Rear window exploded without warning sending shards of glass forward in the car. Car was travelling in right lane of I-95 at approximately 70 mph. We heard a loud pop and then the sound of the shattered safety glass pieces falling in the rear of the car. There was no construction or standing vehicles on the side of the highway, no traffic immediately behind or next to us, so we do not think it was the result of anything striking the window. The photos were taken after returning home (about 50 miles after the incident). There was initially a large hole, about 12 inches in diameter, to the left of the electrical connector for the heated window (on the right - second picture). More glass fell out between the incident and the photo.

Just resolved an ignition recall problem on the vehicle because of problems with independent wipers going off, horn going off, vehicle stalling while driving and doors locking and unlocking. . Dodge replaced ignition and win module but problem began when I tried using ac or heater. . I just brought the car 2 months ago and it has stalled on hgihway 3 times and on the road numerous times. Im afraid to drive the car. The check engine light turns on but goes out intermitently. Sounds like the itpm problem everyone is having . . Cant afford another 2000 dollars to fix.

Window regulator on driver and passenger side have both failed within 1 year of one another and the vehicle has less than 65000 miles. Loosing window control does interfere with driving in adverse weather conditions. The vehicle was stationary and was being lowered and then raised normally using the window control. The window suddenly dropped very rapidly into the door frame.

Head lights dull & cracked. Front passanger seat catching not retracting. Rear window wiper just stops any posistion.
Was driving home at night when randomly my lights started flashing, horn started blaring, windshield wipers started going off, washer fluid was spraying everywhere. Locks were locking and unlocking. I ended up driving into someone's lawn as I could not see properly with poor lighting and all the distractions. Once I got home the vehicle continued to be possessed even without the key in the ignition. I was finally able to get everything to stop after unplugging the battery. Upon internet research it didn't take long to realize it was tipm fuse box issue, I have found several other customers with the same box having the same issues. I have gone to the junkyard 3 times and grabbed a used tipm fuse box replacement. The first replacement the car would not start. Second replacement there was a lot of trouble lights on the dash and the odometer did not work. With my most recent replacement the headlights don't work. So including my original tipm , that's 4 faulty tipms. Do you notice a problem or pattern here?.
Many issues, appear to be related to the tipm. Headlights intermittently stop working, as do the windshield wipers(various times, when driving/when starting the car). Car horn beeps when driver door is opened. Air conditioner/heater intermittently stops working (when driving), will usually come back on after pulling over and restarting the car. Very dangerous in the winter.
Wipers, lights, horn, door locks all seemed to go off went no warning wipers start spraying fluid by itself. Could not get to stop windows would not work, had to pull horn fuses to make horn stop blowing disconnect battery to make sure it would start to have it taken to be looked at very disappointed in vehicle only 81,500 miles on it.
Car was not running and keys were not in the ignition, they were laying on the dash. No one was in the vehicle. When the passenger's front door was opened the horn started honking and windshield washer started spraying (wipers were not activated). It lasted only a couple seconds and stopped. It also activated the driver's side mirror's auto dim feature. Once I was on the road discovered it also prevented the car from shifting out of first gear. I tried manually shifting and slipping it from drive to neutral but that had no effect. The indicator light showed no response to the manual shifting it just remained on the "d". The van did go into neutral and the indicator light showed "n". I didn't try the van again until 24hrs later and everything was working fine. After researching online I see there is an obvious problem with the tipm and will be replacing it. If this would have occured in heavy traffic there would have been a definite safety hazard issue. I was lucky it happened at home and it only lasted a few seconds. Others have not been that lucky!! this is a serious issue that if it hasn't already it very easily could have deadly consequences. Make the recall!!.
All the warning lights on the dash light up, the wipers start and can't be stopped, all the windows won't go up or down, the door locks won't work and worst of all the gas gauge, speedometer, and other dash indicators go dead showing no action. This all happens unannounced at any time driving or still. It can happen with just turning the key on to start the car. The most recent time, 2/10/16 the dealer repair said there were a total of 24 different codes saved that did conflict with each other.

Vehicle wipers and washers start on their own, horn will blow, lights flicker, door locks open and close, vehicle will not shut off or sometimes will not start. This has happened both while driving and stationary.
While driving in rain storm with cruise control, wipers, lights, and radio on power to controls would turn off. Engine was still running and systems came back on after turning off radio, lights for awhile.
Windshield wipers come on all by themselves and can not be turned off. All gauges on front dash short in and out, including blinkers. Difficult to concentrate on driving when the wipers are going, there's a alert "ding" sound going off, and gauges are going crazy on the front dash. Dealership states that it is tipm module and want $900 to replace it.
Wipers come on and stays on without being turned on bright lights inoperable, low beams stay on door locks by themselves.

