I filled my gas tank (but did not top it off with fuel) and left the gas station at the first intersection. The car stalled while braking, the car came back on, accelerated against brakes, died again and wouldn't turn over afterward. Had to turn the car all the way off and back on to restart the car, only to have it do it three more times on the way home. It feels like a serious accident waiting to happen. I read up on the issue and found that it's very common. Dodge needs to fix this problem. We paid for a vehicle to safely transport us -- this is not safe.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. While driving on the freeway at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the failure occurred every time the vehicle was refueled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and the power control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000.
This problem started about a year age. At first it was once ever 3 months now it happening more often. On 1/14/2014 after filling the gas tank the car stalled nearly being rear ended on the expressway. This problem getting worse and worse everytime. This problem is going to take someones life in an accident.
My 2006 Dodge Charger has began to stall after a gas fill-up. It is very scary because it does not matter how fast you are driving. I had it stall about 5 times after filling up today. One in which I was going 40 mph. The steering wheel locks up and it is very dangerous. I am very concerned for the safety if myself and family.
While driving from point a to point b approximately 17 miles, this vehicle stalled 7 times. Mostly stalling while at a light it has increased to while driving as well. One time specific in the middle of an intersection causing a back up in traffic and near accident. While understanding this issue has mainly been investigated and reported after fill up, this instance is not. This is a daily issue that demands attention. Mechanical techs cannot figure out what the problem is even after replacing the engine and transmission. According to my research this apparently has happen enough without resolution but how many close calls are going to turn to fatalities before something is done? it shouldn't have to come to injuries or worse for this common problem to be resolved. Thank you for your time.
Car stalls after filling gas tank, at speed or idling. No codes or other indications.
My daughter after fueling up her 2006 Dodge Charger rt and while leaving the fueling station, the car stalled in traffic. Several attempts to start with no success. After receiving assistance moving the vehicle to a safe parking place, the car started, but ran extremely rough. After about five minutes the engine smooth out. This problem would happen only after filling up with fuel. Tried fueling up at different fueling stations, same results. The engine seems to would shut off always as you are attempting to get into traffic. Had our mechanic check the vehicle out the first time, they cleaned all to do with injectors and housing ect. Still the problem exist. Worry with this car and my daughter driving it with the potential to stall in traffic. Since the problem started, the vehicle has stalled from fueling up approximately 15 times.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to multiple independent mechanics who were unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90, 000. Oo.
I have owned the car for only a week. It's a beautiful car with a 5. 7 hemi. The first time I fueled the vehicle it stalled as I re entered traffic without warning. It stalled several times within a 4 block area but would restart each time. With a 16 year old son now driving I am concerned that he might not be able to react appropriatly. I'm going to call the dealership.

Filled vehicle with 10% ethanol 87 octane gasoline at self-service station on September 19, 2014. Drove away and vehicle stalled at first intersection. I put the vehicle in neutral and started it with no further problems until I filled tank again after about 250 miles. (I was driving a 1500 mile trip from one state to another. ) every time I refilled the tank, the vehicle would stall within a few hundred feet of filling station. This stalling has continued through yesterday, September 29, 2014, and I am concerned it will happen again when I refill the tank. If the vehicle stalls at the wrong time, someone could be seriously hurt or killed.
I learned about the fuel tank warranty and will be getting that repaired, but my issue is at 75 to 100% throttle my car will stall out. But my car starts back up on its own like nothing ever happened. When it stalls it throws you forward like the car is braking and then when it fires back up you can hit the throttle and it will go as normal.
After filling gas tank completely, car started stalling going down the road. Continued to stall at stop light and in parking lot and would not stay running unless hitting the gas pedal. Problem seemed to resolve itself after a few miles. Same exact issue has happened multiple times over the last few months, but only when filling the gas tank completely. When only putting partial amount into tank, this issue does not seem to be an issue. Have done research online and it seems to be a common problem with the 2006 Charger and 2 other Chrysler models. Spoke with firestone in columbus GA and was advised there was a service bulletin regarding this issue and that my gas tank needed to be replaced. Contacted a Dodge dealership in columbus GA over 2 months ago and was advised fuel tank is on national back order.
