The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated while operating the windshield wipers, the blade became dislodged from the wiper and caused several small scratches on the windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure yet the failure persisted. On one occasion, the dealer replaced the wipers and they did not fit correctly, causing the wipers to bend when activated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 64,826.

Windshield wipers have become intermittent and getting worse to the point of not coming on until the vehicle has been on for a half hour. This happened after the panel lights such as for the ac unit etc began to blink at a constant rate and then they steady out after 20 minutes. Have gone to two Dodge dealerships. First one had me pay for and replace multi-function switch and it did not fix the problem. Second dealer said I have to order a $500 body control module computer plus labor and it may not solve the problem and they said it is a non-refundable expense even if they cannot fix the wipers. It is extremely dangerous to not have wipers working and I feel irresponsible that a computer is necessary for the wipers to work. The ntsb should have the authority to order Dodge to fix this situation at Dodge's expense since it is an obvious serious design flaw.

Windshield wipers do not function properly; intermittent mode will sometimes run constant, or will stop completely in the middle of the windshield and will not immediately come back on. Twice, in the past month, I have had to abruptly pull off the road because of not being able to see through the windshield. This is extremely dangerous and will most certainly cause an accident at some point in time, if it already hasn't. The dealership (white bear Dodge, in mn) suggested I replace the multi function switch, which I did and paid $273. 45, but it did not correct the problem. Also, after very little time researching this exact problem via message boards and forums on the internet, it is quite apparent to me that this is a common problem on many year, makes and models of Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler Mini vans. I purchased this car in Nov. 2004 and have experienced this problem each time it has rained, or snowed.

My windshield wipers turn on even in the off position and I have had to remove the fuse so that they won't run continuously. I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan. The dealer can't seem to find the problem. I now have to drive without any windshield wipers or if it is raining I have to stop and open the hood and put the fuse back in. . . Then they run continuously. This is very dangerous and I have noticed on the internet that I am not the only one with this problem. The dealer is now ordering a part called a bcm which costs $500 in hopes that it will fix the problem but they are not sure.
The consumer was driving and the windshield wipers turned on by themselves, and run erratically, and will not shut off at the correct position. When it's raining, wipers cannot be controlled. The dealer told consumer that similar make, model and year vehicle have experienced the same problem.

Windshield wipers intermittently turn on by themself while driving. This occurs more frequently when the turn signal is engaged. Dealership urged consumer to replace the wiper motor arms and the bcm. While driving the vehicles windshield wipers came on by themselves.
The windshield wipers failed while driving in inclement weather. The body control module was replaced.
The windshield wipers became stuck together during an out of town trip. There was a hard rain and we were driving along the interstate with many other personal and commercial vehicles when we encountered the problem. We were forced to pull off the road and manually disengage the wiper blades from one another. We then proceeded toward our destination when the same problem occurred again. Upon our return home our vehicle was taken to the dealer and the incident was reported. The service personnel seemed very disinterested and simply replaced the blades with cheap refills. We were told that new wiper blades were being ordered but we have yet to hear from anyone (one month later). We have contacted the dealer on several occations but we have not received a response. Their service after the sell is extremely lousy to say the least!
still waiting.

On two of the three occasions, the windshield wipers failed to work in a rainstorm. After both incidents, the vehicle was taken to the dealership. The service technician and the mechanic witnessed the failure but it did not persist. They told me that they can't diagnose the problem until there is a total failure. I sent an e-mail to Dodge headquarters, and they said there was nothing they could do about it. What am I supposed to do? have an accident because my wipers decide to quit in a rainstorm?.
Windshield wipers were inoperative. When driving in the rain, windshield wipers did not come on resulting in poor visibility.
Windshield wipers quit working with no prior warning. Mechanic stated did 21 point test and jiggled wire to get windshield wipers working again.

Wipers stop during torrential downpours almost causing crashes or remain on after ignition is turned off. 2 neighbors with same vans have same problems! interior lights flicker when doors are open.
Wipers turn on unexpectedly, under various circumstances, without the switch being touched, runs for only a few swipes, then it shuts off again. This happens in wet or dry conditions, with the vehicle sitting still or in motion, occasionally occurs upon starting. Initially this would occur infrequently, maybe once a week, now almost daily. Usually it is only one swipe, but more recently this has gotten worse, with as many as 4 swipes without warning or demand. We suspect the operating switch is the culprit. This vehicle was bought "used" from the listed dealer and there is no readily apparent warranty or related factory recall.
