1 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/05/2015

Noticed loud grinding noise coming from front end of vehicle and vibration in steering wheel. Noise and vibration increased with speed. Was told both front bearings were bad and needed replacement. Understood a recall was conducted and a service bulletin was issued for the 2008 Town & Country, but Chrysler said my vehicle was not affected, which is odd considering the issues in my t/c seem to very the very issues found within the recall and bulletin detailing required repair.

2 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/23/2015

The blind spot detection system stopped working. Upon further investigation, it was determined that both sensors in the rear quarter panels and 1 plug need to be replaced. The right rear sensor was completed corroded through and separated apart. The plug for this sensor is also melted from the corrosion. The left rear sensor has a large bulge in the plastic from over heating. I contacted the dealer and was told that this is a known problem but there is no recall. The estimate over the phone was $3,000. 00.

4 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/06/2015

All safety features suddenly stopped working. The blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, park assist, rear view camera, and compass all stopped. I was told this is from driving the car in the winter! apparently, there are two modules located behind the bumper that have corroded severely. The snow and salt is thrown off the tires directly on these integrated units that are not sealed sufficiently and so the units corrode and fail. This is absolutely a design failure. These critical units that run all safety equipment should not be placed so carelessly and not properly protected. Please see Chrysler recalls and fixes this design failure. Thank you.

5 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

Warning lights on both mirrors for blind spot detection stay on always - with the ding ding ding sounds ringing on and off - weather driving down the road or sitting still parked, if the car is running, the problem is there. I believe this unsafe issue should be fixed by a recall, as it is a problem that is very unsafe & dangerous, many folks whom have purchased this vehicle are experiencing the same unsafe problem! I paid for this feature on the vehicle, to add safety and now it is causing just the opposite, unsafe driving conditions. This really concerns me, a safety feature failing on all these cars and especially at such low mileage. With this feature malfunctioning, it is much more dangerous than texting or talking on the phone while driving. What is the criteria to get a recall in place, do people have to have accidents or die to get a problem recalled, how is it decided.

6 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/02/2015

Blind spot monitoring system illuminates constantly. System has failed and can not detect vehicles in the blind spot. Unable to turn off system unless paying for costly repair. Lights and chimes are distracting to the driver and could result in unnecessary avoidance maneuvers.

9 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/15/2014

I was driving my van when the air conditioner quit working, then the power window's would not work, then the power lock's quit working, wiper's quit, plus several other thing's. The inside of the van became very hot as it was a 101 outside and I was afraid to shut the van off and be stranded. The engine continued to work and I drove it to a dealer not from my town who shut van off then restarted it, everything worked. I felt that I and my wife were in a very dangerous situation!!! I also had trouble with it starting several times as well. Itook van to my local dealer who determined that the computer moduel was bad; after some delay was able to have it fixed. So far van work's ok with a few oddities that I do not deem serious, yet. My local dealer was cooperative but not to forthcoming with info about the situation involving the module. Thank you.

10 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

While driving I had all computer screens shut down on me, meaning going blank. My radio turned off , the dvd player shut off, as well as my driver panel lights. This is the first time it has shut off on me, usually when I turn on the van either those functions work or they don't work. I also have issues with the tps, abs, lights flashing at me including the engine light. It randomally will come on and randomally go off. Chysler told me for $3,000-$4,000 I can have the van rewired and have no van for about a month. I can not and will not afford this. I have summited other complaints about this van including the module recall. I don't know what to do this van is a safety hazard and a money pit.

11 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/07/2014

Pursuant to a recall notice I have tried in vain numerous times since Jun 7, 2015 to get the Chrysler dealer known as adams of annapolis to schedule an appointment . The reason told to me is that they have not received the parts from the manufacturer and to keep checking back with them to see if the parts have arrived. Adams will not take my phone number to tell me when the parts do come in. Moreover, they refuse to return my calls when I try to find out if the parts have come in. The only way I can communicate with them is if I appear in person . I have done so twice and continue to be told what I have described above. I am a handicapped person with a ramp van and find this totally unacceptable which is why I am filing this complaint. In the meantime, I have had the ramp side door open without activating the fobik.

12 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, a child's finger became stuck in the headphones that were equipped for the factory dvd player. The contact mentioned that there was a defect in the headphones. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 8,000. Updated 08/14/lj.

