5 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 01/05/2008

Ball joints, bushings, control arm, wheel bearings failed. Front wheels had three-four inches of play. When they jacked up vehicle to change tires they said they did not know why tires had not already fallen off. I commute on highway every day and often have my children in the truck. 6 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 1999 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 10/16/2006

My wife drives a 1999 Dodge Durango with 80,000 miles. A few days ago my wife noticed a strange noise coming from the front end. I wanted to drive the vehicle to see what my wife was talking about. The next morning I drove the vehicle as I took my daughter to school. I dropped off my daughter then I continued driving to listen for any strange noises. I noticed a clanking noise coming from the front tire at the driverã‚s side. The noise seemed to increase as I went over small bumps on the road, and while turning. I decided to take the vehicle to the nearest auto shop immediately. I told the mechanic about the problem and he was interested in taking the vehicle for a test drive, to hear what I was talking about. As we drove on to the highway the noise was getting worse. We tried to pull off on the next intersection to return to the shop when the front tire assembly came completely off the vehicle. Thank god we were driving at a low speed and no further accidents occurred, but it could have been bad. We had the vehicle towed back to the shop and it is being worked on. It appears that the wheel bearing lost lubrication and broke into pieces.

7 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2002 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 07/28/2005

I have 45,000 miles on my Dodge Durango. Ever since I bought the car new I have not been able to keep the vehicle aligned. I have gone through several sets of new tires. I recently had the ball joints replaced. Firestone tire dealership told be the wheel was ready to fall of Dodge fixed it under warranty but made it sound like no biggie. My car was still making a bad noise when I turned and then it started doing it when I drove straight. I was then told my wheel bearings were completely shot. . . They were worst on the right side the same side that my ball joints were in the worst shape. I paid to have the wheel bearing replaced. Then I took my car to firestone to get it aligned and they told me my upper control arm on the right side was shot and it was not holding the alignment. So no I have to have this replaced. I feel there is more than just ball joint problems with the Durango and dakotas and I would like you to look into the whole suspension and front end and see what is going on with these cars. . .

10 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem of the 2001 Dodge Durango

Failure Date: 03/03/2004

While driving on highway the front end started grinding. Two miles down the road the left front wheel locked up and vehicle went into a skid. After safely maneuvering to the emergency lane the driver got out and found that the wheel had completely colapsed and would not turn at all. The vehicle was towed to a Dodge dealership and upon inspection, it was found that the bearing had disintegrated. The inner ring of the inside bearing had seized to the spindle. The only thing holding the wheel on was the brake caliper. After replacing the drivers side assembly the dealership checked the passenger side and found it to be loose as well. It would have soon done the same thing. This vehicle only has 60k miles on it and this should not have happened. Fortunately the driver was able to control the vehicle safely off the road, however it could have resulted in a roll over or worse, death.
