I love the town and country van, and this is my 3th car - my 2016, I have this car since new, right now it has 80,000 miles and 2 weeks ago it started with a light ticking noise in the engine (when engine is on in park or driving), and now it is getting worse over the week - I took my car to dealer and the cost will be around $1000 usd - dealer mentioned that this is a known issue from the manufacturer and too many cars affected, and it becuse on engine pentastar with 3. 6lts the camshaft has a loose roller balancing (original part#: 0518. 4296 ah008) which is doing the noise - the part price is a couple dollar, but the labor it is expensive) - I need your support to fix this issue on my car.

3 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 05/13/2020

My van started making a clicking noise while on and was pulling a code for misfires in the engine. It turned out to be a common known condition causing metal in the oil system. I still owe $8500. 00 on this van. I am a single mother of three and now will be upside down on a car that I love. I spoke to different mechanics who agreed it happens in this models engine. I believed Chrysler to be top quality product and never imagined that I would be on the other end of a call telling me that my top quality car is not what I thought it was. I am extremely disappointed and have feel it needs reported so other families do not have to go through the same financial burden that I am.

6 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

I've listed a date below I don't recall the exact date, don't recall the exact mileage, or the exact speed everything listed herein is approximate, if it had happened all day everyday then I could've remembered, but the following has happened on multiple occasions both in winter and in summer. 1. Vehicle has stopped on me while driving multiple times, doesn't otherwise seem to drive rough, it has also stalled on me while driving and I make "y" turns or am driving and stop at a stop sign. I put the van back in park, and it will start back up. It doesn't happen while the car is in park. Sometimes there is a burning smell that is similar to the smell of an airplane. 2. Ticking noise when I start and continues while I'm driving and increases as I accelerate. 3. Heat and a/c will turn on, on its own, turns on the rear first, and then the front seats after, I can turn it off and it will repeat the process (I've actually recorded it happening). 4. Left passenger door closes on its own, won't stay open, clicking noise even if it's closed. 5. Interior lights and radio will flicker and go dim then bright (as if switching from night to daytime throughout the whole time I'm driving frequently happens).

9 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 03/27/2019

Exactly one year ago my van (72,000 miles) started misfiring / idling rough (code: p0301), I changed the coil and spark plug in cylinder 1. This did not correct the problem. A short time after the engine started making a loud ticking noise. I still had miles left on my warranty so took it for service. The dealer replaced both cam shafts, 12 rocker arms and 12 tappet-valve lash on the back side. This repaired the issue until a couple months later - the oil filter housing started leaking. Repaired that, another huge issue. Now as of yesterday, the van is showing (code: p0304) misfiring and idling rough. I now fear the same issue is brewing on the front side (cylinders 2,4,6).

Vehicle is only 3 years old and started making a constant clicking noise that would speed up with the speed of the car in addition to that the rpm shoots up butvehicle struggles to speed up, took it in to get looked at, the engine and transmission are going out and is going to cost more to fix than the car is worth. Also the air bag in the passenger head rest exploded earlier in the year while the vehicle was moving and was not in an accident, and the back passenger door will mechanically open but not shut. 2013 Chrysler town and country Mini van VIN no. (xxxxx) 68,543 miles fuel injection returnless, sequential. Chrysler 3. 6 engine fuel pressure codes that I have had and still having: p0153,p0153,p0175,p0300,p0302 the cylinder head problem in the Chrysler pentastar 3. 6l engine affects the left bank containing cylinder number two. Symptoms first appear as a ticking sound coming from that cylinder, followed by misfire conditions, loss of power and possible stalling. The design flaw is reportaly fixed in models manufactured from 2012 but it is believed that 7,500 earlier vehicles may be susceptible to left cylinder head cracks. Chrysler has extended the five year/100,000 mile warranty to ten years or 150,000 miles on the left cylinder head of vehicles prone to the failure. Warranty bulletin d-14-12 of June 10, 2014, is available from dealers and contains details of which vehicles are covered. Left cylinder head has lots of noise . . . No noise on right cylinder head also stalling and misfire visited dealership on 8-24-2018 and said that my VIN no. Does not apply to my van for above extended warranty. Cost to repair will be more than $2000. 00.