13 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

I was driving our town and country van on the interstate and was going to change lanes to my left. The blind spot detection did not come on to warn me that a car was there. Almost hit the other car. This has happened many times since. On 9-27-1014 driving out of the driveway at our house the blind spot detection did not pick up the garbage can on the side of the drive and hit the can causing $ 361. 53 of damage. Told Chrysler but they said no recalls for this. Now the blind spot system is not working at all and the dash is dinging all the time. I see there was a recall for a 2009 town and country van for this problem no. J01. Many people are complaining on the internet about this fix costing $ 2,000 at the dealer. Seems there should be a recall for this 2012 van as safety has been lost and crashes are expected to happen.

14 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 12/13/2013

Blind spot detector stopped working at approximately 42,000 miles. Alarm came on saying "service blind spot system" and lights on both side view mirrors stays on all the time. The car just got out of warranty at 40,000 miles and they want to charge around $1,400 for rear module and around $800 for front module to fix the problem !! I think that's a scam !!! I purposely paid extra just for this safety feature and it doesn't work for no fault of ours !!! this is a safety problem because the car is large and the baby's car seat blocks the view out of the rear window !! while asking around I understand it's happened to quite a few people who own a town and country after they get out of their warranty ??? I see a pattern going on here !!! please look into this issue. Thank you for your time & gob bless !!!.

15 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2010 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

My t&c began leaking from under the dash on the passenger side. At first it was intermittent and usually after a heavy rain, when I would turn on my ac/defrost/heat. We had our vehicle inspected for a leak. None was found, neither was the source of the water coming inside the vehicle. Now the water drips all the time,as long as the hvac controls are on. It is now affecting the hvac controls: although I'm trying not to run it, when on I can feel the cool air but it is not blowing. I suspect the motors to the hvac and possibly wipers are being effected by whatever is going on under the dash. It has all happened around the same time. There is no recall for this issue for my model year, but the same exact issue was recalled on the 08 model. "these vehicles may experience a heating and air conditioner (hvac) condensate leak from the hvac drain grommet onto the occupant restraint control (orc) module, which can lead to the illumination of the airbag warning light and a potential inadvertent airbag deployment without warning. Consequence:an inadvertent airbag deployment could result in injury to the seat occupant in front of the deploying airbag and/or a vehicle crash. " when I told this to Chrysler corp, they said there was nothing they could do. So I said, so who do I call to settle a law suit when the airbag deploys with out warning and causes me to crash, putting me and my young children in severe danger? she said, well you need to go to a dealership and get it fixed. I know that, and I will, but I think it is negligent on their part to not accept for a manufacturers defect that they are familiar with from previous t&c years. Now I have to go accrue a huge bill for Chrysler to take apart the dash and fix their problem with my vehicle. I just don't think it's right.

My tipm module needs to be replaced but since there is a national shortage for this part. I like thousands of others have to wait 6-9 months before there will be any available. This part has been on back order for a very long time. Chrysler is very lucky that no one has been seriously hurt.

22 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/12/2010

We purchased a used 2008 town and country 13000 miles in December 2008. In April 2009 at 16000 miles it needed all four brake pads replaced. Dealer said brakes were not covered with warranty and this was just normal wear and tear. In June 2010 at 32,000 miles when we took it in for an oil change, the technician indicated all four brake pads needed to be replaced. On March 14 2009 we reported the cd player would not eject cd's, but no work was performed. On April 8 2009 we again reported radio/cd player would not eject cds. Dealer replaced the radio. On July 6 2009 we reported sound quality problems with the radio. It was replaced and on July 30th we experienced same problems only now the radio would just shut off completely. The radio was again replaced. On December 26 we reported the aux. Power outlet was inoperable and needed to be replaced. We also reported the engine was exhibiting a loud humming noise when we approached speeds of 40 mph. Technician told us it was a computer problem and that was reset. Within one day the sound was back. In July 2010 we were traveling to denver colorado and the ac would cut out when we approached 65 mph. In addition the rpm's would go as high as 4000-5000 at 60 mph. Car had to be towed into a local dealership in which the said the service department said the valve body and hub bearings were causing the noise and problems.

