1 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2020

Van began having trouble starting up at around 100,000 miles. The issue was intermittent until a week ago. While the vehicle was stationary, the vehicle wouldn't crank. The fuel pump will not engage and start the vehicle. My battery is good and when we bypassed the tipm, the vehicle cranks properly. This is an indication that the tipm is faulty. After researching this issue, it seems that it's a known problem for many Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep models in 2011. This a definite hazard because the fuel pump continues to run even while everything is turned off.

2 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/12/2019

Van has had a few times where it will not start, you can turn the key all the way to the on position, all the lights/radio and air will come on but the engine fails to start, does not make a noise. After a few tries it will start. Recently the key got stuck in the on position to start and the engine tried starting 4 times while stuck in that position before it finally started and almost quit. Did not dare to turn vehicle off due to the possibility it would not start. Research states the tipm is the cause of this along with multiple electrical issues. This should be recalled.

3 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

Car wouldn't start, then would start, then wouldn't start and now repeatedly will not start. Took it to my local shop who charged me for a repair but that didn't resolve this. Took it to a Chrysler dealer shop and they were unable to initially diagnose what was going on. I've asked them to do no work pending conversations with the original shop. All the documentation that I have read points to the tipm so I believe that this is the cause.

4 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2018

Car would not start when parked in the driveway, had it towed to mechanic. They first said that the fuel pump needed replaced, then after replacing this part, they stated that the totally integrated power module also needed replaced. After 5 days without our vehicle and paying thousands of dollars, we are furious. I have been reviewing this problem with this vehicle and it appears to be a problem for many, many people, but nothing is being done by Chrysler. This is the exact issue as part of "safety recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115 fuel pump relay". The town and country was excluded from this recall despite using the exact same part and having the exact same issues.

5 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2018

When driving on highway vehicle would turn off and sometimes turn back on in a short period of time. Vehicle will not start. There have been hundreds of times that it has done this. Happens at various times.

6 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2018

Car will not start, will not stay started, or shuts off while driving. Or. . . The fuel pump will stick "on" while the car is off. This is due to the faulty integrated relays in the totally integrated power module failing. This is the exact issue as part of "safety recall r09 / NHTSA 15v-115 fuel pump relay". The town and country was excluded from this recall despite using the exact same part and having the exact same issues. I would like to have the proper parts put into my car for safety reasons. The dealer wants to put the faulty parts back into the car after charging me a lot of money to fix this obvious safety issue that should have been recalled with the others.

9 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

Vehicle will not start. Tipm needs replacing. Upon investigation into the issue, there are countless complaints of the same part, but with very concerning safety issues such as vehicle stalling while driving or airbags randomly deploying or not deploying at all during an accident. The NHTSA denied the petition to investigate this widely occurring issue. What the hell good is this organization if they don't place consumer interest and safety first???????????????.

10 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

The fuel pump relay inside the tipm (fuse box circuit board fuel pump relay) the vehicle would not start sometimes and died a few times out driving it out on the highway. I bought a new relay and had it solder in to my tipm and it works great now then a engine light came on and it say's it's not communication with my pcm then it's working again. Vehicle runs great now and starting. I hear Chrysler 2011 town and country vans are having a lot of problems with the same issues but no recalls on the tipm box modules.

11 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2017

Car will not start intermittently leaving me stranded multiple times having to tow. Bad tipm is what I am told by others with similar stories; dealer says they cannot find anything definite problem started at approximately 70,000 miles but would start after 2-3rd try; occurring much more frequently taking 8 hours to start again. Last time they said my brand new battery was "faulty". Replaced and now occuring again.

12 Car Will Not Start problem

Tipm (totally integrated power module) failure. Symptoms include fuel pump not running, or running irregularly. Vehicle will not start, vehicle stalls soon after starting. This part is common to several models and causes problems across model lines. It has since been redesigned, and the dealership is installing the "new" module in our vehicle at my expense.

13 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2016

Our 2011 town and country is in the shop for what we thought was a fuel pump issue. After spending the money for a new fuel pump the van stopped working before we could even pick it up. Come to find out the problem is one that Chrysler has known about for sometime, total integrated power module (tipm for short). The repair shop is saying that this fix will cost $1200. We have also replaced the battery twice because of this issue. The van has been having issue for 2 years, when it only has 40k miles. At first it was intermittent and the repair shop couldn't figure out what the issue was. Most of the time the problem was that the car wouldn't start. A couple of times it would start to start and we would put it into reverse and it would stop. I have opened a case with their corporate office. When talking to the lady (man, I wish I would have gotten her name) she told me that she has never heard of this problem before and "you can't believe everything on google". Really!!! I'm not stupid!! they have been sued about this issue and settled. All of the repair people I have talked too were surprised that they would say that since they all know about it.

14 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

The issue began with our van frequently requiring more than one attempt to start the engine. This progressed until we were unable to start the van at all. I feared it was a bad fuel pump and the local dealer came up with the same diagnosis. After a few days we were informed that our van was ready to be picked up. We arrived at the shop the next morning only to find that the car wouldn't even start. Apparently our town and country had a bad tipm which caused the fuel pump to burn out. Total cost for the tipm, fuel pump, and labor was over $1600.

15 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

Bought the van in 2011 and since then, the vehicle began to having problems starting in 2014. I pressed the start button, but the engine would not turn over. After several hundred tries, it would start. This happened 20 times since then and the dealer does not know why. Today, 4 oct 16, the vehicle will not start at all. I'm a deployed service member and my wife and three children use this van. The faulty ignition system will leave my family stranded. I researched this and there is a recall for other models with the same tipm system, however, there is not one for the town and country. There are hundreds of owners experiencing the same problem. Please have Chrysler admit there is a faulty tipm and that this needs to be recalled.