My car was using way too much gas compared to what it used to and was running poorly so I took it in for a tune up. The filters, plugs, fluids, etc. Were done. About two weeks after the tune up I began to have trouble. At first I thought it was the shop that had done the tune up but after reading hundreds of letters from other people, I know now that it is the car. This is what happens: when I began to accelerate after stopping at stop sign, my car lost all power and died within two blocks of the stop sign. The car started up and seemed fine. Approximately a week and a half later, again, I was accelerating from a stop sign and the car stalled about 4 blocks from the stop sign. This continued to happen intermittently until september15, 2014, when the car died when I was approaching the stop sign and had to be towed. I have 5 grandchildren that I transport daily and this car is just not safe to do so anymore. Thank goodness I have not gone out of town with a car load of children and have this happen.
I have experienced a number of incidents where the vehicle while moving at a slow speed (typically in city traffic) the vehicle will jerk forward and the engine light will ding. Sometimes the car will push through and keep moving other times it will stall completely and need to be restarted. This has been incredibly dangerous as it has happened getting on highways from on ramps. Once I restart the car all seems to be fine but its completely unpredictable and very dangerous!.
In may 2014 I recieved a letter from Chrysler in regards to the faulty fuel tank in my 2006 Dodge Charger rt. They wrote to let me know that they are aware of a faulty fuel shut-off float in my gas tank that will cause the vehicle to stall. I called to schedule the repair and was told that Chrysler is only sending out one fuel tank per dealership per week and that I was 7th in line to have my work performed. So that meant that I would have to drive a vehicle that was continually cutting off for 2 months even before they would fix it. I called Chrysler to inquire why it would take so long to fix a problem that they know is causing numerous vehicles to cut off and they said that the parts are on backorder. I indicated to them that I had come close to having numerous accidents because my vehicle was stalling in traffic and yet they didnt seem to care one iota. After waiting 2 months for my time in line to come around I called the dealership to see when the work would be able to be done and was told that I was next in line but the part was still on backorder and could not have my vehicle fixed yet. They could not give me an estimate as to when they would be able to get the parts in. I find it very hard to fathom that a major automaker such as Chrysler/Dodge, knowing about a problem with their vehicles that are causing them to shut off in traffic and are not expediting the process of having those vehicles fixed. I have been very lucky thus far by not having a very serious accident due to my car stalling but I fear that someone else may not be so lucky and that someone is going to be seriously hurt. There are numerous vehicles like mine on the road with the same problem and its a shame that someone has to risk serious injury due to Chrysler's inability to do whats right.
I was driving on the main road going around 45 mph. Then my car stalls in the middle of the road as if I wasn't in drive. I continue to push the gas and make I was in drive and nothing happened. I tried to pull of the road but my car would not move. As I put the car in park the car continue to roll. I had to sit with my foot on the break until the tow truck came to tow my car. Had my car worked on paid $1500 dollars and I'm still having the same problem the car want go in gear or it just stalls. So far I have had my car towed 6 times since June.
I filled up with gas, pulled out of the gas station onto the expressway on ramp and the engine died. I rolled to the shoulder and after about 10 minutes it would finally start. It stalled a few more times then finally it would run long enough to get me home.
2006 Dodge Charger stalled during rush hour stop and go traffic. Vehicle totally shut down. I put vehicle in neutral and it started right up. A definite safety concern.
I have had an issue with my car stalling and it seems there are many others with the same issue. The fact that this is not being looked at as a safety concern is beyond me. Just because you don't reach 90mph when it stalls does not mean accidents will not occur. If I am turning into a street and traffic is coming in my direction and I stall should I just "restart" my vehicle in hopes that someone doesn't t-bone me? sounds like a bad plot to the start of a movie. Just do the right thing here and fix this world wide issue and let us move on with our muscular cars!.
After refueling, the car stalls at speed. This pretty much now happens after every fill up. The car always restarts, but usually happens 2-4 times after initially refueling. The danger is, it sometimes happens at speed, the car quickly decelerates in traffic making it dangerous. Many times we have had to pull off the road in traffic to restart.
It is hard starting and will stall anywhere between 0 to 45 mph. When it starts rough it will not go forward or reverse without stalling. It seems to be worse after filling the gas tank. When the car stalls it does so with no warning and can leave you with no power steering or brakes. It did it off and on at first but now does almost every time I run it. I took it to a Dodge dealer and gave him a copy of the lifetime warranty gas tank problem and told him of the symptoms of the car. He ignored me and did 4 flashes on the car plus $110 of "cleanup" work on the car and told me it was fixed. On the way home it stalled in the middle of the highway while my wife was driving and she had no steering. The dealer paperwork said they pulled up 4 codes on the car's computer, which I got none of when I ran my code reader on it before taking it to them. One of the reported codes does not even show on the chart and another one was a "c" code for a chasse problem. Upon getting the car home, after stalling several times on the way home, I called the bank and stopped the payment for the work they say they did. I have another appointment with the dealer I bought the car from (farther away) but how do I get them to do the repair I want, not what they feel like doing? thanks.
