2003 Dodge Dakota. Consumer requests air bag on-off switch information.
The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Dakota. The air bag warning light was illuminated on the instrument control panel, which indicated that the air bag system was inoperative. Also the cruise control switch would not activate. He had not taken the vehicle to the dealership to-date. He called the manufacturer regarding recall 01v153000 (air bags) for the air bags and was informed that his vehicle was not included. The cruise control switch was replaced. The repair did not remedy the failure. The current mileage was approximately 151,360. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Passenger side air bag light works some time it doesn't. You can turn the switch off and back on the light my go out or it may not you never know whether it is working or not.
Consumer was at an intersection waiting for light to change and another vehicle ran red light to switch lanes without looking, and ran into consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, airbags didn't deploy. Dealership is aware of problem.

Passenger's air bag needs an on/off switch. Small children will have to be transported in front seat from time to time. Dealer said switch was available, but I needed a permit from NHTSA to have installed.
Child safety seat does not fit in rear section - need on/off airbag switch.
