Premature wear of upper control arms, bushings and balljoints and lower control arm bushings on my 1999 Dodge Durango at 77,000 miles. Squeak was identified as the above problem by a technician named bill blackwood at allen samuels Dodge in fort worth, texas on 12/14/04. The cost of repairs was said to be $2,312. 54 (an unreasonable amount!). The service representative, mr. Terry weber, admitted a problem with these parts, but siad the new recall only goes back to the 2000 models. I believe it shoud be extended to at least include the 1999 models ASAP.

Front end of my 1999 Durango, which only has 71,862 miles, is making a clunking noise when turning corners or going through dips in the road. I checked the frontend if the vehicle while on a jack and found that the left front wheel assembly - possibly the ball joints - moved damatically compared the the right side. I feel that there is a potential problem that the front end assembly my break off if the right set of circumstances occur. I read today that duragno's from 2000-2004 are being recalled for the same type of problem with the front end. O you think that my vehicle should be covered for repair under a factory defect also? this vehicle does not have .
Vehicle would make a noise while turning or driving over bumps. Vehicle was taking to a dealer. The dealer informed the consumer that both upper ball joint and the lower control arm needed to be replaced.
I just had all 4 ball joints in my 1999 Dodge Durango replaced. I only know 2 other people that own this vehichle and they have both had to replace the same parts long before you should need to.
Today I took my 1998 Dodge Durango (VIN-1bhs28y6wf132671) for the yearly virginia safety inspection. The vehicle was taken to dominion Dodge in salem, virginia where I purchased the vehicle new in 1998. Shortly after my arrival and notifiing the service manager what I was there for, he came and told me that my right lower ball joint was "bad" and needed replacement, and he was well aware that this facility had replaced 3 of them April 2002. Including this one that needed replacing 2 years later, 11,203 miles since replaced. When these were replaced in April 2002 the same inferior parts were installed as when the vehicle was bought new!! so this vehicle has a total of 41,780 as of today and I am stating to put a second set of ball joints on my Dodge Durango! when are you people going to do something??.

Ball joints wore out at 45000 miles.
We noticed popping in the front end took Durango to dealer they replaced the lower control arm assembly, few months later it started popping again ,we took it back to a dealer and they had to replace both lower control arm assemblies. It has been about 4 months and it is popping again plus they sent us the recall on the upper ball joints. I am scared to let my family ride in this vehicle I believe it has serious problems in the suspension system that have been trying to fix two times and now this will be the third time and theres not even 30000 miles on it.

When turning in either direction while driving a noise was heard coming from the front end. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop, where the mechanic replaced the upper and lower control arms.
While driving 15 mph consumer heard a popping noise coming from underneath the vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for analysis, and mechanic noticed that the bushings of lower control arm needed to be replaced.
Had to replace both upper and lower ball joints on my 1999 Dodge Durango along with worn out tie rods on both sides. The truck ate through my tires in less then 26,000 miles and when I went to get an alignment done they told me not to drive the vehicle until the repair has been replaced. This was my family vehicle with two kids and my wife who typically drives it. Know after 909 dollars for the repair I saw a report on cbs concerning this issue. I want to know how to get involved with this suit. This is not acceptable from my professional opinion.
2001 Durango required rt upper ball joint arm, rt lower ball joint assembly, let lower ball joint assembly, rt outer tie-rod end replacements and front end alignment. 45,322 miles considered premature defects.
Had to replace control arms/ball joints on 1999 Dodge Durango on a vehicle with less than 85000 miles. Cost ~$2,000.
I had to prematurely replace the right upper ball joint and control arm on my 2001 Dodge Durango. The vehicle only had 42,000 miles on it when they were replaced. Sounds like it was a good idea that I listened to the rattle and had it fixed before something tragic happened.
Dealer replaced both upper and lower ball joints and associate control arms on 2000 Dodge Durango r/t at what I think is premature mileage.

The consumer states that he has had to replace the upper and lower control arm bushing assembly 4 times in 1 year. The vehicle was checked by the dealer who diagnosed that the "bushing" is deteriorating on both the left and right side.
Pe 03-032. Front suspension upper ball joint failure. Two sets of upper ball joints were replaced due to premature wear. When the vehicle was at the dealer for the first repair, they replaced the lower control arm and not the lower ball joint. This was covered under warranty. After the second failure, both upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then out of warranty. Mepco refused to cover the work under warranty because they felt the upper joints were excessively worn. They believe they were bad before the warranty was purchased.
Accident--Toyota corolla grazed front left corner of bumper and hit tire. Tire blew, upper and lower control arms were pushed back.
Vehicle's lower control arm wore permaturely and needed to be replaced, per dealership.
