My vehicle shutsdown intermittently right after starting it either remotely or via the key. This tends to happen after the vehicle sits for a bit. The traction control light comes on and the car shuts down - no power steering etc. I just bought this vehicle and have not replaced anything yet. A google search indicates this is a common issue. Any help or direction to resolve the issue would help.
I was driving yesterday with my 3 kids and the van shutdown without warning at highway speeds. It became a very dangerous event since we did not have breaking and very difficult to steer. After, getting to the shoulder, the vehicle would not start again, although it had a full tank of fuel. The key gets stuck in the on position. And it lock the starter in the ignition phase as if I was holding the key on after the car starts. I cycled the key and noticed that if I held it right, it would not lock the starter in the starting position. However, it would not turn on. I saw there were recalls on this vehicle and one about the ignition.
Traveling around a curve on city street dry pavement at 25mph , without warning all power , steering control, brakes gone. Entire car shut down while in motion, ran off road, no brake control, by the grace of god , I nor anyone else was killed or seriously injured. When car came to complete stop on its own before hitting someones house, I could put car in park and restart. Now afraid to drive that van.

Last night our van just shut down driving down the road so I had no power steering or brakes. Looking into the problem on the internet I discover that this is a common problem with the town and country. And this isn't the first time this has happened to us. It always happens in motion. This is probably the third or fourth time it has happened. Checked the VIN for any recalls and had no recalls come up. Now I'm furious that Chrysler does not want help anyone with the problem. This is my wife's main vehicle and hauls our 3 kids in it. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed. I have owned several Chrysler vehicles over the years. I financially can't go buy another brand of vehicle at the drop of a hat, but I will get rid of this problem as soon as I can and go out of my way to discourage anyone from buying Chrysler. I don't care if they go out of business. Obviously the people at Chrysler don't drive their own product or this wouldn't be an issue anymore.
Engine shuts off while driving in motion, numerous time over the years it's happened while driving on the streets and on highway.
While driving the vehicle the van shuts down. No warning or signal. Just shut off. Then restarts after turning the key.
In attempting to turn north on to route 29 from the kroger gas station in chilicothe, IL the vehicle entirely shut down when partially through the turn. The lighting turned off, the engine shut down, and power steering did not operate. I was able to shift the vehicle into neutral, and attempted to the vehicle. It started but instantaneously shut down again. I attempted once more and it started and I quickly shifted into drive to avoid being struck by another vehicle on the 2 lane roadway.
I experienced the following issue which is addressed in a recall however, my vehicle was not included in the recall. I replaced the part, out of pocket, and am attempting to recoup the cost. I took the van to a Dodge/Chrysler dealership and the van showed no codes, etc to indicate the issue. I simply went out on a limb to guess if this was the problem. I have receipts showing purchase for the repair. This should be covered. My family was in danger every time we drove and Chrysler refused to do anything about it!!!! the new win module solved the issue and it has not stalled once since the new one installed! While driving the van will just shut off/stall with no warning. Which then locks the steering even if in the middle of turning. Its very dangerous. We have taken it to the mechanic multiple times but they cant figure what the issue is because whatever it is is not throwing a code. It happens every time its driven.

Van will just shut off while driving. No warning, no lights. Have had the recall fixed twice but problem still hasn't stopped. Doesn't it doesn't matter if the van is cold or warm or what speed. It has done it on the freeway at 70mph. Dealer can not get it to duplicate the problem had if for 3 weeks in the shop. I can not keep driving this vehicle if no one can find what is wrong. Chrysler built the car why can't they find out what's wrong.
Shuts down randomly while driving and loses power steering, difficult to stop. Occurs in any condition or speed. Sometimes traction control warning light comes on right beforehand. Inability to control vehicle after engine shutdown. Has occurred when driving straight and when turning. Has occurred at low speed and high speed. Has occurred on city streets and highways. I just chose one date but it has happened numerous times. There have been multiple near misses of crashing or being hit while vehicle.
Engine shuts off while driving. Dashboard lights still work but driver is unable to steer and car is very difficult to stop. Will restart once in park. Vehicle was going 30mph on a city street. All recall repairs have been performed. This has happened multiple times. Dealership nor local shops can determine what is causing the issue.
