Side/rear Glass Problems of Dodge Caravan

Upon closing of drivers side door on 2005 Dodge grand Caravan the glass on the rear door shattered and sent glass flying all the way to the front of the van. The van was not running or moving. The van was not involved in any accidents or unusual use since it was purchased new by me in may of 2005. If van had been moving and had passengers in rear of van, this incident could have caused injury. Dealer and Chrysler were contacted and were nit aware of any other problems of this nature.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. While driving 30 mph, the rear driver side window shattered. On a separate occasion, while the vehicle was parked, a neighbor informed the contact that her rear window appeared to be cracking. The rear window shattered. She paid to have the window repaired during the first failure and feels that this second incident should be covered by the manufacturer because it is a safety defect. The failure mileage was 39,000 and current mileage was 40,000. Updated 06/16/08.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. While driving between 35-40 mph, the third row rear corner window exploded. The dealer stated that the repair was the contact's responsibility. The current and failure mileages were 45,301. Updated 02-25-08 updated.

Driving down freeway and the driver side sliding door glass shattered. I cannot continue to drive for fear of the glass to fall completely out. It happened on Friday evening, so I'm waiting to contact daimlerchrysler corporation on Monday morning.

Twice in the past 7 years, the rear window of my 1994 Dodge Caravan exploded while driving down the road. My research on the web shows that the NHTSA has a finding against Chrysler on this and Chrysler was supposed to have replaced all of it's stock of inferior glass. Evidentally, this wasn't done or they still have a problem. Neither I nor my insurance company should have to pay for this type of problem. The shear noise of this breakage could easily cause a reaction by the driver that could result in an accident.
