Car loses power while diving. Lose engine power, brakes, power steering. Last instance was while driving 45 mph.
While driving van completely shut off no power no motor no steering. Van continued to turn on an off lights turned on an off on there own. This happened multiple times had problem fixed just to completely died again same issues. This van has cost me alot in repairs and rentals an tows it is not safe for me to drive with my kids knowing it can shut off while driving with out warning at anytime .
Since purchase, the vehicle has had multiple erratic no starts, caution lights illuminate, wipers activate, horn sound off, and an array of other electrical bugs. After taking the vehicle to the dealership multiple times with could not duplicate actions, I was told that the floor mat was sticking under the pedal contacting a sensor causing the no start issues, which is documented on their service report. Since then, we have dealt with the issues as they were sporadic. Now, the no start condition has led to the replacement of the tipm unit as well as 2 fuel pumps. It was towed today for the same faulty conditions that led to the expensive repairs. While we have had issues with intermittent electrical bugs while moving, the majority of our issues have involved no movement as the most common issue is the no start condition. My vehicle has been in the shop the last 3 weeks, required two tows, and is continuously burning up fuel pumps. Chrysler has not modified/re-engineered their tipm unit according to the dealership as the part number has never changed. I am concerned that I have another faulty tipm module causing damage to my vehicle, which has decreased the reliability. All of my receipts are in the glove box of the vehicle which is sitting at the dealership, so I cannot upload the documents showing the repairs right now.
Vehicle completely shuts off while driving, and you have no control. It has occurred twice in this month (1/5/19 & 1/10/19), and both times it has created an extremely dangerous condition, for each time I was driving on city streets. Each time it has happened at low speeds. The motor also has a constant jerking feeling at lower speeds.
As I drive down the street and hit a bump or uneven surface the van shuts off and I lose all steering power and electrical power. This is very frightening because it could happen in the middle of a street or freeway going 60+ miles per hour.
On the driveng the traction control light come on the steering went out and brkes went out I can not control anything.
It began with the front wipers coming on (as if it was raining) on a sunny day. . And the switch wouldn't shut it off. Have to pull the fuse to get them to stop. Then this progressed into not cranking, as if dead battery. I believe my problem is in the keyless switch. . As the battery is new, and I've had both battery and alternator checked. Both ok!.
When driving, the engine switch turns off without warning while driving on a street. This is very dangerous. There is a recall with selected VIN numbers with this issue but not ours. The recall is Chrysler recall r03 (formerly l25). We would like our VIN number to be added to the recall list.
The engine stops at low speeds, never at highway speeds, not always but three times in the last 2 weeks, I have to restart the engine, this could cause an accident.
My van caught on fire only driving it less than 5 minutes away from my house. Fire department and cops had to come and put it out.
While driving, the engine cut out and I lost power to steering and brakes. The traction control light then came on when I finally pulled over. After resetting, the vehicle started and drove normally. If this happened on a busy road, serious injury would have occurred to the passengers in my vehicle and anyone else I would have struck due to loss of control.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving 70 mph, the engine seized without warning. When the contact pulled over, turned off, and restarted the engine, it resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to mullen motors inc (55980 main road, southold, new york 11971, (631) 765-3564) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred multiple times. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 11v139000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
The van will lose all power no matter the speed. This has happened on numerous occasions within the past year. Will have to stop turn van off, then restart. Sometimes takes longer than others but has restarted and will happen again after a little while for no reason. This needs to be fixed before something more serious happens. Please fix this. My families life does matter and so does others>>>. . . .
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to (hendersonville Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram located 401 duncan hill rd, hendersonville, nc) where the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 96,000. The VIN was not available.
The car goes from the "run" position to the "accessory" position all by itself while driving on streets. When that happens you have no power steering or brakes and the engine turns off. Since you have no steering or brakes, you can't control the car or stop it. Very dangerous/ life threatening. There was a recall for this on 2010 Town & Country's, but they tell me that my car is 4 months outside of that recall. So they know it was an issue and still is.