When clicking off my high beams, my wipers came on. I was unable to shut them off. At the same time my high beams, turn signals and rear wiper stopped working. While my front wipers were going non-stop despite being shut off, the washer fluid did not work (front and back). When I took it to my garage I was told the tipm had to be replaced but it was currently on national back order and they didn't know when they could get their hands on one. For the time being I have had to make due with disconnecting the battery for 7-10 minutes and then all systems work again, I am not sure how long this will work for but currently the only option.

Driving in the early morning, road conditions were wet, slight drizzle, misty, very humid. Radio began flickering along with air conditioner and winshield wipers. After a few minutes, front dashboard went dark. The following systems stopped functioning: fan (including air conditioner) windshield wipers radio 12v outlet forced to pull over into a hotel for the remainder of the morning until sensor/fuse box was able to dry out. Once dry, all systems operated normally. Please note the air bad sensor was on at the same time as per NHTSA# 10v00800.

We pulled out at night and started driving when suddenly and without warning the exterior headlights and fog lights started flashing, the interior warning lights started flashing, the wind shield wipers started going on and off, the windshield washer fluid started spraying, the lights on teh gauges were flashing, and the ignition started "dinging" like when you turn it on. Granted this was at night so we lost headlights for several seconds at a time until we could get stopped. I had my 4 year old daughter in the car and my wife. Luckily we weren't going very fast and were able to get pulled over without being involved in a wreck. After turning the car on and off a couple of times and checking under the hood the problem ceased. Fast forward a few months. Similar incident occurred during the daytime. Basically the exact same issue as above. Luckily this was during the day and the headslights aren't as important. Once again after turning the vehicle on and off a couple of times and getting out of the vehicle to check under the hood it ceased. Fast forward a few weeks. Issue occurred once again during the day. At this point we refused to drive the vehicle at night as we deemed it unsafe at night with the potential that we could lose lights while driving 60 mph and have zero visibility. We were never able to get the lights to stop going on and off and the issue with the van is still occurring. I've read similar stories from other Dodge owners and most have never been able to solve the issue even after spending thousands of dollars. This is going to seriously hurt or kill someone and a search regarding the lights flashing online for Dodge Caravans around this year makes it clear that there is a serious issue regarding the van. I also checked and Dodge claims the other recalls have already been done on this van.
2008 Dodge Caravan sxt, experiencing wipers with fluid coming on randomly with lights flashing, doors locking and unlocking and horn blowing erratically. I have also experienced the tpms, abs and traction control lights coming on and off while driving.
I was driving the van on the highway and it went crazy horn blaring windshield wipers going real slow and fluid going everywhere I could not see because the fluid was coming out faster then wipers were going!!! I had to pull over until all the windshield fluid was gone. When I got home my husband had to unhook the battery because the horn was still blaring and it was 10. 30 at night and I have neighbors with children sleeping.
Driving approximately 35-40 mph, van shut down completely however, horn, wipers, wiper fluid, door locks went crazy. Was able to pull to the side of the road. Horn and electric stopped after approximately 5 minutes. After waiting a few minutes, I was able to start the car again and make it home. Car wouldn't start again. Had it towed to the dealer who replaced the battery and cable connector ($300). Also found more brake and axle seal issues at a cost of $1,000. Drove the vehicle for approximately 40 miles (to and from work) without problem. Went for a short errand, driving 35 mph, car jerked, wipers went halfway and horn started blaring, wipers and fluid went crazy again, and car stalled. Neighbor was able to disconnect the horn but car wouldn't shut off. Neighbors called police (embarrassing). Car wouldn't shut off (opposite problem from when the car shut down before repair. ) drove the car home where it is now waiting for a tow. Beyond frustrated and angry because my 16 year old daughter was driving the during the second incident. Called Dodge corporate where "[xxx]" was less than empathetic and told me that there were a lot of miles on the vehicle, as if this makes it okay. No apologies. Car is a lemon. Three brake jobs during the life of the vehicle. This will be my 3rd tow in 6 months. This could have caused a severe accident had the car shut down on a busy highway. Additionally, vision is impaired due to windshield washer fluid spewing.
