1 Wiring problem of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/03/2025

On [xxx], I was driving uphill on the interstate at around 70 mph on gas power (hybrid battery was discharged) and warning came up "stop safely vehicle will shut down soon" and lost power (limp mode). I was able to move safely to the shoulder, but with 5 passengers (3 young kids) and a dog and a full load of camping gear it was a bit nervewracking. Could not get the car started again (stayed in limp mode) and used an obdii scanner I had which popped up error code (p0a43 - "intermittent issue with the drive motor "a" position sensor"). The vehicle was towed to the dealer ( 4 hours from home) and after a few days they said the vehicle was fixed and I pushed for them to test drive it on the interstate. Was returned with this comment: " found codes for drive motor "a" position sensor circuit intermittent and hybrid battery pack state of charge low. Checked trans plug and wiring verified operating correctly. Found that resolver needs to have relearn preformed. Preformed relearn on resolver and charged hybrid battery. Test drove vehicle on interstate and verified that issue did not return. Vehicle operating as designed. " I received a notice of an unlimited mile/year warranty on the transmission for this car, and from what I read on the internet, this is a recurrent issue with a known cause. We were able to get off the road safely in this case, but it is nerve-wracking to drive, especially with my family, in the current state. This is related to an open NHTSA investigation: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Wiring problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/12/2020

The back up camera only works intermittently. Sometimes the screens flickers as if it is shortening out. Other times the screen freezes, displaying the initial scene behind the vehicle for the duration of the vehicle being in reverse. Sometimes the screen is blank with only the guiding lines visible and other times it is completely blank with a statement at the top stating the back up camera is unavailable. This is a major concern for us due to having small children, going to the school, playground, etc. The dealership said they could replace the camera for $400 but the issue seems to be a short in the wiring somewhere. As the camera sometimes works. One of the pictures attached show the camera frozen with a white vehicle on the back up screen. The white vehicle that is displayed is actually in front of the van at the time of the picture. This is a screen shot from a video.

3 Wiring problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

4 Wiring problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

When I was driving the car I notices that the monitor screen didnt turn on for 10 seconds after I started the car. The backup camera was blurry and the auto start stop system stopped working all together. The next morning when I went to start car the engine wouldnt start. The screen came on the light came on but the engine didnt start. I had to get the car towed to the dealership and the car wouldnt roll when it was put on neutral. I am being told there might be problems with the wiring and electricity. I saw there was a recall about this but my car didnt have a recall. The dealership is going to charge me insane amount of money to get this fixed. I've only had this car for a year and a half and I bought it to the service shop for more than I could count. This is supposed to be a new car with minimal to no problems. Im starting to get disappointed.

5 Wiring problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/23/2019

I live in new york city and have had my Chrysler Pacifica phev for just over a year. About 6 months ago, I had (more) electrical problems causing the check engine light to be constantly illuminated. I took it to the dealer and the dealer found that my engine wiring had been chewed presumably by squirrels. They kindly patched up what they could find and sent me on my way. The check engine light came on shortly after that, just before a long vacation. I brought it back to the dealer today and without any pretext, the intake specialist said, as if it were common industry knowledge, that "the wire insulation is soy-based plastic and that's why squirrels like to eat it. " if this is the case and the fact is that a manufacturer is producing vehicles that within the industry are known to attract vermin, this must be inspected. I'm driving a car with giant lithium batteries, which if shorted could easily cause fire and death. Please don't let this go unaddressed.

6 Wiring problem of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/17/2019

Touch screen is not turning on. I have started my vehicle a few different times hoping will come back on, but no luck. Unable to get to any of the functions including backup came does not come on with is a safety issue in accordance, "the u. S. National highway traffic safety administration announced that it would require all automobiles sold in the united states built beginning in may 2018 to include backup cameras. " unable to use any of the climate controls, heated seats or vented seats, radio, uconnect etc. . All features unable to use do to black screen. This vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times with multiple screen swaps and continues to happen. I was told by the dealership humidity causes the screen to go black or not work. I addition, I have notified the dealership when changing out the screen please change all wiring harness. I do not know if this was ever completed or not. There is a short somewhere and without back up cam working it is a major safety issue. I will be driving and the screen will go blank. This has been on going for over a year since 2019.