The engine shut off without warning while driving at 35 miles per hour, driving in a straight line, not turning, on city street. The engine was running smoothly until it quit. After rolling to a stop, I was able to put the car in park and restart the engine. It ran smoothly without problem until I reached my destination about 20 miles away.

My wife was backing out of a driveway, the engine shut off and the power brakes and power steering didn't work. The vehicle drifted into the road because she was unable to stop in time. There were no other cars involved in the incident.
Vehicle started having issues in 2014. Vehicle just would not crank one morning. Got a jump start and took it to autozone and got a new battery. About 3 months later the same thing happened. Got a jump start, went to autozone and they found nothing wrong with battery, alternator or starter. Autozone gave me a new battery anyway. About 4 months later, happened again. Brought vehicle to Chrysler for win module recall fix and explained what was happening. They said handling the recall and a new battery should fix the problem. About 2 months later, had the same problem. Chrysler replace win module again and I got Chrysler to replace battery at this time as I explained that the battery was being affected due to the part that was being recalled. All was fine for about a year or so and then started happening again. Brought it back to Chrysler and they said battery had a dead cell. I explained that they had just put the battery in about a year ago and it should be under warranty. They told me, "we don't do warranty replacements on warranty replacements". So, I am just dealing with the battery right now. Most recently, about 3 months ago, dash board warning lights started all coming in at the same time. Then they would all go off and one side of the dash illumination would go out. Next start up, illumination would be fine again. This happened several times over a couple of months. Then, one day while driving, the power steering went out, the traction light came on and the vehicle shut off! was able to put vehicle in neutral and restart. This happened a few times in a month, but was always ok after one restart. Now, it keeps happening and only lasts a few minutes before needing to be restarted again. Afraid that this is going to happen while turning across oncoming traffic or in a situation where we can not pull over to safety and will get rear-ended.
Engine shuts off while in motion in drive mode. This happens at any rate of speed, 70 mph to 10 mph, in good weather conditions, on the highway and local streets, driving straight or turning slightly. The abs module tested bad 9 months ago and was replaced by auto electric specialists of houston. This did not solve the problem. I have not had the ecm replaced. My Chrysler dealership cannot find the problem and has told me to keep driving and to bring the car in right away if the issue happens again. The car scares me!!! it has shut off three times now in the last year. I wonder if this is the same problem that has now been reported with the 2017 Chrysler pacifica?.
This vehicle experiences intermittent engine shut off with no warning. There is no indication on the dashboard prior to this happening. The vehicle is always in motion and it seems to happen at slower speeds. It starts up immediately after this happens. This problem is described in safety recall l25. I've contacted Chrysler and they tell me that my vehicle is not part of the recall. I've had it examined by a dealer and they were not able to recreate the problem. This has happened multiple times over the last 6 months. Most recently it happened on 3/13/2017 and 3/12/2017. The vehicle is currently in the dealership's service department. My wife and daughter will not drive the vehicle due to safety concerns.
On several occasions now, while in motion usually under 15 mph and slight downgrade, usually when cold. Although it did happen once at 40 mph and another time when engine was warm. The vehicle totally losses power, engine shuts off but the traction control light comes on. Radio and everything else continue to work. Put car in neutral or park and restart. Seems ok after that. It has been getting progressively worse. Feel it very dangerous. My mechanic said the vehicle has no codes so he doesn't know what it is.
While driving the vehicle, always under 40mph, the traction control light comes on, I lose power steering, the engine shuts down, all lights and radio is down. So far I have been able to put it in neutral and restart. This morning I hit a curb going around the round about taking my kids to school. This has been going on over a year. It doesn't matter if its cold or hot, raining or sunny. It will go a month with nothing and then in one day it will die 6 times. We have been to private mechanics we have been to two different Chrysler dealers and they have checked the erg valve and the key fob, the ignition switch, they have check the battery, ran down all the electrical stuff, they had it for 2 days last week and couldn't figure it out. It's died on my 4 times this week. I have four kids and I'm always in the van and now I'm scared to drive it! we checked the VIN and there is no recall as we already did the vent window. But the recalls that are listed describe exactly what is happening. So Chrysler knows and doesn't care! you cannot just recall certain batches when there are clearly other vehicles doing the same problem. What is Chrysler prepared to do for a family when they are seriously injured in an accident because of their van! can't trade it in. Don't have the money to take the loss, wtf are consumers supposed to do with these vans. We are the original owners of the 2010 t&c, I love this van but it scares me to death! I just want it fixed! I mean I love roller coasters too but if one kept going off the tracks I'm not damn sure I wouldn't ride it or put my family on it. Please Chrysler fix these cars!.