8/24 - the van was parked in a parking lot with my husband & son sitting in it. Another driver came to claim their nearby Dodge Caravan & beeped open his van, at that point our wipers started going full speed & the fluid shot up. It stopped for a minute then started going full strength again with the horn going non-stop, the lights all started flashing, & the doors all locked. The key fob was in the ignition but in the off position. My husband tried unlocking the doors with the key fob (pulled out of the ignition), tried using the indoor unlock button but all was unsuccessful. We were able to manually open the doors from the inside. All of this kept going for about 5 mins until I climbed in the back to open the side doors to air out the car & get my 2 year old out. When I manually unlocked the driver side back door everything stopped. We were able to drive home without further incident that day. 8/25 - we were driving back to chicago when the wipers did the same thing but nothing else. 8/26 - I was driving to work when all the doors unlocked & all the warnings on the control panel lit up. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and when I started driving again the rpm started going crazy like it couldn't shift gear. I pulled over again, turned the van off & let it sit for a few minutes. I was able to continue my drive to work & got home ok.
On a highway ramp entering the highway the horn on my van started to blow on & off, at the same time the windshield wipers were wiping & the spray was spewing at me at high speed. The lights blinked on and off & the door locks were going up & down. The radio was blasting as well. I came to a stop before entering the highway to try & figure things out but nothing worked. For 5-8 minutes I sat there in fear it would catch on fire. I put in in park, turned it off & took the keys out. It continued to do all the activity with the keys in my hand! when it stopped & I tried to starting it. It started & ran ok till it happened not more than 15 minutes latter on my way to the dealer. This time it lurched forward at a faster speed with everything wiping, blowing, spewing & blinking which caused me to drop it into neutral & brake to a stop in the median. This time when it became quite it wouldn't start again & was towed to the dealer. They saw the codes it left but couldn't determine the cause. They said they could keep it thru the weekend & try again on Monday or I could take it & bring it back when it did it again. This is the car I drive my family in all the time. Myself & 4 young girls plus friends. Although I am thankful to have only had to pay for towing I am very upset that they couldn't find the cause. I am essentially driving a ticking time bomb. This could happen again at any time, anywhere & with a car full of kids! I have said from day 1 that the van had electrical problems & no one took me serious. The only thing the dealer found that raised a red flag was that the windshield wipers come on when you use the turn signal - this has been a chief complaint all along. My family has had Dodges for a long time, have been loyal customers & employees. We expect better from a company we've grown to depend on & refer others to for their next vehicle.
Today I was on an urban freeway in heavy downpour. The downpour was so heavy rain could be seen running off the road. Traffic was wide spread, but moving at 45-50 mph, due to the rain. My wipers, at the highest setting, slow down. Car dings. Battery light comes on. I turn off the defroster (ac and ventilation), reduce wiper speed setting, switch from headlights to running lights, all to reduce electrical load. I then notice that the power steering has failed. It was really scary. True fear. The fear which we do not often encounter. I safely got the vehicle off the freeway. No further failure of systems. I drove the vehicle to the nearest shop I knew of, with caution lights on. I there learned that the accessory belt had come off of the engine, due to the rain. The belt was still in good condition, so they slid the same belt back on. I will have my preferred mechanic install an "anti slip" tensioner, belt, and pulley this weekend. This issue, the serpentine belt slipping off the engine in rain and snow, is known to chysler, and known to the NHTSA. But it was not known to me until it threatened my safety, and the safety of the motorists around me. If I had begun going around a curve while switching off accessories, driving one handed with a failed power steering system before I knew it had failed, I could have wrecked. Why one handed? because I was turning off accessories because I didn't understand what was wrong, because the warning the car provided suggested that was what I should be doing to keep my car from stalling. I don't know why NHTSA decided this did not merit a recall. They were wrong. I am very thankful that money (to implement the technical service bulletin nhsta won't share) can fix what went wrong today. Don't operate a gen iii Chrysler minivan without a belt upgrade. We cannot control when it rains.

There were no visible flames. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the rear window power switch would need to be replaced. The mechanic disabled and removed the power window switch. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 69,795. Kmj.
When I put the key in the ignition switch sometimes it will not turn allowing me to start the car. When I called the Dodge dealer they said that this is a common problem. They told me to insert the key pull it towards me then insert a flat head screw driver in the key and tap 2 to 3 times then turn the key. I works like that each time but the symtoms match those described in tv ads prompting danger of having the engine shut down when unsuspecting and causing accidents. What can be done? john aki. Duval.
We have a 2008 Caravan when the weather is cod outside the dash lights come on and off and the wippers come on by themselves while the seat belt chime keeps going off. Can't find any answers on what the problem is and why it only does this when cold.
I have had 2 rear windows shot out by a stone that was slung by a string type weed. Eater. Both times the windows completely shattered. The only glass left were the pieces glued to the hinges. The car was parked both times. If anyone had been in the back seat, it is likely that they would have glass in their eyes. I thought automobile glass was supposed to be shatter resistant.