8 Wiring problem of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

I purchased a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica in October 2016 and it has given me nothing but problems ever since then. Within the first year I took the vehicle back to the dealership multiple time for a wide range of issues 1. The main issue was a hesitation in acceleration (this problem is ongoing) each time we took it in they said that because they couldn't duplicate the problem they couldn't diagnose it, but when we got it home the problem always came back. It just continued to get worse, the warranty we purchased ran out and the vehicle ended up getting towed multiple times for repairs for the fuel system at another dealership (because I lost confidence in the dealership of purchase). The fuel system problem is dangerous because it stalls, stops, and shuts off in traffic. 2. The passenger (right-rear) turn signal and reverse light (right) wiring had to be repaired and is now out again also very dangerous when people don't know you're turning right, we've almost been rear-ended several times due to not having a working rear signal. 3. The lift gate stopped working 4. The engine sounds rough like its ready to shut off. Most of these issues were reported and/or repaired while the vehicle was still under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired all of the cost are my responsibility. A loaner car is no longer an option so I have to pay for rentals or miss work. Copies of the many roadside calls and tows attached.

In addition, while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,135.

10 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

Purchased the car Aug, 2014. Previous owner also had same issues. Has been in shop several times, unable to pinpoint cause/remedy situation. Seat controls do not work, remote keyfobs do not work, interior lights, head lamps, no electrical function present unless key is in ignition, in the "on" position. When shutting off the car, all lights on the dashboard light up and the only way to shut them off is to push on and then off the hazard lights. This will cause all electrical to go out, including the head lamps and all interior lights. If you do not turn them off by using the hazard lights, it will kill the battery. We have replaced the fuses in for the seats several times. They work for a bit and then blow out again. The mechanics have gone as far as to replace the wiring assembly and still no remedy. I don't know how there is not a recall on this vehicle.

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

2005 Chrysler Pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to engine and headlight problems. The consumer stated the vehicle stalled twice, within the last 3 years. Both times, he was making a hard turn, when the engine stopped. He wa able to maintain control of the vehicle and re-started it, without any problem. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic, who found nothing wrong, other than throttle body build-up, which he cleaned. Also, the headlight would intermittently go out. The bulb did not seem to fit securely in the harness, which caused a short and eventually the bulb blew out. The problem seemed to be more prominent on the passenger side. The driver's side bulb was less than an ideal fit, but there were no problems with it going out. The bulb was replaced numerous times, along with the wiring harness.

14 Wiring problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 04/24/2012

This vehicle has suffered through a wide variety of problems as outlined from online complaint boards. Today has started sudden acceleration while stopped at traffic lights almost taking me into traffic your investigation on these are closed but I never had satisfaction speaking to Chrysler officials and was informed by my dealer a couple of years ago that the vehicle was made by the ;old; company and the new company does not honor problems. What is disturbing is that a close inspection by me has revealed that the wiring harness going to the control computer was routed under the drivers side flexible motor mount and the harness has been damaged by the mount compressing this harness right on top of a bolt on the frame causing fraying of several control wires . The poor design has indeed created most of the problems with the vehicle and could cause wrecks and perhaps even deaths. Chrysler has informed me they do not accept suggestions from the public but for the safety of the citizens still driving these vehicles,I see a lot on the road, please contact them as to this problem which while not covered under their warranty should be as this flaw only shows up with mileage. The wiring harness has not been priced by me yet but if past experience is the guide Chrysler parts are significantly higher than competitors, even if the last 'genuine' part had product of south korea right on the box. The problem is poor design.

15 Wiring problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 02/22/2011

I bought my 2004 crys. Pacifica 2 months ago from a carlot. I test drove it and it was driving really good. I paid for it and pulled off the lot and it started trying to stall on my everytime I pushed the gas it would do it then stop for about a min then start again. It would jerk as it was trying to stall I finally made it home and called the carlot and they said to take it to their car shop so on my way there I stopped at autozone and hooked it up to their computer to see what it was that was messing up. The computer "said" it was the crank sensor. So we took it to the shop and they changed the crank sensor and the motor light went off and it stopped doing it. They had it for a week and that next Friday when I got it back I drove it to pay a couple bills and it started it again it did it about 12 times untill it finally stalled and would start back up but stall right away untill it would not even start again. I left it in that spot and my husband come and picked me and my 3 kids up and the next day the shop said to bring it back to them and my husband went to pick it upp and take it to the shop and it started right up and drove home no problem but the check engine light was still on then drove it to the shop and it done it 2 more times. The shop had it for another week and changed the crank sensor agian and found out the motor mount was broke to and fixed that. I got the car back again and had it for 2 days and it started doing it again. Took it to another shop and the shop said that it could be all the wiring harness and said it would cost me 3,000!!!!!!!! to fix I can not afford that so here I am only 2 months from buying a 10,000 dollar car that I can not drive this is terrible and something needs to be done about this happening to the same kind of cars alllll the time I am a mother of 3 and going to school and working I need my car.