Since 4-7-14 thru 7-16-14 the dealership has replaced two fuel tanks ( according to extended lifetime coverage letter dated may 8,2014), O2 sensor, transmission module, spark plugs, ignition coils and disconnected the remote starter. The car continues to stall and shutoff.
While driving on the interstate after work my vehicle stalled out and I lost control. I had to strong arm the steering wheel to get the vehicle to veer onto the emergency shoulder lane. Vehicles behind me slammed on their brakes and honked their horns trying to avoid hitting my vehicle. Prior to the event I filled my gas tank. After giving the vehicle a few minutes I tried to turn the ignition. After several tries the vehicle started. I was unable to accelerate over 35 mph and the vehicle shook and stalled the entire ride home. That was 3 weeks ago and the issue has worsened. My vehicle is stalling in mid-sections. It's shaking and along with the fuel light the engine light continuously dings. My code reads engine misfiring and fuel valve failures. The dealership was unable to pinpoint the issue and told me to research the issue under NHTSA. Org. I have almost caused several accidents and I do have a small child I must transport in this vehicle as well. It should not take a fatality for this issue to be resolved by the parties responsible.
My 2006 Dodge Charger was purchased used in Dec 2013. Since then it has occasionally lost power when driving. . But after a few seconds restored to normal operating conditions. Monday 3/10/14, while driving 55 mph on highway 251 in rockford it began loosing power and stalled completely. . I barely had time to get to the right hand lane curb. It was a busy traffic situation, and I had stalled just before construction zone where traffic was merging to one lane. As I sat against the curb a car was forced over striking my mirror off my car. . . It could have been much worse. Not an exageration, I felt my life was greatly jeaopardized. The car would not restart and needed towed away. The situation was only safed by a police car polling up behind me until the tow truck came. So far the car service has not found a cause. Updated 03/14/lj.
After filling up with fuel, car died at a stop light. Restarted with no issue, but then stalled again in the intersection. While in the second stall, almost rear-ended by another driver. Car started again with no issue. Third stall at another stop light and then restarted and drove fine until the next fuel fill up.
Vehicle stalled after refueling, in traffic.
After fueling my Dodge Charger, I drove down the road from the gas station and my car stalled. It started a few attempts later. This is the 5th time it has occurred.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, which was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the plugs for the power control module, and changed the fuel pump relay. The failure recurred after the repairs were performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.
The car suddenly stalled and engine turned off. The steering was locked and was unable to move. I was turning into my subdivision when suddenly this happened. I was probably around 5 mph. Luckily there was no car behind me. I was able to put the car in park and start it and drive home without issue. The second time it got stalled when the same day I had to take my son to one of his class. When I was stopped at the light, the car stalled. This time it took few tries to get the car started. Once it started, the rpm was fluctuating as if it was starving for fuel. Since other complains have references to this happening after filling up gas, I want to mentioned that I had filled the gas the day before and I must have drove 20 or so miles before this happened first time.
The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 107,715.
I have a 2006 Dodge daytona r/t Charger. In January of this year, with ~185k thousand miles on the car, it began stalling after fueling. The car will suddenly die and causes loss of power steering and brakes, and is often difficult to restart. This is causing extremely dangerous conditions, as it occurs when pulling out into traffic and/or moving through intersections. Because the car suddenly stalls, you are left in the middle of the street and at times, fast-moving traffic and unable to start the car to move it out of the way.
After refueling the vehicle, the vehicle stalls and will sometimes die. It will continue to stall off and on for approximately 2 miles and the engine has the tendency to completely die while slowing down for red lights or stop signs. This has only happened after refueling and happens every time.
Reference pe13-016 after filling up the fuel tank, very shortly driving down the road the car will stall. This has happened at least 4 times now and with other incidents of the vehicle trying to stall at high speeds on the interstate (65-70 mph), with at least 2 incidents at an intersection where I fill up at a station frequently. This is a huge safety concern, if this does happen as I am going through an intersection with a loss of brakes or steering, it could easily result in an accident and injury.
2006 Dodge srt8 6. 1 repeatedly stalls after filling with gasoline. Vehicle is difficult to start after. Car sputters at speed for first 30 miles on full tank.
