Vehicle shuts off without warning during operation. After driving for about 3. 5 miles vehicle shut off in the middle of a left hand turn through an intersection. Radio remains on, but engine, power steering, power brakes stop working, traction control dash light illuminates. Electronic key appears to still be in the run position, and the vehicle can be restarted by shifting to neutral and turning key to off position and back to start. Has happen multiple times, taken to dealership and they were unable to identify a problem. Chrysler also refused to mention or acknowledge existing recall for what appears to be this exact problem because this vehicle was manufactured a few days outside the effective dates of the recall.

While driving the vehicle for the 2nd day after ownership (purchased used from Honda of bowie in bowie, MD) and we were leaving the parking lot on vacation when the car stopped. It was warmed up, it was working and then it just stopped while I was driving. My husband, and 3 kids (1 1/2, 3 months and 11 years old) were in the vehicle. Noone was behind us and we were able to get the car to start again. However, this was just the beginning of a series of shut-offs to come. Since that initial shut-off teh vehicle has stopped several times on the highway, in the neighborhood, while on the busy street of washington, DC, in the snow, in dry weather, raining, while on the road with cars behind me. . . And more. I am afraid for the safety of my family, myself and those other vehicles around me. When the car shuts off, the power steering stops and I immediately have to manually get the car to a safe position before I can restart the vehicle.

The engine just shuts off without warning. Sometimes it will restart immediately, sometimes it just cranks for a min, then kicks over and runs rough eventually smoothing out. We have noticed the key is rotating out of the on position, sometimes fully into acc, sometimes just a little out of on. 2 dealers have looked at it, but the computer doesn't log any codes and they cant replicate the issue, so the mechanics can't fix anything. This falls inline with the l25 recall issues. This van was built 2 weeks after the l25 recall stops. I have found the parts online for under $20 but cannot replace them as the computer needs programmed. This vehicle is dangerous to us and everyone else on the road around us as we have no power steering or power brakes.

Vehicle shut off, lost steering, brakes and all electrical, except for the stability control light which was illuminated. I was able to navigate to the side of the road. I was able to restart the car. This has happened several times since. Contacted Chrysler who said they had no info on any such problem.

The engine shutoff due to the ignition switch problem. We lost brakes, power steering, etc. My children were in the car with me. Luckily we had already slowed at a stop light in light traffic. We bought the 2010 town and country used. Now I know that it was subject to the l25 recall. However, the carfax when we bought it says that it was subject to no recall and despite multiple services at Chrysler dealers, the ignition switch repair was never made (according to the carfax history). At present, the technician at our Chrysler dealer says he will not repair the ignition switch because the recall is three years old.

Myself,my husband,& 3 young children were driving home at 45 mls an hour and the vehicle completely turned off. We lost power steering, power brakes and the engine shut off. We had to coast to a complete stop( thank god no one was behind us or around us) and put the van in park and it turned back on. So we started driving on, only to have the van shut off a second time while going uphill again at 45 mls per hour. The same things happened, power steering,power brakes and engine cutoff! again we were blessed that no one was around as there is no where to pull over! we put the van in park,it started back up and made it the one more mile home with no problem. We took the van to service center at the dealership ( we have bumper to bumper warranty) they kept the vehicle for almost 4 wks, while they had it, it shut down on them once but could not get the vans computer to "throw a code" to their computer. They wanted to give it back without doing anything to it, we asked that they at least address the recall issue of the win module (as this is described as exactly what was happening)they did this, however, the van has shut down on us two more times! they kept the van for a few days and replaced the win module again, although they still don't know for sure that it is the problem as my van will not " throw a code"! I now have a $400 a month van parked in my driveway and am in limbo until Chrysler corp gets back to me! I refuse to trust their "best guess" with my family and others lives on the road.

On multiple occasions vehicle shuts off resulting in-complete power failure. Power steering and brakes are gone to manual making it difficult to get off the road or stop. Vehicle was taken to dealership for ingition switch recall and a new one installed. A few months later same problem occured again several times. The only indicater light coming on is electronic stability light . Van restarts promptly when put in neutral. No other issues could be found, dealer was unable to duplicate shut off. This happend 4 times in 12 miles one night. This has always happened at lower speeds below 45 and at random times with no predictability. We really like the car especially the stow n go feature but this engine shuting off makes it unsafe to drive.