15 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2013 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

My engine had a ticking noise for a couple of days when I was at a stop sign or red light. I was going to address it on my upcoming oil change, but on my way home with my family early January, while driving on a major highway, I had the van shake very violently and start loosing power on highway 422, I was nearly involved in an major car accident due to the sudden loss of power. The check engine light came on and it was struggling to gain any speed to be able to get home. The van would not go past 35-40 miles. I was going to take it to anthony d'ambrosio Chrysler in elverson, PA but they were backed up for a couple of days so I found a delaer with immediate openings, quigley Chrysler in boyertown, PA where my van has been sitting for over a month. I was told that my vehicle had cylinder #2 misfire and gave them code p0302 along with p0300. I was told that this would be covered under warranty by my dealer as it is under original powertrain warranty and also Chrysler is aware of vehicles with that 3. 6 penstar engine having those issues which eventually cause a head malfunction. I was told that I needed to change my spark plugs and ignition coil which make no sense to me as I was told by my dealer and the service manual that spark plugs are to be changed at 100k miles. I have reached out to Chrysler at least 2 times a week for the last month and always keep getting a promised call back from a supervisor/manager to address the issue but have yet to get anyone to ever call me back in the last 30+ days. I need my van fixed ASAP as I only have one other vehicle and was not even offered a loaner while they fixed and addressed this issue.

19 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/11/2015

As we were driving at about 30 mph the van started to accelerate on its own. It revved up to 70 mph then to 50 then to 20 then back up to 70. We couldn't control the speed with gas pedal or the brake pedal. We were just gliding. I told my wife to put it into nuetral and tap on brake pedal till we finally slowed down. We then turned van off and let it sit. We then called are mechanics as we just had a transmission flush done. Of course they found nothing wrong with it because it wasn't doing it for them. We trust our mechanics as we have been using them for years now on all our vehicles and have never had a problem until this van. The next day we are sitting at a light and the van is jumping like it wants to go and a loud clunk noise happens like its shifting gears. Then the following morning my wife is getting in van to take kids to school and turns on van and it turns itself off. Our mechanics had this van for 2 days and have drove it with there computers hooked up to it and no red flags. The main mechanic says it's probably the computer. After further research on this van I now have found this is a very common problem with this make, model, year. Yet nothing has been done to resolve it. This is a major safety issue that apparently Chrysler is aware of but would rather make $1200 off consumers then fix on there own. Clearly my safety and my families safety isn't a concern for them. We drive almost an hour on the highway every other week. Now I have to be worried this van won't drive my family into another vehicle because its taking over and we have no way of stopping it.

Notice loud clunking noise shift from park to drive, or park to reverse. Not every time, but often enough. Also shift to/from to her gears is noticeable and gives the feel of hesitation. This is most often noticed around 37 mph or 30 mph. Went is cold the car act up . It is having troubles also getting hot the engine and I have the car for 5 month and I had to fill the coolant twice. I brought the car 5 time to the place where I bought the car 4 times to report the problem with the transmission they send me to one of the Chrysler dealer for service and did not show nothing on the diagnosis. I am frustrated because I research online iand I am not the only one complaining about the same problem. Aslo the suspension feels very weak.

First time driving vehicle from dealership to home approx 100 miles a loud clanking noise was heard at low speeds during initial acceleration and deceleration. 24 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 11/16/2013

We purchased this 2011 Chrysler town and country as a new vehicle in Jan. Of 2012. Since the purchase there have been 5 incidents where the van has lost all electrical power making clicking noises, and leaving us stranded. The final incident happened on Dec. 26,2014 while traveling in the mountains of north carolina. It was 10:30 pm, no street lights and nothing but steep terrain on the sides. The vehicle completely shut down and was making the clicking noises. The power steering was lost, headlights off and all other electrical functions were unavailable. Once in complete darkness we noticed we had shifted into the oncoming lane of traffic. We noticed headlights coming at us in the distance, luckily quick thinking and use of a flashlight we were able to warn the oncoming vehicle of our position in their lane. They stopped in front of our vehicle and turned on their hazards to provide warning for other vehicles. Being that we were in imminent danger, I had to disconnect the battery and let the system reset. After taking it to the dealership they once again said they could not find a problem. The dealership only stated, " have it towed in when it happens". Being that the last 2 times this happened we were left stranded in traffic, during late hours with absolutely no electrical power and my children in the car, it was impossible to wait to be towed in. They were unsafe situations that potentially had fatal results. I had to make the best decision at the time to protect my family. I am beyond frustrated with Chrysler for allowing me to leave the shop every time with no solution to the problem. My kids are afraid to get in van for fear of breaking down yet again. Five incidents with no resolution, no one knows how to fix the problem! a recurrent problem that can happen at any point- while on a highway or getting through a busy intersection.

