1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

Car shut down while driving. There was no lights or power. It started on a jump, but began smoking. We replaced the battery, but it starts smoking every time you run it and the battery light stays on. I had it towed, as it isn't safe to drive. The mechanic checked the alternator, but it is good the mechanic says it must be the computer and said it would have to be towed to the dealership/.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

Takata recall- had to replace the battery and alternator twice in less than two years because of being stranded or just not starting multiple times. The tork clutch had to be replaced and still runs rough.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2019

The van started having issues with sensors. Last week the van did not start. I had to get a jump and it ran fine for a couple of days. Yesterday I had a new battery installed as I thought this was the problem and the battery in the van was over three years old. The van refused to start after installing the new battery, we tested the battery and it was good. Had to get a jump and bring it to my mechanic. I thought it would be an alternator problem. After various tests he found it was the timp and needs a fuel relay bypass installed because Chrysler has known issues with the timp in their Mini vans. $159 for the new battery and it will be $675 for the bypass. I did research online and this seems to be a common problem.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

"taka ta recall* my car sometimes jerks while driving or will cut off on me at any point I changed the spark plugs, the alternator, the thermostat because its was giving me a code that my thermostat was bad and also the fuel pump after changing all these things the car would stall and not cut on until I get someone to jump start my battery. So I then went and replaced the battery the car was working for a good couple of days and started back acting up. Took it to a shop and they said rhe fuel pump was still on while the car was off due to a relay in the power module so they said they will be able to just fix it but when trying to order the piece they said that was not possible due to its been a recall on the till which is the totally integrated power module but just not on my vehicle and it's not possible to change the relay because they have it attached to the power module and this is something that happen with the maufacuter so you will have to contact them so they can help you with it. But now I'm afraid to drive it because it keeps and sometimes just caught right off anywhere due to the totally integrated power module.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2018

My side mirror was hit and replaced. Right after replacement, the side sensor didn't work. Shop was already closed, I had my whole family in the car on 295 when all the lights on the dash started lighting up including the battery, the ac went out, windows stopped working, back up cam flashed. Pulled off the road just in time for the van to shut down and leave us stranded. After towing it back and unerring home, the repair shop said they towed it to a dealership that said, sorry, you alternator went out, pay us $1375!.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 03/07/2018

I have had electrical issues since the beginning of buying our vehicle brand new. Most recently the engine stalled while driving 25mph, engine light came on and flashed before the engine stalled causing power steering to fail. I took it to the dealership and was told they could not find an issue. The following week, on 3/16/18 they did an oil change and air filter change, again did not find any issues. On 3/19/18, as I was driving my 3 kids to school, the battery light came on and I lost power steering. I almost crashed with the kids in the car due to this issue. I ended up driving it back to the dealership and was told the power belt was completely off and the alternator was not attached to the engine as it should be. The brackets that hold the alternator on, was gone. This was the 3rd time this month I have brought this vehicle in, was told multiple times there was no issue. Now we could possibly have to replace the engine block.

7 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

The contact owns a 2011 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 10 mph, the alternator failed and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the alternator failed and produced a reverse voltage, which caused the ecu to be destroyed. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

8 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2017

The alternator failed and burned up and cooked the battery. There was a recall on the Chrysler 300 and other models with the same engine and alternator. I feel my vehicle should be recalled too. The cost was $1,000!.

9 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2017

Gauge cluster begins to flicker and guaguas begin to spazz out. Vehicle then shuts down while driving. No issues with battery or alternator.

10 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2017

This vehicle is a danger to families driving. The van just looses power while on freeway due to its electrical malfunctions. Totally integrated power module failure is so dangerous and should be taken care. My van died while I was driving on the highway and if my children were in the van at the time I would have been even more panicked! I was driving home after having my battery check per light had came on, battery tested good, and light went back off. While I was on my way back home the battery light came on again and then other lights started flashing on and the veh became very unstable. I took the first exit and the veh died. I had it towed to a shop that tested the alternator then pcm and said it is still not holding a charge. The van is on it's way to the dealer. This is not acceptable quality or safety for any minivan intended to carry children. Parents purchase these vehicles for size and safety!.

11 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2015

July - drove the van down to myrtle beach and the check engine light came on and we lost all power to vehicle. Had it towed to a repair shop and they said we needed a new alternator and battery. Got it fixed to the tune of almost $1,000. Recently (late oct-current) my wife went out to start it last week and it wouldn't start. Just cranked and cranked, then after several tries, it started up like nothing was wrong. Took it to our mechanic and they said it was something electronic told us they couldn't replicate the problem, which I basically told them that they were crazy because it has done it every morning for the last week. Finally narrowed it down to the tipm, which by the way is on back order for god knows how long, and not only do we have to pay for it, . So. . . Now what? I have no vehicle and have no idea how long it will be. Chrysler is doing nothing to help even though there are hundreds of complaints about this issue- the have recalled the durangos and cherokees for the same problem but failed to do anything with the grand caravans and town and country. . . We bought a $25,000 vehicle so we didn't have issues like this. . . I've always been a Chrysler person myself but am having second thoughts about our next vehicle.

12 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2014

I have a 2011 Chrysler town and country. As of today I have had the vehicle under 3 years and have had to replace the alternator 3 times, 3 new batteries, the master cylinder and break booster was replaced, multiple sensors, my abs and traction control never functions correctly. This is all because of the tipm that is malfunctioning and you cant get one of these because they are back ordered. And when you call the dealer ship or Chrysler they tell you there is nothing they can do.

13 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2014

All electrical equipment shut off. Then alternator not working properly-van will not keep an electrical charge.

14 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

While traveling on an interstate highway, the check engine light lit-up on the dash. I pulled off the road and called my dealer which was located 15 miles away and was told that I may not make it back to them for service. The engine would quit. I did drive to the dealer without incident. The alternator was replaced by the dealer at a cost of $577. 35. The cause of the failure of the alternator was not identified, 14v-634 does not include the town and country but includes other Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles of the same year. I am requesting that this vehicle be considered for this recall.