Twice my vehicle shut off while driving on a city road at approximately 35 mph. There were no dash warnings other than the electronic stability control icon was lit the first episode. The radio was working, all other dash lighting appeared normal for a car in operation. I had been driving about 20 minutes, so the car was not "cold". The first time, I did not even realize the car had stalled until I noticed it was losing speed and then found the car was not responding to the gas pedal. I coasted into the right lane and turned onto a side street (that's when I realized I had no power steering, no brakes, and the car was truly stalled). I continued coasting to a stop. I then put the car in park and attempted to restart it. It restarted immediately, running smoothly, so I continued on my way home wondering what could have caused it to die like that? less than a mile later, it stalled again! this time I put the car in neutral and while cruising/coasting turned the ignition key to start to try and re-start the car. I then put the transmission back into drive to see if it had restarted, and sure enough I was on my way again. No other indicators of an issue on the dash. It has not happened since. I went out on an errand later that evening and the episode did not repeat. I am quite nervous to take it on the interstate. My gosh! what if I had been on the interstate (75 mph speed limit) turning a curve, no power steering, slowing to a coast and panicked as to what was wrong? I have an appointment with a mechanic day after tomorrow, but unless a code was thrown indicating an error, it seems to be a somewhat isolated event, or at least intermittent event. Definitely seems to be a safety issue.

The engine will just shut off with absolutely no warning. The engine has been doing this for the past 2 months typically during the first 5-10 minutes we are driving and it has always been at speeds lower than 40 mph. We have gone as many as 6 days without any incident and as many days as 4 straight days of it happening (consecutively). The dealership was unable to "duplicate" this event and has told us that the system indicates no "error messages. ". Despite our lives being in significant danger every time we drive this vehicle, the dealership has indicated they can't do anything to help us! although our model year did have a recall, we were told that it didn't apply to our vehicle. (same symptoms as the recall. ).

This car shuts down of being driven about two hours. It shuts down at the end of a trip as I come into town and take my foot off of the gas. The dealership has test drove the car multiple times and they cannot find what the problem is. It is now apparent this is a much larger problem.

2010 Chrysler town and country my wife and I have been driving vehicle and multiple times over the last 6 months the vehicle stalls without warning. On one instance my wife was turning at an intersection when the car shut off unexpectedly and when this occurred the power steering stopped working and my wife nearly rolled into oncoming traffic. On another instance the vehicle stalled on me traveling down the freeway and I had to put the vehicle in neutral and start it again, when I did this it seemed like the car had to turn over for a few seconds before it would start up. We have 3 children and this is a very disturbing issue as it relates to safety. I would like to see Chryslers internal issue tracking on these items during launch of the vehicle because I have a relative a few years back who had a very similar issue with the Chrysler Jeep grand cherokee he owned. It seems to me that this is a bigger system issue with Chrysler as a whole. In addition to this safety I have multiple neusence issues with my vehicle from door locks that buzz, sliding door seals that are cut up as a result of improper installation of door, window edge seals that appear to have been too long but installed anyway and air leak sound result from poor worknmanship, rear power door that has stopped working,.

While driving at slower speeds, my 2010 Chrysler Town & Country will just shut down. Power steering is lost, engine is completely shut off. This has happened about 5 times over the past month. In all cases we have had to pull off the road (if we could), remove the key from the ignition, then restart the vehicle. We are fearful this will happen at a higher rate of speed and we will get in an accident. We took the vehicle to the dealership and the diagnostics test did not find anything. The technician has been driving the vehicle around for a couple of days to try and duplicate the situation with no success. We are not sure what to do from here as we are now very uncomfortable driving this vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

For the third time in the past month, the vehicle shutdown while traveling. In the most recent incident we were driving down an interstate when it shut off. The vehicle started back up after shifting to neutral and turning the ignition. There are numerous reports on the internet of this happening, but Chrysler says this particular VIN was not included in its 2011 recall for a faulty ignition (or any recall). We're concerned about the safety of a vehicle that shuts down for no reason while in motion.

Consistent with a current recall of 2010 Chrysler town and country vehicles, the engine will just shut off and stop running without warning while driving. The vehicle will lose power without warning, power steering and power brakes, although all battery functions will still operate. This has happened numerous times while driving. I have asked Chrysler service departments to look at the vehicle, but they tell me they can't find anything wrong. There is a recall that describes what I'm experiencing exactly, but according to Chrysler, my van is not a part of the recall and even if it was, there have not been replacement parts available for this recall for 2-3 years. This is completely irresponsible on Chrysler's part. This problem is serious and could easily result in a collision.

