Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Dodge Durango based on all problems reported for the Durango.
Due to the faulty fuel check valve my vehicle has a line of rust straight down from the gas cap. Dodge repaired the check valve but will not cover any body work due to the mileage/date when the recall repair was performed. With Dodge being at fault for faulty equipment they should also cover the damage caused to my vehicle from the equipment. I have contacted Dodge on multiple occasions but have been turned down for a resolution. Please help!.

After I bought my Durango used, I brought it to fill up the gas tank. I filled up the tank, just before the gas pump shut off, there was about 1/2 gallon of gas that shot out the gas filler hose at me- I thought it was something wrong with the fuel pump at the gas station and told the gas station attendant. About one month ago I filled my fuel tank again, and again the fuel literally shot out of the filler spout at me. I thought this time it wasn't a coincidence since it was at a different gas station. I started searching and found there are many Durango owners with this same dangerous issue. Apparently, Dodge has agreed to fix 2006-2008 vehicles, but the 2005's aren't covered. This is rediculous, does someone's car have to catch on fire for Dodge to take responsibility?.

When refilling the fuel tank the nozzle on the hose from the gasoline dispenser does not click on and stop the flow of fuel once the tank is full resulting in approximately 8 ounces of gasoline being regurgitated back out of the tank and onto the side of the vehicle onto the person standing there fueling the car and then onto the ground. In my opinion this poses a grave safety hazard in that this overflow may ignite and injure the person filling the vehicle plus cause a rather large fire when the vehicle and surrounding items at the station also go up in flames. This has happened at several different filling stations and I was advised last Friday (1/13/2012) by an attendant at t sam's club filling station that this is a common occurrence for Durangos of the age of mine. I stopped by avondale Dodge (where I purchased the vehicle new) on my way home to discuss this problem and they gave me a 800 number to call that I've been getting a run around about the problem so far.
Vehicle dies at stop light. I push it to the side of the road to investigate. Vehicle engine cranks but doesn't fire. On odometer display it says no bus. Fuel pump not coming on when ignition is turned on . I walk to parts store
and buy fuel pump relay ,or circuit breaker. Put it in , fuel pump comes on engine starts . Wife is driving it two days later . Vehicle dies in busy intersection . Nice people push her off the road way. She calls me , I tell her to take circuit breaker to parts store and get new one. She replaces breaker ,she's on the road again. So now I do some reading find out circuit breakers just get hot stop working , cool down and work again. So some thing is drawing too much current. Replace the fuel pump and filter , big pain in the you know what. Vehicle dies two days later. Nice man pulls me off the road. I leave vehicle sit for an hour . Vehicle starts back up. So I just go on
vehicle dies on me all the time. Fast food lines ,busy intersections, it dies every where , every temp. I don't let mommy drive it anymore. I don't trust it to carry my baby anymore. I cant sell it . I have read about people having same exact problems . They say replace fuel pump ,did it. Replace computer , did that. Several years ago dealer ship put new computer in cost me $1200. All for a problem similar to this one. Vehicle died at stop lights , but started up right away. I have replaced so many parts , every thing is new. I cant trust it . Its very unsafe . I cant knowingly sell it to some body. Thanks Dodge.

There is a failure of the gasoline filler tank check valve that causes gas to spit out of the filler hose assembly during fueling. . Read more...
The fuel line check valve sticks allowing gasoline to spit back out when filling up the gas tank. This is a 2006 Dodge Durango, but the problem is identical to the 2005 model recall on the same issue, and which appears well documented elsewhere, including this website which shows the same issue. . I recently purchased a 2006 Dodge Durango slt. On every gasoline fill up, the gas pump does not get triggered to shut off and gasoline violently with force sprays a significant quantity of gasoline directly out of the fuel nozzle, down the vehicle, and onto anything within close proximity to the nozzle, then down to the ground, pump hose. If standing holding the nozzle, I have been sprayed with gasoline. This has occurred at every fill up, regardless of gas station I've tried. This is extremely dangerous, and I see via multiple sites is not limited to just my Durango.
The contact owns a 2000 Dodge Durango. The contact was sitting idle at a traffic stop when a fire ignited from the front passenger side of the vehicle and smoke was emitting from the hood. The police and fire were dispatched and a fire report was available. The vehicle was then towed to a repair shop where the contact was advised that the fire was caused by faulty fuel lines. The vehicle was deemed as destroyed. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 140,000.

My 1999 Dodge Durango has a leaking gas line hose that goes to the fuel tank. The complaint I have is that I checked with 2 Dodge dealerships and both told me that the hoses were not available and not made anymore. The one that is leaking is the filler hose that is 14" long and has a 1" I. D. It looks like it has been rubbing against something and is getting gouged up and now has a hole in it. I have check with auto parts places and was told that this is not a common gas line filler hose. I know the vehicle is over 7 yrs old, but only have 76500 miles on it. I ask one dealership what was I supposed to do, junk my vehicle, and he said yes that sounds like a good idea. Please help. I would also like to find out if there are any other people that are having the same problem, and any other recalls. This SUV was bought by my son, new in 1999, and I purchased it from him in 12/2004 with 50,000 miles on it.
References recall NHTSA campaign number 09v003000 for 2005 Dodge Durango fuel system. My 2006 Dodge Durango has the same defect as listed in the 2005 recall. A local Dodge dealer has inspected and confirmed the defected fuel system gasoline and storage tank assembly in my Durango. Dodge will not cover the total cost of this safety repair since there is not a recall on the 2006 and Dodge told me to file a complaint with the NHTSA. I am urging the NHTSA to re-elevate the 300+ complaints and extend the recall to the 2006 Durango and others. My 2006 Durango fuel system defect began in June 2010 with the most recent hazardous incident occurring in December 2010. The shut off seems to have declined to the point that the gas now sprays out of the tank. This is a very serious and dangerous safety matter. I became covered in gasoline as the gas sprayed like a hose out onto my coat and hair. My hair later touched my eye and my eye was stinging from where the gas must have touched my contact lens. My daughter was with me at the time and we both had to smell the potent fumes from the gas on my clothes. I had to throw my fleece coat in the trash. I am fortunate I did not come in contact with a spark or it would have caught my clothes on fire. The potential hazard of cold weather and static electricity is a reality with gasoline. I am alarmed that Dodge would not submit a recall on the affected vehicles after 2005. This is a safety matter that Dodge needs to address. I cannot fill my Durango gas tank to the full mark without the eruption of gas coming from the tank. It started out as a spillage but now it spills and sprays out. Other owners should be warned so that a fire, serious injury or death does not occur.
When fueling vehicle gas will discharge from the filler neck prior to valve closing on fuel filler hose. Occurs at multiple fill stations and is not specific to one fuel pump. Defect and complaints noted for 2005 model year appear to be present in 2006 model year. No damage or replacement has occurred to oem fuel system. Failure occurs with every fueling for the past six months. Failure involves environmental and safety impacts for discharge of raw fuel while fueling.
Upon completion of fueling, when removing hose, gas splashes out with force, enough to soak a body from neck to ankles with gas.
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that after adding gasoline to the fuel tank, it spew out of the filler neck. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel vapor valve was defective, as a result the gasoline tank and fuel lines needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.

Tl- the contact owns a 2006 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while adding fuel it began to spill out from the filler neck. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was advised not to refuel to capacity. The failure continued to recur. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel tank and connector hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. The VIN was unavailable. Rvk.
Twice while refueling vehicle fuel overflowed before the pump shut off.
The vehicle had a defective fuel line assembly, which caused fuel to leak fuel at the connection, the fuel line was replaced twice, however the problem recurred.