While driving the car in town it has now (3rd time) randomly shut off. It has happen while going anywhere from 10-40 mph. The traction light flashes for a quick second and then you lose all power. This includes the breaks and steering. Was able to coast to the side of the road. Put the car in park and start the car back up and it has run fine. It has become more frequent recently and is a very serious situation as we have avoided an accident twice with other cars around us almost hitting us. This should be recalled as I have read over 200 different reports on various sites. We took to a dealer and they were not able to get a code to pin point what is wrong. I have heard the erg valve was replaced on some and it has solve this issue. If Chrysler doesn't want to look into this reoccurring problem it is horrible. I hope a death doesn't have to occur before they look into this.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was able to be restarted and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to two local dealers: autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram north richland hills (7740 ne loop 820, fort worth, (817) 522-4981) and autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram north forth worth (11200 north freeway, forth worth, (817) 642-7894) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 154,000. The VIN was not available.
Randomly loses power, sometimes a split second, other times a complete shut down and doesn't let key go. Sometimes it causes things to stop working, like cruise control. More often when lights are on and other things used, like a/c or turn signals. Sometimes when only lights are used, and sometimes lights not even on.
First problem is the drivers side back door does not open. It stopped working electronically and manually as well as the window. The lights on the dash flicker off and on, radio turns on and off, the van door dings, and it dies while slowing down or even when driving. It happens in town or on the highway.
2010 town and country engine died when in motion going around 35 mph also died when coming to a stop at stop light. The electronic stability control light went on when engine cut off. Loss of power steering and power brakes. Was able to put it in park and restart.
Car engine dies making brakes gas pedal and steering go out! car complaints. Com has a report on this problem?! directed me to this website. Please help fear for mine and kids safety driving this vehicle under these circumstances! we were driving while this took place.
While driving the van it randomly shuts down the engine and it is very difficult to steer. You cannot accelerate out of the path of traffic. This is extremely dangerous!.
The last two days in a row, my van has shut off while I was in the first 2 minutes of driving it in the morning, going about 25 miles an hour in a residential neighborhood. The first time it happened right after I turned right at a stopped sign. The second time I had just gone over a speed hump (slowly). The engine totally shut down while still in drive. I braked (without power) to a stop, put the van in park, turned the key off, and then restarted the van. No problems after restart. Restarted just fine. But this has happened two days in a row. This seems like it could be extremely dangerous!.
Van fails to start or even turn over. Happens without previous warning. When key is turned, only a short crank of the engine occurs and nothing else. Typically lasts between 15 minutes to 2 hours before vehicle will start. This has been happening since vehicle was new. Estimate occurrence between 12-18 times. Win module replaced under warranty and tipm flashed numerous times. Starting to occur more frequently in the past 6 months, approximately once a month. Everything else electrically works in vehicle when this occurs, including power doors, windows, etc. Vehicle is stopped and there is no pattern to length of time sitting, angle parked at, or anything. Has happened in garage, parking lots, and most recently in car wash.
The engine of my 2010 Chrysler town and country shut off while traveling on the highway at a speed of approximately 60mph. It has happened two other times at lower speeds while in town. The issue left me and my family in danger of a highway collision. This problem appears to be with the ignition switch spontaneously dropping into accessory mode which matches a recall for the same issue in other town and country's very close to the date of manufacture of mine. That recall was 14v373. My van was manufactured four months after the recall window relating to the ignition switch issue which subsequently disables the airbags and other safety equipment. The specific part that was the issue in 14v373 and what I believe to be the issue here is the win module.
2010 Chrysler Town & Country completely shuts off while driving, rpms dropped below 1 and power steering completely gone. Took car to my mechanic was told win module, towed car to local Chrysler dealer and paid diagnostic fee after being told that recall had already been completed, only to be told by dealer that fuel pump bad and battery needs to be charged. I am doubting the fuel pump would cause car to completely shut down. This is very unsafe and could have been potentially fatal as I had my young children in the car and was seconds away from heading over a big bridge.
