Recently purchased this vehicle in great shape inside and out, runs great. . The dealer did the state inspection on it and replaced both side upper and lower ball joints and the right front hub/wheel bearing. Now 3 weeks later upper and lower ball join on one side need to be replaced again. . This is ridiculous, I have researched and seen all the complaints pertaining to this problem and am dumb founded nothing has been done about it. I just bought it so don't have any information for prior owners.

Started hearing noises under my gas, brake pedals. Big knocking noises. Found out about a recall that my truck needed regarding the ball joints that could cause them to brake and lose the tires. When to the dealership and was told that I had passed the mileage of 100,000, and would have to pay out of pocket. It was only 2463 miles over. I thought recalls don't have a time limit to get fixed? so now I had to find a car shop to fix both balljoints, on both sides. To top it off the right side needed a new hub accessory replaced also that I again had to pay on my own. Why are so many things going wrong now? and by reading online I'm not the only one with these same issues.

Prior to the hub freezing up the SUV was making a sqeeky noise in the front end this later turned into a clunking noise and the car would sway when ever there were lane changes especially noticeable at hwy speeds 55 to 65 mph and driving over the lane marker caps on the freeway. This then developed into a metal to metal grinding noise from the front end prior to the wheel assembly right front passenger side seperating inverting underside car chassis.

Consumer heard a noise coming from vehicle when turning left. The consumer had a mechanic inspect the vehicle and when he removed the wheel the hub fell in his hand in several pieces.
I purchased a 2000 Dodge Durango in June 2003. I have had continuing problems with front suspension, ball joints, right hub assembly. Right side hub assembly has been replaced 5 times in the last 6 years and I was just told yesterday that it will need to be replaced again. I was also informed by my mechanic of 18 years, the whole front suspension is bad and the differential will also have to be replaced. I have owned this truck 11 years and have kept it well maintained,in all this time, I have had only one official recall for upper arm ball joints in 2005. I have called Chrysler twice to question why I have had to replace the hub assembly so frequently(every year for the last 5 of 6 years) and they insist there is nothing wrong or a specific recall for my VIN. I have had enough with replacing the same part over and over every year. Something needs to be done about this hub assembly & front suspension. I have noticed the same complaints online as mine. . . . Front end vibration when reaching speeds of 55-60 mph, ball joint issues, hub assembly issues, and front suspension issues. There are currently 2 recalls for 2000 Dodge Durango front suspension and hub assembly units, and conveniently for Chrysler, neither are my VIN number Durango. Surprise, surprise!! I will continue to file complaints with Chrysler until some one decides to take action and get these issues repaired once and for all. I am getting a little tired of constantly putting out hundreds of dollars for the same issue year after year!! please help get this issue resolved!.
Both front hubs are bad causing both tires to wobble and sway on turns. Tires are now worn out completely on inside.
Once the ball joints become defective the hub assembly becomes defective. Consumer had to replace the hub assembly. Recall campaign . Nhtsa campaign id number : 04v596000 front:control arm:upper ball joint.
While driving at 55 mph, the consumer heard a roaring sound coming from the front. Also, when turning corners, there was a clicking sound coming from the front wheel hub. The dealer examined the vehicle, but was unable to resolve the problem.
Failure of upper and lower ball joints, hub assembly and drive axle.
Complaint received via e-mail. My wife was driving when she heard a bizarre noise coming from the front wheel of the truck. She immediately started driving towards the dealership, but the wheel for unknown reason broke at the hub and separated from the truck, causing her to skid while making a left turn in the intersection. Fortunately, my wife and children were not injured.
We just had the right hub bearing changed in may 2003. Now the same bearing is bad again and the tie rod ends are going bad and the upper and lower ball joints (these problems are on both the left and right side) it just seems to me that this is an awful lot of problems for a truck that is only 4 yrs old. The extended warrenty I bought on it doesn't cover any thing but the hub bearings. We bought this because we needed a family size vehichle, now I'm afraid to put my kids in it.
On 09-16-03 I took our 1999 Durango to a local dealership for a grinding noise in the front end (I suspected it to be wheel bearings). The Durango only had 50,000 miles on it and I learned that it needed wheel bearing/hub assemblies on both sides. That cost me nearly $900 and now only 1 month later I am faced with replacing upper ball joints and control arms on both sides. The dealership and daimler Chrysler are no help with these problems. I feel these components have failed prematurely. This is not a vehicle that is driven roughly (my wife uses it to transport our two small children). I'll have to rethink future purchases of Chrysler products.
When the consumer turned the vehicle left or right, there was a noise which came from the front wheels. The dealer replaced the front hub bearings and re-torqued the upper and lower control arms.
Conesumer states front hub bearing is wearing prematurely , causing a loud noise . Dealer notified.
While driving under normal conditions steering control would be difficult, and there was a noise coming from front end. Dealership examined vehicle, and determined that front/left hub had disintegrated, causing damage to brake and suspension systems. Please provide any additional information / attachments.
Front left wheel makes constant clicking noise. Have taken it into numerous dealerships for service (over 10 times) for the same problem with no resolution. I have had this problem since 2000.
1998 Dodge Durango developed problems with the front hub assembly and the upper and lower ball joints. ** answer required***. In the year 2000 the consumer had the rear differential totally replaced.
While driving consumer heard a noise that was coming from left wheel. Technician serviced vehicle, and noticed upper and lower hub assembly needed to be replaced.
