1 Starter problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2020

Intermittent starting problem. Changed starter, but problem persisted a few months later. Tapping on starter sometimes works and vehicle will start but will not start when stopped again. .

2 Starter problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2019

Vehicle cranks, starter sometimes stays engaged for extended period of time, but fails to start due to fuel pump relay failure in total integrated power module ( tipm/fusebox). Sometimes will start, run, then die. After multiple attempts, will finally start, stay running. Known issue across multiple fca models and years. Can progress to failure while going down the road. Repair cost ~$1000. I view this as a safety issue worthy of a vehicle safety recall and find it reprehensible that despite all of reports regarding failure, no recall has been issued.

3 Starter problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

The vehicle will not start sometimes (the starter cranks but won't start) but then starts a few minutes later and you have no clue why, and sometimes the lights come on while parked at the house and then turn off. Other times the vehicle cranks up but will not start and after releasing the button it keeps cranking up for about 20 seconds? sounds like some problem with the firmware for the totally integrated power module (tipm) which is the gateway or distribution box for nearly the entire electrical system in late-model Chrysler products. Because of the intermittent nature (I have been experiencing this over more than 6 months and it will not repeat at my mechanics location) it is very hard to diagnose totally. The engine seems to be starting to run a little rougher than it used to also. I have over 125,000 miles with the vehicle and it has always worked great until this intermittent problem started. I also wake up my neighbors at different times of the night when the horn starts going off at random times. This one problem has been occurring since the car had about 20,000 miles and I attributed it to the key fob but I am not so sure. I have talked to Chrysler who keeps telling me that there is no recall so if I go in I have to pay to get it fixed while I think it is an engineering design problem that should be fixed at no cost. The date below reflects the latest instance but it has happened a lot during the past few years.

4 Starter problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

My tipm is failing slowly. My starter is pulling way to many amps when starting. I've changed it twice. My fuel relay has failed. A lot of the times when I start my car I have an icon for my abs sensor come on and the only way to get it off is to pull over and restart my car. When the light is on on my dash. My car won't drive over 60mph and my rpms will run high and when you let off the gas while it's doing this it will take you almost to a stop within seconds. My check engine light never goes off. And no matter how many times it gets tested and reset it comes back within hours. So my auto start never works. Sometimes when I start my car I can't get my seatbelt alarm to stop singing so I have to pull over and restart. It all leads back to this tipm (electronics board below the fuse box). I've had it priced at 1300$ to fix it. But turns out it's the most common issue with this year of this van. Please help!.

5 Starter problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Vehicle has plastic 'fob' and not a traditional key. This vehicle intermittently (while stationary) fails to crank the starter. I've been told that this problem is widespread with 2007 - 2011 Chrysler Town & Country vans. I found no recall. Is there an investigation? problem has occurred scores of times in past 6 months.

6 Starter problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Vehicle displays code for tipm problem at the mechanics shop. I've put over $5,000 of repairs to finally get this code for the tipm. After extensive research I've found thre are many people with this same problem and similar vehicles with the same part have been recalled. To put a new tipm is going to cost another $1,300. Please a's a reputable company, I hope you will do the right thing and recall this issue on the vehicle. I have loved my van and was planning to upgrade to the pacifica. If this problem is not corrected I will no longer buy Chrysler's products. With today's age of information im sie you are aware of the problem others are having, please urse this to your advantage and fix this difficult to diagnose and expensive problem. Vehicle starts after 7-10 attempts, happens intermittently. Will sometimes crank, sometimes nothing happens when you turn the key. I have to slam the gas to eventually get it to start, if it cranks. I've replaced the battery, starter, fuel pump, fuel injectors, done a full tune-up, removed the remote start and more without success.

7 Starter problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

We started having issues with my van a couple months ago. Thought it was the fuel pump, so we replaced it. Still had problems. But much worse! van wouldn't start. And 3. 5 hours later my fuel pump was still running. Did some further looking into it. Come to find out the tipm needs replaced (or just the relay). So looking into the system more, the tipm has caused the starter to not start. It is sitting in my garage until we can get the tipm work done. Not very safe. Very mad! I still owe money on this car and now we dont have a car big enough for the family. I will never buy Chrysler cars again!!! this has been the worst 7 months with this car!!!!.

