Failure Date: 04/15/2018

Ok. I've only had this vehicle for 2 1/2 year and I've found after a year, it was hard to keep gas in the vehicle even though I filled it up at times, it would still go out , the doors have gotten jammed, the windows stuck because of heat, last year the seat belts in the back stopped working and now I have a transmission problem and the vehicle will only go backwards. I never knew those things could happen to this vehicle. Also the alarm no longer works after 2 years. I have to take the key out just to open the vehicle. When I got the vehicle , there was a cd stuck in it and radio didn't work and couldn't be fixed.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 03/19/2017

I purchased a 2017 Dodge Caravan and quickly realized it is not safe for my seven year old child based on his age, height and weight!! the is only one safe position for him in the entire van and I have it documented over and over on videos that I took while having certified car seat safety experts attempt to help me safely secure my child, including safe kids worldwide (on video and in writing!!), aaa and phoenix children's hospital and several others also all on video!!!! the shoulder belts do not fit properly on my child!!! I even tried different car seat options (also on video!!). Dodge corporation insisted that I meet with the service director and service manager thinking they would have a "fix" for the problem and send me on my merry way. They were wrong!! since there was no easy "fix" Dodge closed my case and hopes that I will go away!!! there are many children that are not properly secured in this family van and parents don't even realize that their kids are not safe!!! I would appreciate someone contacting me to view my many credible videos done by qualified and certified car seat safety experts documenting the lack of safety for many children, including mine!!!.

12 Seat Belt problem of the 2008 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 07/08/2014

My parents, arthur & shirley hall received several recalls on their 08 Dodge Caravan starting in June/July of 2014. They called lithia Dodge in helena, mt (3377 us hwy 12 east helena, mt 59601). They continued to get the run around about their van. At first lithia told them they needed to have the VIN#. My father explained they already had it as it had been serviced and bought there. After no response, I emailed the owner, justin walsh on 9/23/14. He told me someone would be in contact with my elderly parents to schedule the repairs and they would also shuttle them to and from the dealership. Several months later, they are still getting the run around. A few weeks ago when they called they were told that they could bring it in and lithia would put in the recalls that they had on hand, but the others would have to wait. At one point they were told they were #7 on the list, but the next time they called they were told that they had no idea who told them this. They called one time and were told that lithia was waiting for all of the recalled parts to come in but now when they call they are told they can repair what they have. This has been going on for almost 6 months with no resolution. My father is now fighting stage 4 cancer and is unable to drive so my mother is the only driver and I feel the van is unsafe for her to drive. I have emailed the owner several times since this incident and he will no longer respond. I do have all emails to and from him saved. This is ridiculous that my elderly parents can't get a recall fixed on their van. Now there are several that need to be done including passenger restraint. Dealer's shouldn't be able to treat people like this. They also purchased their van at lithia. Please advise as what our options are. Lithia Dodge in helena is the only Dodge dealer in the vicinity.

20 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 09/30/2009

Seatbelt ceased to function. Seems to be a problem/defect with the retractor mechanism. Seatbelt in question is second row, passenger side. Had a child car seat secured in our vehicle with seat belt. Child outgrew seat, so switched out for a booster seat. Attempted to buckle child into booster seat. Seat belt locked across child's chest. I unbuckled the seat belt to re-buckle it more comfortably. The seatbelt "gave" a little slack, then froze in it's position. It no longer retracts, nor does it extend further. Concerned, because how would the broken belt have functioned had there ever been a crash? moreover, concerned about safety/functionality of other belts in the vehicle.

22 Seat Belt problem of the 1998 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 04/07/2008

Our middle row seat belts stop working. They don't retrack on their own. This is about the 4th we have to replace them both. We just replaced them in January of 07 and they don't retrack again. According to the dealer the pin or I forget what they called it snapped again. We have not been in an accident since they were replaced in January. We are afraid that even after replacing them that they will not protect or kids if god forbid we are in an accident. They keep breaking with just everyday use. Each seat belt cost around $200. 00 just for the parts and they are currently on backorder for a month and now my kids can't sit in the middle rows.

26 Seat Belt problem of the 1999 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 01/01/2004

I think that there is sufficient evidence that the generation 3 seat belts are a faulty design. I think they need to be recalled and replaced with generation 4 seat belts before another person is injured or killed. This is very important and affects all 3 of our vehicles. We have children and I am worried that something will happen to them, or me. Daimler Chrysler needs to fix this problem or we will think twice about buying anymore Chrysler vehicles. They are all that we have bought in the past!.

28 Seat Belt problem of the 2000 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 08/01/2003

I own a 2000 Dodge Caravan and am concerned about the safety of the seat belt buckle. They do not meet safety standard ('buckle release mechanism shall be designed to minimize the possibility of accidental release. ') and are dangerously prone to unlatching during auto accidents. The buckle, known as the generation 3 (gen3), may have been installed in as many as 16 million Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles. The buckle has become unlatched many times for my two childrens car seats and I know have to check them everytime I get in the car. Two women were killed and a child seriously injured in a roll-over accident Dec. 28, 2002, near beeville, texas. This brings the total number of deaths to 17 and serious injuries to 27 in accidents in which gen3 buckles are believed to have unlatched. Please issue a recall to have the seatbelt replaced with one that meet standards and will do it's job to help protect my family in an accident.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2000 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 05/12/2003

I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan and have read the articles claiming the belts to be unsafe. My family has seen this happen we have had our child's seatbelt that holds his carseat in place come unlatched and at that time we couldn't figure out why. Now that we have read the articles about it I understand how and I am concerned. Not only is it unsafe for my child but I am continuously turning around and checking the seatbelt out of concern also and this means I am taking my eyes off the road. We have e mailed Chrysler about this and haven't gotten a response from them and I have talked to the dealership about it and they just say that who ever is writing these articles are blowing it out of proportion. I don't think being concerned about my child safety is going overboard. Thank god we haven't had an accident when my child's seatbelt wasn't fastened or anything like that but I do want to have something done about these seatbelts.

33 Seat Belt problem of the 2003 Dodge Caravan

Failure Date: 04/28/2003

I am writing in response to a report that was featured on the news on 4/27/03 concerning the gen 3 seat belts on Chrysler and Dodge vehicles. I was very alarmed at the information that these seat belts can easily become unlatched with minimal pressure such as an elbow or drink container. The report also showed the "ball test" which easily disengaged the seat belt. There were several owners of vehicles featured, including a woman who lost her husband in an accident when his gen 3 seat belt unlatched during an accident and he was thrown 30 feet. Chrysler has insisted that the seat belt meets all safety standards, however it was reported that they have changed the seat belts in some of their newer model cars, including the front seat, but not the rear seat of the Caravan, I question why they would change the belt if there was no problem. I feel a serious investigation is needed to protect the safety of all drivers and passengers of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles.