23 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

Every time when fill up the gas tank the engine will stalled (but you can start up ) will run rough for 4 to 5 miles after that engine will back to normal condition, I have known a lot people have a same problem with there types of vehicles, this does sound like a design flaw. About 75,000 miles it started to stall right after filling up. It is a dangerous situation especially if it stalls in the middle of an intersection or on railroad tracks. Chrysler should recall there types of vehicle.

24 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/09/2007

The van was professionally modified straight from factory by independent mobility systems, inc (ims) a company out of business that specialized in these modifications. I previously reported back around early 2006 about a safety problem that I had experienced with the vehicles rear shock-absorber lower tie-down brackets. In my complaint I explained that I had experienced a terrifying incident while traveling at 50 mph the left bracket broke at the weld that connected it to the rear axle, causing the highly pressurized shock-absorber to extend and jammed against the pavement and the axle. This caused the rear of the vehicle to jump and shutter violently and making me stop rapidly. Repaired at the cost of $100. 00. On this occasion I was in a parking lot and driving over a speed bump when the weld on the right side bracket broke off. Again I towed it to a midas at different location and spent $45. 00 on the repair. Well this was reported to braun enterprises , a company that specialized in these modifications that has taken up warranty and parts issues from ims. Their response was that since the vehicle was past its warranty period they would not be willing to cover the repairs. This resulted in my first report to dot. The reason for my repeating this report was that it has happened again to one of the same brackets. This happened three times. In my initial report I stated that the reason I suspected this happened was due to faulty engineering. Since the brackets where located lower than any other parts in the bottom of the vehicle it was probably susceptible to road obstacles. I further suggested that another cause might be due to where the brackets were placed and the manner in which they were mounted that was not sufficient to withstand the pressures of everyday driving. Remember these modifications were done on vehicles that transport people with mobility effected challenges.

25 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/30/2006

Summary: I was supposed to pick up the van on March 30 2006, but the system died during the test run, van would not shift gears, signal or turn off, this problem recurred on July 23, 2006 shortly after it was finally delivered to me at home. I called carlos, the president of the company which made the adaptive driving equipment for my van and left a voice mail saying the van was stuck in drive, and I was sitting with my hand on the brake, (as happened on March 29, 2006 when we went to take it home for the first time. The customer care representative called me back and told me to have someone pull out one of the fuses to reset it. About a week later, drive master technician came out to put in a temporary reset switch. I never heard back from carlos regarding this incident. The vehicle failed numerous times, causing me to have to flip this 'temporary' reset switch, carlos didn't return my calls , but drive master said he was sending out the parts to replace the switch. Then, the van died late September in a parking lot, gas/brake failed, back-up brake \was delayed, a second earlier or later and I would have been in a major accident. I spoke to carlos in October, and he was putting in something to fix this problem, but he had yet to address the problem . This caused the van to freeze , inability to shift gears, signal, turn the car off, etc , and the only resolution to that first problem, so far was to flip the reset switch that was temporarily put in. Carlos offered me an upgrade that would address the problem that happened in late September with the van freezing for $1500, but said it would normally cost more and he wasn't making it available to everyone. The problem recurred without resolution.

27 Adaptive Equipment problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 07/08/2004

We bought a used 2002 Chrysler town and country minivan from a car rental company here in sacramento California. The VIN # is 2c4gp74lx2r708059. The vehicle was in excellent condition with about 24,000 miles on it we we bought it. A couple of months after we bought the vehicle, the abs light went on indicating that the abs brake system and the traction control systems were malfuntioning. We took it into a dealer here in town and they replaced a rear wheel speed sensor. A few months later the abs light came on again and we took it back to the dealer. They checked it out and said the wheel sensor was showing bad again. They replaced the wheel speed sensor again. Now it is about 3 weeks after that most recent repair and the abs light came on again. We were on vacation at the time and drove about 1000 miles without abs brakes or traction control as it was inconvenient to take it in while on vacation. I did not receive the old part either time before but I will get it this time. By the way the vehicle is outside of warranty now and Chrysler has declined to repair it without charge. We feel this is a safety issue as we are driving for considerable periods of time without 2 important safety features that came with the vehicle; antilock brakes and traction control. We are concerned that they can't seem to get this problem resolved. We are also concerned that others may be experiencing the same problem and it is not getting resolved. This seems to be a defect with the abs system or parts within the abs system of this chrylser model.