16 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

2005 Chrysler Pacifica. Right headlight will quit with no warning, then will come back on its own accord. Dealer checked for previous reports of problem and found none. Mechanic said the harness comes loose and must be reseated. No easy task since it is under the breather tube and difficult to get to. Also, left rear turn signal will quit working then come back on. Wiring harness seems to be intact so other option would be bulbs (2). However, if they are bad, why does the signal restore itself? dealer had no answer for that mystery either. Problem started mid-summer 2008 and has continued intermittently ever since.

17 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/23/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving 65 mph, the fuel gauge went from half a tank to empty. The contact stated that the vehicle would not accept fuel. The check engine light illuminated and the headlights were inoperable. The dealer stated that the fuel pump and wiring harness caused the failures. The fuel pump, headlight bulb, and the wiring harness were replaced; however, the failures continued. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 05v066000 (exterior lighting: headlights) and NHTSA campaign id number 06v432000 (powertrain: automatic transmission control module (tcm, pcm)). The failure mileage was 68,000 and current mileage was 69,000. Updated 03/14/08. The consumer stated the fuel gauge was not reading properly.

18 Wiring problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 11/13/2007

My car has completely shut off on me on 4 different occasions. The first time the dealership said it was a fuel line problem and cleaned the fuel line system. The second time the problem happened, leaving me stranded on the side of the road again, the dealership changed a sensor. The 3rd time, same scenario, the dealership told me that they 2nd occasion the "computer" gave them a fault, but the first time it didn't so they fixed what they "thought" the problem could be. On the 3rd occasion, they told me that when the 2nd event happened it gave them a fault that could have meant that one of two sensors had gone bad. They said that if the car was under warranty they would have just replaced both sensors. Since the car was out of warranty, they just replaced the one "that usually goes bad. " so on my 3rd trip to the dealership, they replaced the second sensor and of course I had to pay for the labor again. The parts themselves cost $20 each and if asked the first time if I wanted to replace both sensors like they would for a warranty repair, I would certainly had agreed. My 4th event happened 4 weeks ago. My car is still at dealership I type this. They say they have no idea what is wrong with the car, but that they can tear the car apart and check out the wiring and if that's the problem, it will cost $6000 to fix. Just to diagnosis the problem I have to pay a minimum of $240 which they tell me may not diagnosis the problem at all. I feel that this vehicle is a huge safety hazard. It only has 30,000 miles on it and has given me nothing but trouble since I purchased it as the second owner on February 28, 2007. The car just shuts off while driving each time leaving me stranded with my 2 young children where ever we are. Each time I have had to wait for a tow truck to arrive to take us to safety. I hope that others have this same complaint and that Chrysler will do something to make this right.

19 Wiring problem of the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/09/2007

Due to surrounding highway traffic speed and conditions, forced to hit a large breed dog in roadway, dog ran off, vehicle shut down, dead vehicle "coasted/steered" off roadway to shoulder, towed to dealer, "wiring connector at pcm came apart," no significant vehicle body damage. Concerned about subsequent wiring vulnerability regarding roadway debris and vehicle shutting down on the highway.

20 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/24/2006

: the contact stated at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted each time. The dealership replaced the ignition system, checked computer codes, and evaluated wiring harness, but the problem persisted.

21 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Vehicle shut off during left turn in busy intersection and narrowly avoided accident. Dealer notified right away and appointment made. Reluctant to even drive to dealer because of safety issue.

22 Wiring problem of the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 12/03/2005

Car burst into fire, after shut down, causing the loss of two automobiles and home. Origin of fire was determined to be a 2005 Chrysler pacific that had just recently been serviced for a head light wiring recall.

23 Wiring problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 10/27/2004

My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica had a fire in the rear side wall on the driver's side. The car was parked and unoccupied when this happened. I contacted Chrysler and an investigator was sent. The investigator told me the "hottest part" or starting point for the fire seems to be in or around the rear of the motor for the rear wiper blades which was inside the side wall of the car. I received a form letter from Chrysler stating the report was inconclusive and they have no liability. I do not agree with their report and have requested a copy of their investigator's report which they have refused to send. The is no way this fire and damaged caused by this fire was anything other than a defect or problem with either wiring or a motor inside the side wall of the car.

24 Wiring problem of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

Failure Date: 09/21/2003