25 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 02/15/2013

Started with erratic jumping of instrument needles synchronous with electrical popping in sound system and flickering of all lights. Has gotten progressively worse to now, killing the engine suddenly while under power conditions, leaving vehicle without power steering and necessitating shifting to neutral while at full road speed, and restarting the engine to regain operative control, all while in operation on the road in traffic. This has happened on four occasions during the past three weeks to this date. Vehicle also has electrical "hiccups" resulting in disengagement of transmission under operating conditions, which has so far (six incidences) re-engaged within ten seconds pursuant. This morning, July 11, 2013, while awaiting a traffic light, the engine killed and the entire system locked up for several minutes, including inability to move shifter, no respponse to key in ignition; complete shutdown. Approximately four to five minutes later, it suddenly unlocked, was able to be put in neutral and restarted, and driven away with no indication of any difficulty, as if nothing had happened. All of the above events have been similaly intermittent and unpredictable. It is apparent to me that something is defective in this vehicle, and I have encountered several other owners of Chrysler trucks and minivans who have experienced some or all of the a bove. Chrysler should be accountable for the parts it installs in it's products and needs to address and correct these very real and expensive safety hazards at the first possible moment.

27 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 1997 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 06/15/2003

Somewhere between 82,000 & 86,000 miles, my engine began making a ticking sound. Since I was due for an oil change, I took the van in to a nearby shop for an oil change. The first thing the mechanic called me about was an oil leak. . . He thought the head gasket was blown and was calling for my authorization. When he removed the valve cover, he called back to inform me that I had a broken head. Somehow, one of the stanchions that holds the rocker arm assembly had broken off and the rocker arm next to that stanchion was loose and causing the clicking sound. Neither he nor I had never heard of that type of part failure and I went to the shop to see what he had found. The stanchion was broken through about 1/4 inch below the rocker arm. In my mind, since a head is a solid block of cast aluminum, this was not a part that should wear out or have to be replaced. The engine had never overheated, et cetera. In quoting the repair estimate, the mechanic informed me that since the head was broken, in addition to the cost of purchasing a reconditioned head, I would also have to pay a $200. 00 core charge since my broken head could not be exchanged and reconditioned. To my way of thinking, since the head shouldn't have broken in such a manner anyway, the core charge was unfair. My belief was that this is either a casting or design flaw and regardless of the fact that I was 16,000 miles over the warranty, this type of breakage should not have happened. I then went to the Dodge dealership service department to see if Chrysler corp. Was helping consumers with this type of problem. He then put me in touch with the service manager. I learned a few more things from the service manager. First, since my vehicle was out of warranty, he was certain that Chrysler would not help in any way with the repairs. When they recondition the heads, they now insert a shaft through the stanchions to provide additional strength to prevent these breaks.

28 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

Failure Date: 08/05/2002

The vehicle stalled without warning. As the consumer pulled into the parking space, the vehicle stalled without warning, then the vehicle was placed in park, restarted, and continued into the parking space. On another occasion the vehicle into reverse, the vehicle stalled without warning, restarted the vehicle, placed in drive and stalled again. There was an intermittent click noise when the pedal is depressed, the a/c fan noise, the suspension felt loose and leaned to left, uneven tire wear, clunk noise in the front end when coming to a stop, when turning, and pulling into a parking space, the tires meet a resistance, the gas pedal vibrated, and there was a groaning noise in the steering wheel and or the engine when turning or when in reverse. The motor mount was installed incorrectly and was repositioned properly. Scc.
