While driving the van, it randomly stalls and everything goes dead on the car. The ignition does not turn over, it just keeps cranking. After a while it starts back up and then it eventually happens again. This happens at high speeds and low speed and just leaves you stranded. No dealer knows the problem. It is very unsafe. It happened to my family in a highway.

The vehicle stalled and the driver was able to coast into a parking lot and power off the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to dewey Dodge Chrysler Jeep (located at 3175 se delaware Ave, ankeny, IA 50021, (515) 289-8700) where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness was faulty under the instrument panel and hood. The contact was stated that the clockspring in the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 153,000.

Saturday, December 22, 2018 - we were returning home after visiting out of town relatives for the winter holidays. The van stalled on us (entire family of four plus one aunt-five people total in our van) in the middle of the road! I was a panicking fearing we could all die that instant! we were very lucky to safetly get the van to the side of the road with the rolling momentium the van still had despite the engine turning off, no power steering, and no power brakes! my wife had been telling me (started about five years ago) that the van randomly stalls while in traffic and I had been researching the issue online continuously when I had free time and remembered the random stalling issue. No trouble codes came up when the van stalled on Saturday, December 22, 2018. After reasearching what others have posted online, this issue seems like a class action law suit needs to be filed for it because of the severity of the issue (putting families lives at risk, thats the main purpose of buying a van, to take your family places).

While driving the van gets flashing lights on the dash board, the odometer starts to bounce all over the place. Then the van stalls. It happened while driving and at a stop sign.

Van has been intermittently stalling as I'm slowing at a light or when idling. It has also done this as I'm backing out of my driveway. No engine light comes on and there is no sound from the engine. Power steering and abs stop working when this happens which makes this so dangerous.

Van stalls while moving on city streets. Dash cluster lights up then shuts down, loss of power, steering, braking. Sometime restarts on it's own while still in gear, if coming to a complete stop, must put in park to restart. This is the third time reporting it to the Chrysler dealership with no resolution. This problem has been reported to NHTSA several times involving the Chrysler town and country. Why has NHTSA not demander a recall. . . These vehicles are unsafe to drive!!!.

Car stalls (stops running) randomly at speeds below 40 mph. This causes loss of power steering and brakes which can lead to a dangerous situation. I've almost run into a tree or off the road on several occasions since this happens randomly. The traction light comes on first and then you realize the engine isn't running anymore. You have to put the car in park and then start it again. It may be fine for the rest of the drive or it may stall again. Totally random as to when it does this. It has not happened at high speeds on the highway as of yet. I've had the car to the dealer several times with this complaint and each time they can't replicate it or it was due to the key fob recall which was performed on my car 3 times.

The vehicle will randomly shut off right after starting, still in park. No warning. It has also stalled out while driving in traffic.

In oct 2018 the motor blowed with head problem it locked motor up we called Dodge they said out of warranty it had 60. 400 miles on it so I bought a used motor out of 2015 with 40. 000 on it it lasted 7 months last week my wife was coming home went to turn in drive way it stalled when she started it back up it was knocking barely I was hoping for some help with it please I still owe for the last motor it cost me 3200 to get it and get it installed she love her van thanks jackie mingle 615 418 5079.

The contact stated that the ignition module was previously replaced by the same dealer, but they did not assist. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact stated that the brake pedal was difficult to depress and the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to kimberly car city (located at 625 w kimberly rd, davenport, IA 52806, (563) 391-8300) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Car stalled while driving 40 mph,and will not start,tipm is defective,the internal fuel pump relay has failed,the vehicle is a 2011 Chrysler town and country with 59000 miles.

My Chrysler town and country began having what I thought was a minor turn signal issue. After replacing the bulb and that not correct the issue my mechanic replaced the fuses and that did not solve the issue. I was then told that my tipm box/system was bad. That an $800. 00 part to fix a signal turn signal. Well it had to be replaced in order to pass inspection in order to continue driving the vehicle. So I replaced it. Fast forward 1 year later and my vehicle begins to intermittently spudder when coming to a complete stop. I then began to completly shut off at times after highway driving over a distance of 5 or more miles when I exit and stop or slow down after exiting the highway. When I took it to the shop, they test drove the vehicle and it stalled on the highway during their test drive diagnostic. They had to get assistance to get the vehicle out of the road. They then told me that only the dealership can correct the tipm system.

Ever since Chrysler issued a recall and replaced the ignition the car stalls while driving down the road. All power is lost and we have to pull over and hope the car starts. Usually it does however sometimes it requires a jump start. It's not a bad battery! I have had it tested and I continued to use the same battery to this day. Over a one year time I have logged probably 50 stall events. Moisture humidity seems to make it worse. Learned this when I moved from maine to tucson. But now it's stalling a lot here in tucson although it is monsoon season. The dealership said it was due to the weight of keys hanging from the ignition key, the problem is I bought the car new and have never had anything attached to the ignition key. I only carry the ignition key by itself. Nice try Chrysler, but you are wrong. I need to state this stalling problem did not occur until Chrysler issued a recall to prevent stalling instructing the dealership to replace the keys and ignition. Chrysler says it''s my problem I need to pay to fix, I say they created the problem and need to pay to fix. Maybe the ntsb should investigate! didn't gm have a problem like this?.