The car engine was running but I was stopped and the engine just shut off, I thought I hit the ignition key with my knee. I turned it back on and it shut off again, turned it back on and all ok. Early February the engine just stopped while wife was driving about 40 mph. , it happed twice more to her and two time to me, each time shortly after leaving home and going about 40 mph. Dealer charged $536 to fix receiver, trasmtr, & trim ring. Car engine has stopped twice since, been back to dealer twice and they found nothing wrong. There was a recall on the win module deten ring issued 6-16-11 and my car's was replaced on 7-29-11. The systems of engine shutting off were same with recall as happening now with our car and involed the fob area which we paid to have fixed and it isn't. We were told the VIN will show car not fixed so I can't even trade it in and it is still a danger to drive. Found people with similar complaint on edmonds. Com.

This is a rented vehicle from advantage rent a car phx. Model is 2010 Chrysler town and country van with az plate [xxx] (I did not get the VIN). I was driving on a surface street at approximately 30-35 mph when the van suddenly lost all power. The engine shut down, the instrument panel went completely dead (speedometer dropped to zero and all gauges went dark), the radio went dead, and power steering and braking were non-functional. I did not attempt to restart the vehicle while moving because the shifter positions are unmarked and the gear indicator along with the entire dash panel went dark. I was able to pull the vehicle on coasting power into a parking lot with great difficulty due to the lack of power steering and braking. Once I was safely stopped. I put the gear shift back into park, removed the electronic key fob, reinserted it and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle returned back to working order - the engine started and the all dash panel controls returned to normal operation. I consider this a very serious and potentially life threatening safety problem. If this same thing had happened to me the prior evening when I was driving down a steep winding mountain road at 70 mph at night with no road lighting, the consequences could have been deadly since I would have lost all vehicle lighting, instrumentation, and power controls. Because of the suddenness of the failure, I suspect this was an electronic failure and not a mechanical failure - akin to your computer crashing. However, you computer does not crash while you are going down the road at 70 mph. Please investigate this advantage rent a car at phx rental terminal. On July 13 2011 we purchased a 2010 Chrysler town and country with 28500 miles. Twice this month, my wife was driving our 2010 Chrysler town and country and the engine shut off while she was driving. One of the times it happened while she pulled into a busy street and was very lucky to not have caused an accident. We know that this is an ongoing issue with these vehicles and that a recall has been issued. We took the van to lee automotive in fort walton beach florida, and they said they would take a look at it. 8 hours later I picked the van up. The dealership said they could not duplicate the problem, they test drove it for only 2 miles. They said they looked at the ignition and that the right components are in place. So after 8 hours they did not fix anything. Called Chrysler corp. And they told us that their database shows that our vehicle has not been serviced to close the recall and that it is still showing an open recall suspense. According to the NHTSA recall, they were supposed to replace the win ignition module which they did not do. We have four children and are very scared to drive our van. We do not know where else to turn and are hoping to be pointed in the right direction to resolve this issue and be able to get on the road without fear.

First I just found this site. I bought this van on April 30,2011. In June I was pulling out of gas station and van shut down. I thought that is weird. Then again 3 more times from then. On August 31,2011 I was making a left turn at a light and it shut down again. This time we went onto the median taking out the front end, tires tranny, oil pan, ect. My kids were with me. Then I receive a recall notice on it. I went through my insurance cuz I didn't know I wasn't suppose to. All Chrysler did was put a rubber ring in the ing. To keep the key from shutting off. They wont do anything else to help. Im paying for a certified car. Its not right. Now there's problems with the radio, all the electrical. The key fix broke my key and had to trade it for another, OH Chrysler was willing to pay for that but wanted the old. I have nightmares of it happening on the freeway and the accident really messed up my current chronic conditions. The dealerships had to of been contacted about this recall and they still sold this van to the consumers. It should be illegal. I need a lawyer willing to help me get out from under this van. I shouldn't have to pay for a pre certified vehicle that was in accident do to Chryslers fault. We all need to take action. Don't you think?.

We have a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The engine will from time to time shut off while driving! it has now happened 4 times including once on the highway! I took it to the dealer and they cannot find the problem. I called Chrysler directly and they launched an investigation but stated that they have not heard of the issue and that there was nothing they could do. I explained that I was very worried about the engine shutting off and causing an accident and again they told me there was nothing that they could not do anything. I called the Chrysler recall number and they told me that they have had several complaints about this however they do not know how to fix the issue yet. They advised that “i hang in there�. Again I expressed my concern about my family driving the van with the possibility of it turning off. They stated that when there is a recall they will let the public know. They then gave told me “if it shuts off again while driving to put the car in neutral and restart it to prevent the wheel from locking� this is crazy and preposterous. How could Chrysler ask me to continue to drive a vehicle that could shut off and potentially cause an accident that could result in the death of a family member?!?!?!?!.