8 Starter problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2018

Takata recall I have been having an issue with my car not starting for over a year. I've replaced 2 starters and still having the same issue. I have taken my car to the Chrysler dealership in woodriver, IL and spent almost 400. 00 and the issue still isn't fixed. They are the dealership and they can't even give me an answer or resolve what the real issue is. I can't keep taking my vehicle in and having it worked on. I think they know its the tipm. I will never buy another Chrysler again. I have 2 children and I'm scared every time I have them in the car. We bought this van to accommodate our family and also for road trip. We can't even do that anymore because we can't trust the van to go long distances let alone the grocery store. How has this not been recalled or addressed?.

9 Starter problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2018

At first starting the van was intermittent you would have to wait till you heard the fuel pump turn on in order to start the vehicle because the fuel relay on the tipm board is going bad. Once you heard the fuel pump come on the van would start but there are times where the starter stays engaged and wants to keep trying to start when the van is running. Last weekend I was on the highway with my five year old daughter and the fuel pump shut off while driving( in motion), speed limit of 70,. I lost control of the steering, the van decelerated very quickly in heavy amount of traffic, I was nearly in a multi-car accident. When the van is shut off I am not sure the air bags will work if I had been involved in an accident. I have to unplug the fuse to the fuel pump every time I get out of the vehicle because the fuel pump keeps running draining my battery. I had to pay $200. 00 to replace my battery. This has been a problem with Dodge and Chrysler for 10 years they know about it but it will take someone dying in order for them to recall all vehicles affected. I am afraid to drive my van because I feel in this current state it is unsafe because it has shut down because of the fuel relay on the tipm board.

10 Starter problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2017

While driving, my van had an electrical meltdown starting with my seat warmers not staying on. It continued with gauges malfunctioning, headlights and stereo shut down. Followed by a complete shutdown of the vehicle. It was determined that the alternator went out but also fried the electrical system resulting in needing the tipm and ecm replaced. I suspected the tipm as a problem several months earlier when the van would not start regularly but if you continued to push the start button it would eventually start. It also completely shut down once while driving but then came back up after a couple seconds. My mechanic thought it was the starter. Chrysler has recalled the tipm for my make, model, and year but somehow has skipped my VIN. A lawsuit was also settled in 2015 with regards to the tipm and the vehicles not starting. I believe Chrysler should expand their VIN numbers to include all vehicles listed in the years included in the lawsuit. In addition, Chrysler should be financially liable for all repairs necessitated by the manufacturing/design defect that causes the electrical failures.

11 Starter problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2017

Car will not start from "park" occasionally. Lights will work, gauges will work, starter will not crank to turn the engine over. This usually occurs when vehicle is at normal operating temperatures, after driving to the store and turning it off. Then trying to start car when leaving store. After two to seven tries, starter will work and engine starts.

12 Starter problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2016

Sitting still car will not start, however when you remove key fob from dash and put back ini it may start, had to garage they replaced battery and starter still doing it Chrysler said they don't know whats wrong had to garage 4 times no codes just had it towed to Chrysler got back still wont start some times only 53000 miles.

13 Starter problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2013

When starting with push button sometimes will not start . Other times stays engaged. Brake pedal gets hard with push button that's how I know it will not start with button. Heater will turn on on its own even after being shut off. Cruise control does not always light up and work. Back hatch will not open or close with button no codes pull up on any of these issues. I have had it at 3 or 4 different mechanics and nobody seems to know what the problem is. Have pulled up things on the internet that shows temp board. I have taken this vehicle in many times under warranty and nobody could find out what the problem is. Now warranty is out and still have no answers. We did replace starter and it did not resolve the issue. Husband is on disability for brain tumor so we do not have a lot of resources to try eliminate. Would like to know what you have suggested to others that have put complaints in for the same issues.

14 Starter problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2012

When starting vehicle,it acts like the battery is dead, the starter clicks several times then starts like normal.