18 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2016

Vehicles was parked in driveway went to start vehicle and it will not start, vehicle will turn over and act like it,is not getting fuel. If vehicle sits for some time eventually it will start 3-4 times and then issue will occur again. Vehicle started with no problem the previous day, problem occurred without any warning, no check engine light displayed on dash. When vehicle is off fuel pump can be heard still running with ignition off and battery has to be disconnected in order to stop fuel pump from running and not drain battery. Battery is brand new, fuses have been checked and are in good condition. In researching online I have found others to have the same issue but have not seen any recall. Was able to fiind possible temporary fix by using a fuel pump relay bypass but have not tried this option. . I have called and spoken to be Chrysler service department and have been told that it here is no recall and all I can do is have car towed to them and let them check it out. I would think with recall they have done on Jeep and Dodge protects there would be something they can tell. Same issue has occurred with the Dodge caravan which is basically the Chrysler town n country. Please help!!!!!!!!!.

21 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2015

We purchased this vehicle 6 months ago. We had no issues until recently the vehicle would not start. We made several attempts to start the vehicle and finally it would turn on. The following morning we tried to turn it on and it wouldn't. This time the vehicle would not turn on. I took it to a mechanic who tested the fuel pump and discovered there may be an issue with the tipm box. After looking this information up I found that others are having the similar issue and so I decided to report this issue.

22 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

The tipm recall for Jeep and durango should be extended to any vehicle with that specific part, including my vehicle, the 2011 Chrysler town and country. My tipm is the same part that was recalled in other vehicles, it should be focus of the recall, not the host vehicles with the most complaints. My vehicle exhibited the exact symptoms as those described in complaints that triggered the recall of the tipms. My town and country would not start whether cold or hot, home or in a strange parking lot, if it was parked or stalled while driving. It got to the point when my wife was stranded away from home. My local mechanic, narrowed it down to the tipm, however was not equipped to replace and program the new part. The dealership that I took it to dismissed the problem and insisted it was the fuel pump. It was not the fuel pump and after having my own mechanic replace the fuel pump, the tipm defect continued from the moment of the fuel pump repair. I was able to mail the tipm itself to a gauge repair specialist who installed a new fuel pump relay directly to the circuit board for $100. 00. The vehicle started without symptoms as soon as the repaired tipm was installed. A Chrysler service member let me know that the symptom sounded like the fuel pump relay which is soldered to the board, the only Chrysler employee remotely interested in helping me. Made scents to me so I went with an outside solution. The gauge repair specialist had repaired hundreds of this same tipms before they were recalled. I would expect the same recall for all tipms regardless of the vehicle in which they were installed. The fact that the part in my vehicle was backordered do to the recall substantiates the idea that it should be included in the recall. Waiting for correct diagnoses and backordered parts would mean another two months waiting. Photo: burnt contacts under the fuel pump relay.

23 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

Since buying van in 2011, windshield wipers turn on intermittently when there is no rain in sight. June 2015 bought a new battery after I was unable to start the car. Seemed to fix issue. April 2016 as I was driving through neighborhood going 25 mph car stalled. Went to the dealer after researching stalling issue (most posts indicated a tipm issue) but dealer didn't seem to know what I was talking about nor did they care. Within the last month the car has not started a handful of times. Battery was retested and it was fine. Two days ago I went out of town and when I tried to start car it would not start (it flashed lights and blinkers went off). Tried starting it remotely with key and that made the alarm go off for several minutes. Ended up having to turn off radio and a/c before van decided to start. I have 3 kids to tow around and no longer feel safe in my car!.

Problem keeps reoccurring, changed batteries in key fobs, still having problem, dealer worked with us over phone tonight and got car started in neutral then ran fine. Bringing car into dealership again tomorrow to be diagnosed again but this is still happening. From reading the various forums and compliant. Com it sounds like a tip problem.

30 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

The vehicle would not start for lack of fuel reaching the engine. The problem was the failure of the internal totally integrated power module causing the fuel pump relay to shut off. I had several conversations with Chrysler and during conversations learned there was a shortage of the parts which indicates this is a frequently occurring systemic failure as well as a safety issue. Chrysler is currently experiencing massive recalls for fuel pump issues. However, the tipm module failure is not presently included in a recall. I would like to respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this potential safety hazard. The case number I have established with Chrysler is 25606136.

32 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

Vehicle would not start with fob. Has been intermittent problem since. Local dealer (crown Chrysler Jeep, dublin OH) proposed "possible" fix by replacing some electrical component ( $700. 00+ non-warranty, out of pocket) during summer of 2014. Problem continues to this date and looking at registered complaints I would guess the previous owner or dealership (galeana Chrysler Jeep, inc, ft myers, FL decided to pass the problem to the next owner and let them/me deal with the problem. Also, rear window vent switch was disconnected @ crown during summer of 2014. Neither crown or galeana has been able to provide replacement as of this date. Does anyone other than me see a pattern here!?.

33 Car Will Not Start problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2014

Vehicle wouldn't start on vacation. Battery was fine. Charged it and started driving on highway. Vehicle stalled twice while driving on highway. Got to dealership and found out it was tipm. Said it was not covered under warranty because electrical not mechanical. Tipm controls all safety and ignition on vehicle. Put myself and family, children at risk for faulty tipm. Paid $1100 to have functioning car in 1 car family. Way home, air bag light went on. Went to dealership at home to find parts of tipm not installed correctly disabling air bag function.
