Front Seat Belt Buckle Assembly Problems of Dodge Caravan

All seat belts in 1998 Dodge Caravan popped out when latched.

The vehicle is equipped with gen3 seat belts which has a release button which protrudes from the rest of the buckle. The button can be accidentally y bumped which causes the buckle to release. The consumer contacted the manufacturer about the buckle but they refused to replace the seat belts.

I bought a used vehicle from a dealership. The front passenger side buckle seemed to be defective and usually didn't latch at all.

Upon reading information about the past failures of the gen 3 seat belt I went to my 2000 Dodge Caravan sport and sat in the seat put the seat belt on and dropped a light shoe on the seat buckle. I immediately snapped open, and I was stunned. This is my second Caravan and I had always thought that it was a safe vehicle to transport my self ,my husband and my 4 children in. I now feel very differently.

Front seat belts are different from driver's seat to passenger's seat. Both have trouble getting them released, when exiting vehicle seat belt would not unlock and consumer was forced to slide out. Dealer notified. Ts. . .

Seatbelt in middle position of backseat has come unbuckled 3 times. Child safety seat is installed in this seat. Vehicle has not been examined by dealer.

I am outraged at daimler chryslers gen-3 seatbelts! it is ridiculous not to recall these seatbelts that can be unlatched so easy. At any one point I have 5 children in my vehicle, 2-3 in child car-seats and now I don't even want to drive it anymore!! I haven't had any incidences of this, but now that I know it can happen, I am scared for my childrens lives! please consider all of the evidence in the situation regarding these useless seat belts and make an honorable judgement.

There exists a recall on the seat belt retractors which is being honored by the dealer, however, the latching receptacle on the passenge side has failed. It does not latch securely and will release of its own volition. The dealer wants to charge for a new latch and while the cost is not exorbitant, I feel this is a safety item and should be factory warranted without limit. If I were the company I would far rather repalce an item such as this as opposed to being subject to a lawsuit for someone injured or killed due to failure.

At a sudden stop seat belts came undone.

We were involved in a mild roll-over on I-94 near tomah, wis. We slid on black ice and upended into the snow bank. No injuries. My wife was restrained in mid seat, r side. As car rolled she slid off end of seat out of locked seat belt system ending up unrestrained on the roof. We have contacted tanner motors and will be talking to.

Rear seat belts on Dodge minivans do not have the required (9/1/1995) locking devices needed for proper carseat installation.

The safety seats in my van have defective latch plates! the latch plates that I'm referring too is the plate that is right at the child's armpit level. This latch plate when pulled on will pull completely apart. I believe that this is unsafe for my son to ride in. I have read a lot on child seat safety and it is very important to me. I velieve that with the knowledge I have in this area that in a car wreak this latch plate would pull apart and my son could be very seriously injured or even killed. He would probably be thrown between the two shoulder belts instead of being held between them. I have reported this to Chrysler and they have replaced my buckles 5 time. They do not consider this to be a defect yet I do! I have had to purchase my son a century car seat. All 5 of the buckles that I was given all had the same problem. I don't know how they think a child would be safe! I fear that there are other children riding in these integrated car seats and there parents are unaware of the problems with these latch plates and that there children are unsafe. I would hate to see any child hurt because of this problem. I still have a couple of the buckles if y ou would like to see them please let me know and I'll be glad to get them to you!!! thank you for taking the time to listen! The seatbelt holding my child's carseat came unlatched twice - prior to the "primetime" show on abc.

On at least 2 occasions the middle left seatbelt of my Dodge Caravan has unfastened. I didn't have any explanation at the time and assumed it must have accidentally been hit. It restrains my child's safety seat, which I believe is properly installed. After viewing a report on primetime on abc, I was made aware that my van has seatbelts in the middle and back seats that are being questioned for possible failure. I believe that I may have experienced the locks being released due to sensitivity.

I would like to know what consumers can do to get replacements for the gen3 seatbelts which have been tested as unsafe according to the abc news report. The seatbelts can unlock in an accident. Please do something to have these vehicles recalled.

The front bench seat belt on the passenger side did not latch properly. The seat belt became unlatched 3 times, while driving with the consumer's child in the car seat, which caused the child to fall out and hit the floor.