Vehicle randomly shuts off while driving. I was driving during the day, straight, on a city street. Vehicle turned of and I lost all breaks and power steering. I took it to a dealership and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong. I have 5 kids and can't be using a vehicle that may or may not just shut off while driving.
On many different occasions, my 2010 Chrysler town and country will shut off while driving. All of the warning lights illuminate on my dashboard, the power steering shuts off, and the engine shuts off. I must coast to the side of the road, without power steering, and turn the key to the off position. Then, I must restart the vehicle. It always restarts, but this happens about once every 2 weeks. After reading the recall details of the 2017 Chrysler pacificas, the description of the problem matches the problems I am having. My mechanic has inspected my van, but he cannot diagnose any problem unless he, himself, experiences and witnesses the stalling occur. Problem happens while in motion. It has happened slowly in a parking lot, and it has happened at 55 mph on a highway.
Several ignition problems and engine shutoff while driving. Often key is turned and vehicle does not start no accessory nothing. And twice while driving engine quit both times on city street. The date given below will be the latest of these incidents.
Engine shut off will driving seems to be no pattern cause having to find place to pull over and restart the engine it happens alot.
Vehicle engine shut down while driving in a parking lot preparing to pull onto a 4 lane busy county road, all of the systems other then brakes failing. It was not the key as it remained in the on position never moving. Only happens after using the remote starter. We have since stoped using the remote starter after the 3rd time the issue happened. Past issues. Etc inop. Car would not accelerate past idle today car will not turn over starter will not even click clock losses time intermittent and then we have electrical issues. I guess its Chryslers warning system telling the owner the car is not going to be working in the next 2-3 days head lights occasionaly will not turn on and some times will not turn off car has been into the dealer 8 times for electrical issues and every time they tell me they cannot reproduce the problem and send us on our way after reprogramming the main computer. Every time it apparently is a seperate electrical component. At least that is what they tell us. However it seams to me the computer for the car must be bad and or the software/ programing is severly flawed since it keeps failing. I think Chrysler is pulling a vw scam on the government and its consumers. Fix the problem. We have had nothing but problems since the first month we owned this at the time brand new car. Been in the shop 3 times in the first 6 months for electrical malfunctions and intermittently ever since.
Was driving our 2010 Chrysler town and country straight down the road in our housing plan when the engine shut off. All of the electronics in the car still operated but, there was no power steering or brakes. Had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road to stop. The vehicle ended up stopping on a hill but, without the brakes it started to drift backwards. At this point the emergency brake was pushed to get the vehicle to stop. This happened the very next day as well. Luckily we were not driving down the highway as my 3 children in the vehicle. This could be deadly if driving at 60 mph down the highway.
The vehicle loses power when driving at highway speeds as shown by a severe reduction in rpm's--sometimes, as in this incident, the vehicle shuts off (stalls) without warning, which results in loss of power steering and brakes and is a dangerous safety situation in highway traffic especially. We have complained about this issue once before in may, 2015. There is a Chrysler recall for this exact defect; however, we are being told that our particular vehicle, based on VIN number, is not part of the recall, despite it being the model year (2010) and manufacture time range (Jan 2007 to June 2010) that are cited in the recall notices on the NHTSA saftercars. Gov site.
Vehicle shut off while coasting down our asphalt driveway. Key fob was not bumped and we have no other keys attached to the fob.
The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving various speeds, the engine shut off. The vehicle was pulled over and restarted. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition key needed to be replaced. The failure was not remedied. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
After getting hung up in traffic on I-395 in washington d. C. , the engine shut off when I was going about 15 mph. There were tons of people behind me and by the grace of god we did not get hit. This continues to happen. I have had several components replaced but the problem still persists. I have seen complaints about this issue on several websites with no solution.
