and they said it was an up[date issue. Drove the next 260 miles with no issue until it shut off????.

17 Software problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 05/07/2012

While driving at speeds of 10-35 mph, the oil and esp lights would illuminate, then the engine will simply cut off / stall. We have to put on the emergency flasher while in traffic, put the vehicle in neutral or park and restart. No engine light. We brought the Pacifica in to the Dodge dealership 5 times and they could not find any codes. They tried updating the software on the ecm which did not help. Then, the dealership said the motor mounts were bad and the torque of the engine was pulling on the front wiring harness(ES), causing the stalling issue. We had all 3 (front, rear, upper) engine/motor mounts replaced and the issue still happens every time we try to drive the car. The dealership has the car again and said the front motor mount still looks like it is bad even though it was replaced 4 days ago. Based on what I've read in the NHTSA database and the Dodge dealership telling me that motor mounts go out on a lot of Pacificas, this is happening to a lot of 2007 Pacifica owners. Chrysler should absolutely recall the motor mounts on this vehicle and provide a more reliable replacement motor mount with a robust design at no charge to all Pacifica owners. My wife has reported that she has almost been rear ended several times as a result of suddenly stalling while driving. To have this vehicle completely stall out while my wife is taking my 3 kids to school or other activities could cause a crash and is potentially life threatening. I just want this issue to be resolved. The Pacifica is a well designed car and we love the interior but we need reliable transportation.

18 Software problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 06/07/2011

Since I purchased my vehicle the front low beam lights have went out numerous times while driving at night. I have had them replaced on several occasions and the problem persists. Recently I have had problems with my battery and was told by pepboys auto shop that something is draining the battery and its possibility is the exterior lighting/headlamps. Even though I continue to replace the headlamps they keep going out and my battery is being drained. After 2 batteries in 3 years I had the alternator checked and it was in good condition. I was told to look up a recall list where I found exterior lighting 05v066000 and I called. I also have had a fuel pump problem that seems to exist and no one can figure out way. After getting it fixed by the Chrysler dealership twice my vehicle will not pass smog because of another leak. I also found out that there are complaints of some similar issues fuel pump/powertrain control module software 06v432000 and I called. Please put these to issues on the recall list so that auto owners will be safe on the road and California's air will not be polluted by the fumes.