At a slow speed of about 5 to 10 mph, my vehicle would shut off leaving me with no power brakes, power steering, and in the path of cars behind me almost hitting me as well. It always happens when I am turning left or right at a slow speed. I have had the wireless ignition control module, battery, and key fob replaced already by the dealer.
When I begin to drive my vehicle within the first few hundred feet or minute of driving the vehicle will shut off completely. Once the vehicle comes to a complete stop I can restart it after the second attempt. I am usually on a city street but heading towards a major highway (garden state parkway or rt 1 or rt 18). I have invoices however the 3 different service stations they are not able to duplicate at the car dealerships service station. This vehicle shutting off at will has been happening since February 2017. Again it is not consistent, I never know when it will happen. This is a safety issue putting myself and my family at risk.
The vehicle has shut off on us 3 times while driving. All power is lost and we nearly had major accidents in 2 cases. We contacted Chrysler, case #31401025, but they are unwilling to assist. They don't believe killing innocent people is their responsibility. We have had all the recall work done on this vehicle, and they allegedly "fixed" this problem before the third incident this morning. This vehicle is a hazard to my family and to the public and Chrysler is unwilling to do anything about it. I will never feel safe in this vehicle and I want them to pay me to take it off the road. The government also needs to issue another recall.
My 2010 town and country shut off while driving without a warning it almost cause me and my kids to be in a accident this morning taking my kids to school please something needs to be done about this problem before someone gets hurt or worse.
Engine shuts down while I am driving. There is no pattern to when it shuts down. The stabilizer light goes on, then power steering fails, breaks do not respond. This happens all the time and Chrysler can not fix it. I am looking for more information on this but can not find where in your database to look please send a link.
While driving the car randomly shuts off. The esp light comes on, I loose most steering and brake function. Likely do to the loss of power. The Chrysler dealer can not find the cause. So far, this has happened at low speeds (25mph) and on city streets. This is a new problem that started around 1/15/2017.
On 1/24/17 driving at about 25 miles per hour and coming to a stop, the traction control light came on even thought it was not raining, snowing, or icing. I then noticed the power steering and power brakes were not working. I realized the engine had shut down. I coasted to a stop on the other side of the road and luckily there were no cars coming the opposite direction. It started right back up and drove directly to the dealership. They looked at it and said they thought it was a new battery issue causing an issue with the computer. A mechanic looked at everything and could find no issues. No codes came back on the diagnostic. The mechanic reset the computer and said it was fixed. On 1/26/17 the same thing happened. Driving at about 25 mpg and coming to a stop light the engine again shut off and I lost power steering and brakes. I turned the key and it started up again. I drove home and called Chrysler. The rep said not enough complaints had been issued to warrant a recall. This is a severe safety concern with the car shutting off while driving. The safety of my children and my husband are at risk when driving this vehicle. The van has just over 85,000 miles.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. On multiple occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. After restarting the engine, the vehicle would operate normally. The vehicle was taken to landmark Chrysler (6850 mount zion blvd, morrow, GA), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000.
During drivining (typically city speeds of ~30-45mph), without warning or notification the engine will shut off and you will lose all power stearing and braking is seriously deminished. It has happened once on the highway at ~65mph that I am aware of). When this happens the only indication you get is the red traction control light on the dashboard. It can happen while turning, driving straight, curves, etc. In order to gain engine power and the ability to stear, the only fix action is to place the vehicle in neutral and turn the key to restart. It will not just restart in "drive". We have taken this vehicle to the dealership 4+ times in order to diagnose and fix. . . To which we have been told "there is nothing showing up on diagnoses", "sounds like it could be x, but it's $1500 to replace and we can't guarentee it will fix it". We have made sure that it is not visably realated to the ignition issue noted on some other same year/model vehicles. . . Although it cannot be 100% ruled out as somehow related. I have done research on Chrysler webforums and this issue has been noted by multiple other owners (ie. . Read more...