After every fuel fill the vehicle runs rough or stalls. Most times for the first mile then clears up. Almost impossible to pull out in traffic after filling the tank.

The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 130,000.

2008 Chrysler town country. Consumer writes in regards to smoking engine compartment, defective a/c and ramp door. The consumer stated the vehicle's failures began within the first week of owning it. While driving , all electrical power shut off. The engine would not shut off and began to smoke excessively with water gushing from the engine compartment. The horn randomly went off and was disabled by disconnecting the battery. The vehicle has shut off while driving and the steering wheel locked up simultaneously. While attempting to reverse out of the garage, the vehicle went forward instead and stalled out.

Approximately two months ago the 2010 t&c began being sluggish to start. We replaced the battery and it started fine. A week after it began to stall with the dash lights turning on and off. A day or two later it began to stall and turned off in traffic. The battery has been checked and it is functioning - the local mechanic performed a diagnostic test and no code was present. Currently it had stalled and turned off several times - extremely stressful and dangerous.

I see many complaints on NHTSA regarding Town & Country vehicles with electrical problems, with many related to car not starting, or car stalling. We have sent emails to Chrysler asking for help with how to fix this issue. This is our 3rd Chrysler vehicle. We are happy with the brand but are losing faith because our mechanic/dealer cannot solve the problem specifically, our 2010 Chrysler t&c minivan has trouble starting when it is hot (temperature outside or when car has been running a long time). We have replaced the battery, and had our dealer and an independent mechanic try to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it, without success. We have performed the electrical key ignition recall. Please ask Chrysler to solve the problem and tell dealers (and everyone) how to fix it thank you.

Vehicle stalls randomly while driving. This causes steering to lock and breaks to malfunction. Very dangerous. This has happened on several ocasions.

I own a 05 town and country and the electrical system has been failing though the entire vehicle from the radio shorting out, headlights flicking on and off, rear sensors failing, upper display above the mirror gone black where the temp. And miles till empty controls are. On top of that the car is now randomly stalling while driving has me in fear to drive it with my kids. I have read hundreds of reports about this same issue with not only this year but all the way up through 2012. My mechanic has changed the erg valve and many other parts but there has got to be a bigger issue. Cars should not be stalling out while driving. If you look into all the complaints about this specific car stalling randomly you will see that there is a huge issue with this in many years of this car and someone is going to get hurt if they haven't already due to this issue with this specific make and model. I am requesting a full investigation into all the reports on this issue scattering the internet and I hope action is taken to save lives. When the car stalls while driving the power steering and brakes fail and is extremely dangerous.

Vehicle stalls between 20-40 mph on city streets and the traction icon comes on. Power steering immediately goes out and the vehicle must be pulled over and restarted. Problem was very intermittent when it first appeared 3/31/18 but now happens on almost every trip, typically near the beginning of the trip (11/21/18). Mechanic has failed to replicate, diagnose, or fix the problem.

Stalls without warning under all conditions. Engine and all electrical components (engine, lights, power brakes, power steering, interior lights, dashboard lights). This used to happen once and a while. Now it happens more than once a day. This is a major safety problem. Last time the car was at the Chrysler dealership they were unable to diagnose the problem. Do not buy a Chrysler minivan until this is addressed, they take responsibility for this daner, and there is a recall. Car has less than 40k miles. Most recently happened when travelling at about 20mph, while pulling out of a parking lot and into traffic on a busy road, temperature outside is 40f. City street. Car was already warm (had been driven about 10-miles prior to this happening. I'm only allowed to check three items for part of the car affected, but other systems were also effected including lighting, peed control, wipers, power seats, steering, elec stability control, air bags, tire pressure sensors, and other electrical systems.

*note reporting three different discrepancies dates included* after driving vehicle approximately 1 mile, vehicle which was in motion began to stutter and eventually stalled out. The stall caused the vehicle to lose brake function and power steering. Vehicle was put in park and restarted, vehicle resumed with normal function and operation. Incident occurred 12/1/17 while driving on a highway, the vehicles transmission became stuck in 3rd gear and would not shift. I was forced to drive vehicle at an extremely high rpm to maintain highway speed in order to exit highway at a safe location. Again I put vehicle in park and restarted it. The vehicle resumed normal operation. Incident occurred 11/24/17 while stationary the vehicles left passenger sliding door will not go in to lock position while attempting to close causing door to cycle repeatedly. It is a necessity to manually push the door closed or it will continue this cycle indefinitely. Incident occurs daily.
